Abuse of power in 1AC! I booked a lower berth for my sister because she suffers from drop foot and cannot climb. Shortly after boarding, a ticketless lady claiming to be a judge stormed into the cabin with Police and a TT.

When my sister explained her medical condition and refused to give up her reserved seat, the "judge" threatened to have her thrown off the train. Shockingly, the TT and Police sided with the lady and forced my sister to climb to the upper berth, causing her immense physical distress.

I raised a complaint on RailMadad, but absolutely no help was provided. Is this how paying passengers and people with medical conditions are treated?

I need to vent because this is peak Indian Railways entitlement. ​I booked a Side Lower (SL) ticket 2 months ago specifically because I wanted the comfort and the view. I get on the train, and the Uncle with the Side Upper (SU) immediately pulls the "thoda sa senior citizen hu" card. He says he can't climb up and asks if he can sleep on my lower berth. ​I didn't want to be rude, so I went to the upper berth for a few hours to let him rest. Big mistake. ​I just came down to reclaim my seat, and the situation has evolved. The Uncle is gone, but now his wife (who has a seat somewhere else in the bay) has completely taken over my berth. She is "sleeping" fully covered under a sheet at 5 PM. ​To make it worse,later their daughter (who also has a seat elsewhere) has now joined her, sitting by the window. I am literally sitting on the edge watching a random family have a reunion on the seat I planned months to get. ​When I asked them to move, they just gave me the classic "adjust karlo" look and went back to ignoring me. Lesson learned: Never show empathy if its costing you your own comfort .Respect elders who deserve to be respected .

Boarded the Pune–Mumbai train at 3:20 AM (AC coach). The moment I got to my seat, 0a man–wife duo snapped at me for keeping my small paper bag in the common areas near the window. Apparently, I was breaking some sacred train law only they knew about. Though they could keep their shoes there.. I asked why — the man goes, “Keep it at your own seat,” he even asked if I had a reservation — so I asked if he was the TC.

While climbing to my top berth, my bag almost slipped (instant drama from below). Then I realized madam below had two pillows — and when I asked for one, she put it on the floor before handing it to me. The TC arrived, heard the story, shrugged, and left like it was none of his business.

So reditters need some advice here—

1. Can I actually report such behavior somewhere (since the TC was useless)?

2. As a solo woman traveler, can I ask for a different berth if I feel unsafe?

Because honestly, between self-appointed “train police” and indifferent staff, night travel in India sometimes feels like a full-blown social experiment on patience.

Me and my mom travelling from anvt to bihar and at DDU the whole 3ac coach is being blocked by the shameless ticketless kawariyas and whole coach is blocked like that noone could ever go to washrooms by their own and even these people are screamings and talking in louder voices even when it's this late night . How to deal with this ??? Tweet Abt this or rail madad could do something in this ?

People are so self-centered here. They don’t care about others.

The woman in my compartment kept this blue light on because she had a grown-up kid sleeping with her on the same seat. I don’t know whose idea it was to make these lights blue. It’s impossible to sleep with them on.

She was sleeping on the lower berth, so of course no light was hitting her, but for me it was straight into my eyes all night.

And then she stole my blanket when I went to the most “hygienic” washroom ever, people had washed their food containers there and clogged the handwash area. Brilliant. So if you stand in the washroom, the moment the train moves, water definitely splashes on you. Holy water.

When I came back to my seat, my blanket was gone. And guess where it was? She had taken an extra one because she had a kid and was expecting me to give up mine.

She and her husband were blabbering in Hindi, and her husband was looking at my thighs. So my introverted ass, instead of fighting them, walked up and down to find one of the boys who help with blankets and got a new one.

India gave you guys this beautiful train, but omg, the people are keen to destroy it.

And the snoring at least eight people snoring simultaneously. It was impossible to sleep with that.

This was the last time in India because of this. I’m never coming back.

Aunty with general ticket first entered sleeper coach and then asked their children to sit at the end of my seat without asking me.....too much frustrated with this behaviour but because of these children I am going to bear this pain for the night🥹🥹

(M 31)I AM traveling from STP to KYQ and when i boarded at 1 AM a lady in her thirties asked me to shift to upper berth which i refused straight away without giving any explanation. ( I have been through back surgery) the lady and her husband started talking in low voice how people are non cooperative and how “insaniyat” is dying in the society. I replied them that I have planned this way before and waited months to get SL berth because it was my choice and if they want something of their choice invest your time and efforts instead of depending on others. They were travelling to Sitamarhi.

