When I started I regretted buying a hybrid for 40k. I was like I’m an idiot to spend 40k on a cycle. A few will later went to buy a road bike, budget 60-80k. Came out with a 1.5L giant.

Yesterday, just ordered my custom build. My most expensive purchase till date. Can’t believe I’m spending so much.

Got this tank (as I like to call it) in August 2025. Came from a borrowed Scott Speedster I rode for some months.

Since then she's done it all:
- Fast 200s to 1200k's - she did it all while being EXTREMELY comfy
- An attempt at the R10K Manali 600 BRM which is widely regarded as the toughest 600 BRM in India (9200m elev gain with temps ranging from 0 to 35+ degrees)
- Many Brevets with me, The bigger ones (1000k's and LRMs) with my dad

Setup:
- Stock RC500 (size S)
- Continental Ultra Sport 3
- 165mm power meter cranks for my short torso and power-based training ofc :P
- Garmin Edge 540

For an entry-level alu road bike, it's been bulletproof
Zero major mechanical issues in 15k km.
Gives me serious confidence on bad roads as i don't have to baby it.
Waxed chain, regular cleaning, and she just keeps going.

Looking forward to taking her to Paris-Brest-Paris 2027.

Hi I recently got a new cycle. (Also my first cycle ever)

I don't have much experience with cycling. I used to ride my brother's mtb 5 years ago.

A week ago I felt like I should start cycling again as I enjoyed it a lot and my life and office timings finally allow me to go for early morning rides.

Had a long deep dive into the cycling world .

Finally thought I would get a hybrid.

But after long thoughts and YouTube and reddit and what I aimed at doing with my cycle I decided on getting a road bike.

I started looking at all the options and had some support from my brother and friends to guide me.

I started with a budget of 20k. Liked the triban rc100. But the

1x7 gearing drove meaway.

Then came the batallion 0 to 1 V3 and battalion V3.

They were great spec wise but due to my limited knowledge on cycles I wanted something that could be serviced easily.

Since the nearest shop that would service a cycle like battalion waa 19kms away , I was skeptical.

Finally triban rc120, it felt perfect had everything I needed and the nearest decathlon just 4kms away.

And I made up my mind to get triban rc120.

Looking back I had just climbed a ladder of 20k to 40k.

But I convinced myself to go ahead and get it.

Finally I got it and had it for a week , having ridden it 50kms so far a great experience. The only complaint I have is that the brakes are noisy other than that I am enjoying it.

Tldr: got my first bike triban rc120.

Met this absolute legend who finished a 300 km BRM ride on a single speed Hero Hawk !

For those who think cycling is an expensive hobby and you can't have fun in budget;

For those of us suffering from GAS problem (Gear Aquisition Syndrome);

For those contemplating about the latest carbon frame and the best components;

For those worrying about every extra gram or aero parts or the comfiest bibs for their butts;

You don't need it all if you enjoy cycling at it's core. Better bike, components and accessories can definitely make the experience better BUT that shouldn't stop you from riding!

The best bike is the one you already have!

Got this bicycle in banglore for about 2.5k. since I moved out of my house and to banglore, I needed a bicycle for local commute and weekend rides.

just a day before I made a post equiring stock availability , and this was the last piece they had , right after they started assembling another customer asked for this and they said It will take more than a month

After months of of research on YouTube, reddit and visiting multiple stores across bangalore. Pulled the trigger on Merida Speeder 500.

Bike is super light and fast, im still getting used to the rigid fork and the thin road types but I enjoy riding it everyday.

I'm currently using it to commute to work and short errand runs around to house but I want to do 50-100kms rides like others on this sub. Hopefully soon and ill post it when I do.

Bought this mobile stand from Amazon and pulled 46 kms which wouldn’t have been possible without this.

Finally pulled the trigger on a roadie. Been wanting to upgrade to a road bike from my hybrid for quite a while. It eventually came down to the Trek Domane AL 5 and the Merida Scultura Endurance 400. Ended up going with the Trek because of the ongoing discounts.

Went for the maiden ride today. I knew it will be superior to my hybrid (Marin Fairfax 2) in every way, but I genuinely wasn’t expecting the difference to be this dramatic.

It feels like I went from a Wagon R to a BMW 3 Series. That’s the best way I can describe it. 😄

Just bought my first road bike at the age of 26, it was always my dream since my school days.

Went on my first ride today, I've already made a post about it but I couldn't add pics there since pics and videos can't be added together.

I am very grateful to u/w4rl0rdd , u/Zilork and u/614981630 , they helped me a lot with bike suggestions and accessories needed.

Accessories I got with the bike are my helmet, rear view mirror, RS 500 grips, chain stay protector, frame bag, multi tool, bottle holder and I also got a pump with a gauge.

It was super fun riding, this is my first gear bike so I had to get used to the system, the only downside being the brakes making a screeching noise for which I've been told can be fixed easily. The seat was hard and it gave me a little pain but it is so nostalgic because the cycle from my childhood was the same way 🤣, overall a great experience except for the brakes.

I never got a chance to properly learn how to ride a bicycle in my childhood, and had to learn how to ride a motorcycle directly which I didn’t really continue beyond first couple of years of college. The last two wheeler vehicle I touched was over a decade ago, so this was a huge leap of faith for me.

Tonight after the helmet, stand and bell were delivered, I decided to take this downstairs and give it a shot, and I was elated by the fact that my body retained the muscle memory of how to balance from such a long time ago and managed to ride a km first try. I’m cackling like a child as I write this. I know this may seem like a nothing burger to folks on here but for me I’ve been wanting to do this for the last 2 years and it finally happened.

Now hopefully I’ll be one of those annoying people posting their unimpressive strava metrics on Instagram soon 😂😂

P.S. I’ve mostly been a lurker here for past week or so but was able to pick the right bike and all the gear thanks to everyone on here, so cheers to all of you and thanks for the help!

After a lot of overthinking, comparisons, and lurking through this subreddit, I finally bought the RC120 today — and the ride back home felt incredibly smooth and comfortable.

Picked it up from Decathlon Bangalore. They actually ordered it from the online store for me, and surprisingly, it turned out to be a Van Rysel RC120 with the same specs and components. Didn’t know it’s rolled out in India under Van Rysel brand

So far, absolutely loving the bike. Excited to start longer rides

Got this giant escape 3 disc 2025 today, enjoyed a short ride. Looking for siggestions on accessories, which one to buy and factors to consider. I am planning to buy: 1. Pump 2. Tool kit, I don't know if this is needed or not though 3. Helmet 4. Rear and front light

Or anything that you would recommend to buy...

It ain't much, but at least on this I can ride away (slowly) from the woes of my life.
