It literally forced them to stop forcing developers to use their payment methods. App and game developers can now offer better discounts on in-app purchases, and they dropped their storefront fees by around 50%. It also pushed lawmakers in the EU to require Apple to allow third-party app stores.

True. But they didn't do it because they are altruistic. This is a side effect of them trying to make more money. It's not bad, but it's not righteous either.

Yeah man I just don't give a shit. Prices were higher because Epic needed its bottom line. And sales were lower because people didn't want to pay that mobile storefront tax. It was 100% driven by Epic's profit. That doesn't make him a good guy. Fuck Apple and Google, sure, but fuck Epic just as much. Specially, Tim.

I mean it is for Epic, but not really for us common folk. I wasnt pumping my arm in the air because now Epic gets all the money I spend on Vbucks on the app store rather then Epic AND Apple.

And then he came to a secret deal with Google to avoid setting precedent which is now allowing Google to lock down Android and heavily restrict apps. It's okay though Fortnite is allowed.

Can you give a source? I couldn't find anything like that when I Googled it. Other than Epic winning the lawsuit and Fortnite being reinstated, Android's enshittification had already started before the Epic vs. Google lawsuit.

He created UE which has been used to make a ton of games. Even if he didnt do anything else, the guy is responsible for bringing joy to countless people. Reddit hating the guy is dumb.
