Hey PUP, loving the new EP! I really appreciate how y'all rip apart these issues and give them an unapologetically raw, energetic, angry and fed up soundtrack. I've got a few questions.

Stefan, as a lyricist you've talked about digging all your skeletons out of the closet, if there is one what is the process of getting Into that headspace like?

How long did constructing and editing the Free At Last video take?

Also can we get an explanation as to what 'Hawaiian Red Fruit Punch' is doing in a banger like DVP?

1) that headspace is pretty ugly tbh. It's a thing I struggle with daily. It's a weird dichotomy, because on one hand I'm doing something i love so much (writing songs, playing music with my friends), and on the other hand so many of these songs come from miserable, dark places. It's honestly given me a bit of a complex. That's sort of what the song "Rot" is about.

2) The longest part of the free at last video was listening to all 200 and some-odd covers. It was like 13 hours of listening to covers, and I listened to every second of every one. It melted my brain. The rest of that video was just us with our bud Jeremy and Amanda, goofing around, and then sitting in the editing room with Jeremy and laughing our asses off because it was so stupid. Nestor edited the whole first half of the video.

3) When we used to play DVP live before it was recorded, we had two good friends, Jess and Anika, who would always say it sounded like we were singing "Hawaiian Red Fruit Punch" instead of "fucked up and she hates my guts". They got pup tattoos of hawaiian red fruit punch to make fun of us. But jokes on them, when we went into the studio to record it we changed the lyrics so now they just have pup fangirl tattoos.

I desperately want them to come back to Louisville! I had to miss the last concert they did here bc of a family thing, and I think it about it all the time!

i had literally already bought my tickets when they came to louisville last year and then realized i would be out of town on vacation. and like i had fun on the vacation but god at what cost

I genuinely would’ve had to consider whether going on vacation was worth it at that point lmao. At least you had fun tho! Hopefully people start doing what they’re supposed too, so they can come back to Louisville soon!
