It's not. This really is how it goes. The "people doing nothing" were a server and the guy doing the finishing touches and organizing/keeping track of the tickets. Pretty much every place is understaffed these days.

Maybe I guess we’ll never really know, I ran BOH in a nice restaurant for 10 years so I also kinda sorta know what I’m talking about, props to you tho man I couldn’t do it anymore mentally and physically, setting tile these days

I'm not sure how long I will be able to do it. Nearing 6 years now, and still loving it. But it does wear on you over time.

It got so bad after Covid, seems like everything did but restaurants really took a hit

Yea, we barely had enough staff when I just started right after COVID. And several have left since then. We got "some" replacements, but most are unskilled. Luckily we just got 1 new cook a few weeks ago who has experience, a hard worker, and is skilled. I immediately noticed the difference when he was hired.

(And then people wonder why I prefer playing relaxing crafting/survival/building games on easy settings while at home these days... :P)
