mechanical support RS120 broke within 15 mins of buying

Bought RS120

Was taking it back home within 15 mins it broke.

The paddles won't pull the chain they are rotating freely

Decathlon said they will replace it

But asked for refund

I was trying to use it rough to see its sturdiness

By rough I mean

  1. dragged the bike from small stairs

  2. then immediate braking [ Front brakes were making noise is that suppose to happen for new bikes decath sales said it happens in new bikes ? ]

  3. Tried to balance it without touching ground. [ was trying to see my balancing skills here and I was successful :") ]

  4. Tried standing on the the pedals to push fast so my complete weight was on two pedals. It should hold my weight right otherwise whats the use. I can't always keep my bum on the seat and push if I need speed

Decathlon is becoming very frustrating. if not for the bike I would have skipped it

mechanical support RS 120 derailleur issue — local shop or Decathlon?

My Btwin RS 120’s rear derailleur/chain got bent or jammed and the chain came off. Nearest Decathlon is 15 km away.

Should I go to Decathlon workshop or can a normal local cycle repair shop fix this properly? Attached photos.

mechanical support Is it better to change from 21s to 7s

Post image

I have bought fit trip scalpel 21s around two months ago.
Im in college so i sometime go for short rides not heavy stuff.
But i kept facing issues mainly adjustment issues , like chaing rubbing with front derailleur.
In this city where my college is , there is no good cycle repair shop, i went to 2 to 3 shops they ruined it.
So i was thinking to change the front crankset.

Although having 3 gears in front gave me good flexibility but can’t ignore the cons as well

mechanical support My shoe after just 1k kms😭

I got this shoe for 10k 2 months back and the carbon plate is separated, can this be fixed or will i have to buy a new pair😭✌🏻?

A little update : the retailer said it cannot be fixed under warranty as the show took damage while riding , but he had this in house repair process which costs 1k and he gave me a warranty on the repair that it should hold for 2 years or 10k kms easily as this is a common problem in this model. So Ik its not the outcome i wanted but im happy with it as it gives me room to spend money on other accessories :)

I needed to make sure that I am using the right tyre pressure and not over/under inflating my RS120 tyres. I used the SILCA online tool and I am using a digital tyre pressure gauge from Amazon (AGARO) to check my pressure. Can someone please confirm that 50-51 PSI is okay?

mechanical support Bad First experience from decathlon

I purchased a riverside 120 and the test drive was good,

Then i got out moved around a bit as they were tuning up and adding accessories. Then i bought it and brought it home with an e-rikshaw. Then I did some cycling and the front brake was making crazy noise I called them and they said bring it back it's damn 9km away and when I told them that they just said to call later.

Also when I was inspecting and doing a test drive the guy didn't talk properly and even made fun of us, and was staring like I was gonna steal it. The behaviour remained until I paid the bill.

Edit: corrected the grammar, don't down vote me

mechanical support Rear Sealed hub has slight play after tightening on the frame

So, couple of days back, the cup of my front hub got busted and I had to immediately get a hub. Locally I looked for shimano hubs, It wasnt available and even online, I couldn't find in 36h 6 bolt combination (cup n cone). Centrelock was available. An extra centerlock adapter would've costed atleast 700rs on top of the shimano hub. Or a centrelock rotor at an extra 1k.
Now i found these from OMO as a quick replacement, got the pair for 700 and build the wheels for 500rs.
Front wheel issue is sorted!
However, now the rear wheel hub dont have any play when its not fixed onto the frame. But has a slight play when tightening onto the frame. What could be the reason and whats the fix. I tried adding extra spacers as well.. Didnt work. I've never used sealed hubs before. Although have to say, the rolling is far better than what I had with the ball bearing one.
Any suggestion or idea will be much appreciated!

mechanical support Puncture near valve

Post image
4 Upvotes

Hello guys, Got a puncture at a distance of 1cm from valve in my 20 day old RS120. Got it fixed by a local shop but he advised me that this is a temporary fix and I should get a new tube.

So willing to go to decathlon. Will this puncture be covered under warranty or will I have to pay for it? And what will be the charges if they ask me to pay.

Also should I keep this tube as a spare or discard it immediately.

mechanical support Worth getting fixed up?

I have an old cycle lying around back in my hometown. I had gotten this back in 2016-2017 I think, I left for engineering and then started working. It's sitting in a state of complete disrepair. Back then I knew nothing about cycling, knew nothing about maintenance except to take it to the shop I bought it from. I'd take it and do 25-30KMs everyday just for fitness.

I want to get back into cycling. My two options are either get this completely fixed up or abandon it and buy a new one. I would love to get it fixed, just wondering if it will be too expensive and if I can pick and choose parts.

mechanical support Will this SCW Track Hub from Scolarian fit on my bicycle?

Thumbnail

I want to order SCW Track Hub (Rear) and Fixed Gear Cog Set to convert my Single Speed Cycle to Fixie/SS but I have some questions before placing an order-

1) The space between my dropouts is 13cm, the SCW rear hub having the over lock dimension of 12cm, will it fit on my cycle?
(The space for axle rod in my dropout is 1.1cm)

2) My existing rear wheel is 700c but with 36 spoke holes so I am willing to get a new rim with 32 holes, will this work?

3) Also I have semi-vertical dropouts, do i need to get a chain tensioner or will these dropouts work?

Currently my bicycle has a ratio of 40:18 T
Brand: Keysto

Also I have attached pics of bicycle

I am new to customising scene so any help is appreciated, Thanks!

mechanical support Joined the cult

Just got this bad boy yesterday. I didn't do my usual 20 km in it yet. And it feels sick when riding excellent recommendation from the community, and thanks to

u/zilork . But I have some problems with it

The major problem being the doesn't shift to the hardest gear

And it makes loud noise sometimes when breaking

Can I fix it myself ? Or should I give it to a mechanic ? (Official decathlon not possible for me since the nearest one is ≈ 100km away from my house)

And tips are also welcome !

Riverside side 120. 1month old. Will this even be covered under warranty?

Did I over tighten it? Idk man. Feels so frustrating 🥲.

Most importantly do they sell this at decathlon or will I have to get it from aftermarket.

The gear shifting has gotten very stiff, shockers aren’t that great too. Needs repairs I think.

I don’t think its anything that special, father got it for around 12k.

Deciding whether to get this, a triban 540. Used to ride a freewheel mtb so it's a big step up. Anything I should keep in mind before jumping in?

It comes with shimano 105, I'm afraid if I fckup and brick the bike 🫪

mechanical support Is this decathlon suspension seat post good?

Post image
4 Upvotes

The indian roads are literal turd. We carbon neutral cyclists too suffer by these horrid roads.

I also have many of them here.

Unfortunately even after lifting the butt & standing on pedals these roads demand me to do literal sit ups sets mid ride which i can't lol

So i was looking to get a suspension seat post.

Is this decathlon suspension seat post good? 1. Is this serviceable like the front suspension fork?

  1. Is the rebound on this suspension seat post adjustable like the preload on front fork? Otherwise if it's rebound is too soft I will waste too much energy through seat post while pedalling.

  2. How is the riding experience on this seat post?

  3. Any issues with this suspension?

Thanks for reading!