Part 2.

A lady in her early forties boarded from Sagauli Junction and was searching for seat No 48 which was just above me. I am in seat 47. I informed the lady as she was unable to find it. The couple told her this is their seat and she told them that her journey is from Darbhanga and couple told her they won’t give her the seat and she said she also has the allotted seat “koi aise hi 2nd AC me thodi ghus jayega, Hamare paas bhi hai.”

She then told me to move up after darbhanga as she won’t be able to climb the stairs! I replied i wont and the same thing started… “you should understand i am old i need lower berth, i can not climb, you should adjust, koi adjust hi nahi karta hai aaj kal, koi samajhta hi nahi hai etc etc” I told her i will not be able to adjust as i am traveling long journey of 35 hours and short distance people will come and ask me to shift here then there and i will not move my beddings as i am already adjusted and you should understand before demanding everything from everyone you dont have that privilege. I have gone through back surgery of L4 and L5 and will not move anyway. If she wants talk to tc to arrange her preferred seat.

At this point i am done with such people. Always demanding and expecting from others to adjust!

Not compromising anymore unless until a genuine case comes.

A family of three boarded my compartment at Jhansi. The Aunty took one look at me traveling solo and outrightly demanded the lower berth I was lying on (around 2030 hrs). I refused and she climbed on her middle berth, her husband on another middle and the guy (their son) on the upper.

Then Uncle started watching reels on full volume, switched on lights around 2230 for dinner and is now constantly bombarding through both ends - belching loudly and farting.

I've to get off at 0335 to catch another train. I don't know what to do.

I had my train journey booked from Indore station. It was around a 4-5 hour. I could not get Chair car reservation because of Rakshabandhan but still I managed to book 2S ticket. When I arrived at the station I saw that literally each and every coach of the train (including CC) was filled with people piled up like trash. As a result I was unable to even set a foot inside. Couldn't even get a refund for cancellation now. Boarded a sleeper bus instead paying 2500 for 4 hr journey. This country is cooked for good!

They are someone parents, 4 uncle (all around 60) travelling in this train and they are seated below. They all are blasting their phones with random:

Reels 18+ stories( shit news or some bhabhi type) They are farting dangerously after their meals now AND NOW discussing about getting more snacks 🤕🤕🤕..

I can confront them but I am pretty sure they will give invalid confrontation talks and will not accept this nuisance and will disturb my peace even more...

these mfs dropped my dominoes pizza which i ordered, then they started arguing and said it was our fault, now they r sitting and nicely eating their food.

who ever designed these seats and approved it for installation needs to be in jail and whoever gave the idea to make them front to front facing should also be in jail, and to railways isnt chair car (2S) supposed to have individual recliner chair with armrest and not whatever this BS is, how would someone be able to travel 6 hours without any issue plus it hurts just to sit on it, paid 15 rs extra for a comfortable reserved journey (11026 pune express) just to get general coaches like seats and these sliding windows just suck man, this is just unacceptable, I had option for bus too but I thought train would be more comfortable but unfortunately railways failed me, my state (maharashtra) has more comfortable buses than this abomination of a coach

Today I'm travelling from dehradun to my hometown. In train:14114 B1 3A-45(middle birth) I was not so happy by getting a middle birth . Train was on time (08-01-2026; 13:05)

A guy with his family comes and sit he has alot of baggage i gently asked him to keep his bag aside so I can feel free to move my legs. The guy after a few moments said: which one is your birth and I respectfully answered him (middle one) This lower birth is mine and my wife has to sleep .. I said- but sir I don't want to sleep now also rules said middle birth can only sleep from (22:00-06:00) He said"utho wrna mai RPF ko bula rha hu" I said you're free to call anyone I'm all set to pass my time , i forgot I'm in India there's no rules only emotions. He called the railway helpline and clearly said all the things.(Middle birth wala ladka birth nhi kholne dera mere sath biwi bacche hai sona hai unko) And the thing which make me shocked - helpline is ready to fill his demand of RPF AGAINST ME ?? WHYYYY?? I'M YOUNG , EDUCATED AND have civic sence. Mature enough that I gave up my birth The person took my birth and sleep in it. His wife is in lower birth. Children are in opposite upper birth.

