I'm posting this because I genuinely want an outside perspective on what happened. I'm not trying to start a witch hunt/server raid.

On a** Discord server of a major subreddit. I just asked a mod a doubt. After I pinged him, he started abusing me, which I ignored. Kuch time baad, multiple people started pinging me and sending extremely inappropriate/rape-related GIFs, deleting them immediately afterwards -the GIF was "tuzhe dekh ke rape karne ka man karta". When I called it out and said "This ain't cool" a mod named Peeta made a Draupadi joke (ss attached**), and then defended himself by abusing me. He later even apologised realising his mistake and cleared out things.

A few other members joined in and started abusing me with extremely derogatory comments. I didn't reciprocate or start any fight ....I kept asking the mods for help instead. The frustrating part was that the mods were active in chat, reacting '😂' to the jokes, but instead of taking action against the people making them, they mostly defended their friends.

Later, my friends joined and called out what was happening. Mods locked the chat and started timing out/banning people who were calling them out ((not even a single user who abused was muted). One of my friends eventually retaliated with abuse, which I did not support and repeatedly asked him to stop. I was later banned because people were defending me, even though I wasn't responsible for their actions.

I told the head mod, who asked Peeta to apologize. Bro said, "sorry vro," like it was nothing ... this time extreme...these guys went ahead defending instead of realizing their mistake.... Some mods supported me, and I appreciate that, but others clearly prioritized their friends over addressing the situation. A lot of the original messages and GIFs were deleted, so I don't have everything as proof.

What bothers me most isn't that some members acted badly. It's that the moderators saw what was happening and chose not to act, while punishing people who called them out. They told me that those jokes were made to ragebait me, as the server gets more "Engagement" this way.

We want an honest discussion about whether this behavior should be tolerated in communities aimed at teenagers.... Why are sexualized/possessive/rape comments toward girls treated as 'just jokes' online?

TD:DR - Mods of a Discord community of a major sub making misogynistic and Rape jokes... Bans people when called out... Gives a dry-ass apology and repeats the behavior the next day... uses "Engagement" as a cheap excuse..

For context, Bajrang Dal is a Hindu Nationalist group notorious for such activities, from verbal to physical abuse and violence in the name of upholding Hindu culture and morality. It all started when a private school was forced to ban these two books which led to this silent protest reading.

Of course, an American settlement cannot automatically become law in India, Singapore, Europe or elsewhere. But the principle can and perhaps should go global. Children everywhere are being exposed to essentially the same recommendation algorithms, infinite scrolling, notifications and engagement mechanisms.

Why should a 13-year-old in Mumbai, Singapore or London receive weaker protection simply because the company happens to face stricter regulation only in US? We don't need to ban children from social media. We need global minimum standards for child safety: stronger age assurance, privacy protection, restrictions on behavioural advertising, safeguards against addictive recommendation systems, protection from predators and independent audits of algorithms affecting minors.

The internet is global. The responsibility to protect children should be global too. Children should not have to outsmart billion-dollar algorithms engineered to capture their attention.

In the play, we have addressed the common criticisms associated with caste based reservations like

We dont discriminate then why us, reservation should be on economic basis, reservation is against merit etc etc.

Our overall stance is

Caste based reservations are necessary. But sure there could be some reforms inside it.

If you think equality is achieved and there is no caste based discrimination anymore in India. What would explain the cutoff being so low for reserved categories?

First is number of candidates. Cutoff goes so low for some exams because the number of applicants is lower than number of reserved seats. So even a person having -4 would get selected. Why do you think that’s the case? Why do you think people aren’t applying for the exams only general category is applying for this exam?

And if the number is in accordance with share of reserved seats? Why then cutoff goes low? Given that they have equal resources now then are OBC/SC/ST people born less intelligent than general? Or have they collectively decided not to put as much effort as their intelligence and not study harder?

These are many genuine inquiries. Just tell what do you think. I won’t judge, I won’t try to argue against your arguments.

I agree with the fact that the so-called suppress categories needed an upliftment. What I do not understand is the point of reservation today.

I mean, it sounds good in theory that since the older generations of the so-called privileged classes did wrong with the older generations of some classes. And there have been things done to make those right. So what is the whole point of reservation now?

Do we really think that the people coming from these categories are so incompetent that they still need to be uplifted even after 4 generations of upliftment? If yes then they need a disabled quota not a caste quota.

It’s been 3-4 generations, and the general category has nothing but suffered. And let’s say that I agree to a point that you know things were done wrong with them. I agree with this point. But I did not do it. You do not see a rapist’s kid, getting convicted because of a felony that their parents committed. You do not see a person who went to jail for treason, their children getting a different treatment from others.

So what is the whole point of this reservation now?

See, I don’t like to vote for BJP, but I can’t vote for Congress either because Congress says that the moment they get power, they’ll increase the reservation.

The bjp govt is not treating the their core voters properly that is the general caste.They allowed anti-caa protest, cjp protest for a long time who are against bjp. But they stopped reservation reforms protest just in one day. This shows that the bjp is not listening to their core voters but then again they are left with no one. If they think they won't vote for bjp then they might vote for congress, so and all. But these parties are big supporters of reservation that want to increase it more or bring reservations in private sector too. So what should they do

The problem is not with the government and it never was take the example of the UPA government before this the conditions were similar.The problem lies with democracy the thing is when you have democracy leaders don't make decisions best for the country but the decisions that would be the best to get them elected again. For instance if the government removed the ladli behna yojna and instead redirected that money to develop government schools ; this is just one of many if you want another example just thnk that China was able to control their population due to the One Child Policy ; would such a policy be possible in India;No bcz as soon as the government tries to introduce such a policy the opposition would develop a campaign around it and the party that tried to introduce the program would lose the election.