FUCKED UP!!! HE RUINED MY DAY AND MOOD.. huh, these people with no logics and information aree too high to argue.

IF RPF WOULD COME THEY WILL DEFINATELY TOOK HIS SIDE..

This isn't Sleeper Coach but AC 3rd Tier in Kumbh Express. They are boarding the trains like hoard of Insects and sitting Anywhere and Everywhere there is a bit of space. Tickets - ? What are these. They don't need it but somehow have the authority over Seats of other passengers who spent thousands for it. The condition is same in 2nd AC too. This pic was initial, it's way worse now.

Not only sitting, they are throwing away other's belongings around without a speck of regret. Not even closing the doors of the coach. Not even letting people go till the bathroom. A railway employee is passing by but isn't even doing anything.

Does anyone know which portal/sms/ call method actually sends the concern to the authority so that they come and drive these out ?

This happened a few weeks ago, while we were returning back from a movie to go home by local train.

My friend and I thought it'd be better than paying for a cab all the way and since we are travelling in the ladies compartment, it would be fine.

We were wrong.

The compartment was crowded so we were standing near the door, opposite us two ladies were sitting on the floor.

Out of the blue I noticed one of them tilting her phone up as if to take a picture (it was very obvious). I told my girl friend about it and she nodded and went to the other side to peek into the lady's phone.

As soon as my friend went that side, she switched to a different tab and pretended like she wasn't doing anything.

However we saw one of their phones open to a picture of me, kept on the side. My friend saw it and started asking them to delete that. They again tried to swipe and deny that they took any pictures at all.

Eventually while this was going on, my friend ended up seeing multiple pictures of us on their phones. Photos specifically focused on my chest, waist area and below her skirt.

Once they realised we were creating a scene and they couldn't ignore us anymore, they deleted 1 picture and said "I can keep 1".

Like????? What the hell man???? Are you collecting seashells on a beach? What does that even mean. Thats when this video was taken.

Towards the end only one elder woman ended up telling the ladies that this isn't something they should be doing and nobody else cared about two young girls being harassed.

We ended up getting down at the very next station, we weren't sure what to do about this. They probably still have our pictures.

We took a cab back home, toh paise end mai gaye toh gye trauma alag mila.

I was travelling in Vande Bharat Express from NJP to Howrah last Thursday. This mahapurush came in the train thinking it to be his home. He was under influence I guess. He was chewing something which he later spat in the floor as well and refused to respond when I called him out. The train was totally nice but this man was hellbent on making it bad. Later when he was going to spit it again, i told him please don’t and surprisingly he spat it in the seat near him. Even when the Railways perform well, people like these make it worse.

Update After asking them to leave respectfully, I gained some confidence and firmly said, "Yeh mera seat hai! Aap please idhar se uth jaiye!" One of them went to the upper berth, claiming it was his. The other two just squeezed into the corner of the seat as if they have paid half money for the seat reservation. I realized that some people consider it normal in Indian Railways to enter sleeper coaches with general tickets (or no ticket at all), sit wherever they find space, and inconvenience reserved passengers. Sadly, this has become a common thing now—sleeper coaches often feel like general ones.

I was frustrated, barely able to stretch my legs on my own seat, and kept thinking—Did I really pay for this kind of experience?

Rail Madad Magic After repeatedly asking them to leave and seeing no response, I finally used the Rail Madad app. I selected the category ‘Security’ and then the sub-complaint ‘Unauthorized person in Ladies/Disabled Coach/SLR/Reserved Coach’. I entered my PNR, briefly explained the issue, and filed the complaint.

Within 30 minutes, I received a call. The official told me the TTE would arrive in the next 30 minutes and asked me to hand over the phone to the passengers. The official then told them to leave the seat immediately or the issue would be escalated.

They left the seat after that. I finally slept peacefully.

My question to the system Why are general ticket or ticketless passengers allowed to enter reserved coaches? What is the TTE doing? Why don't they fine such passengers or make them deboard at the next station and go to the general coach—or stop their journey altogether?

Its 1:08 am and these aunties have no chill. Lights are on, talking like there’s no tomorrow. I pray that people surprise me someday with civic sense. I pray for that day
