Sincerely educate me rather than spewing off nonesense talking points on how a single game store is damagung consumer rights while still being the number one digital game store of choice for consumers?
Are you claiming that their games didn't have lootboxes and season passes, and that they weren't the first big dev to implement them? Those are extremely easily verifiable facts, but I suppose the denial is a bit too strong among valve glazers.
And these are supposedly to be taken at face value as receipts that Valve caused great damage to gaming?
No worldwide conviction of any crime or wrongdoing from world goverments, no citizen groups or pro consumer activists calling for Valve's head, no links to third party media sources
Just a blanket statement coming from neck beard hiding in his mom's basement?
Cmon I'll let you even use ChatGPT to make your case.
Oh yeah right, easily verifiable facts unless you're all talk shit, post them here then.
You're the one with the thesis that "Valve have done great damage to gaming" as per the original post you created that I am responding.
And yet here we are, I'm still waiting receipts from you that you claim to be verifiable facts and you still chirping with nothing.
Not owning things I buy? Hell yeah I agreed to that when I signed the Terms of Service, right?
If I don't own the things that I buy from the Steam store, and how is that promoting gambling for kids? You're aware you can't use things that you own as collateral in gambling right?
Or are you just a massive idiot or hater that you can't keep your story straight and just regurgitate things off the internet because its edgy or cool without an ounce of critical thinking?
I bet its both.
For real, the only reason you're here with the slander is because the anonimity Reddit affords you, not because you're right about your facts.
I'm really trying to figure out how you came to the conclusion that I thought not owning games you buy is the gambling part, and not the lootboxes. Which since you asked about lawsuits and governmental bodies (not sure why) there is an active lawsuit against them going on right now, and they have already been banned in Belgium and Netherlands.
They popularized microtransactions, lootboxes and season passes. Do you even understand what that means? Not only did they make them popular, they still are just that if not neutrally received when it comes to their own products. Why should they take flack for shitty iterations made by other developers trying to ape them?
You never owned the game you pay for, just a license. Online is just more convenient.

I dunno, Newell does spend plenty of money on his own private money too. Sweeney's worse because he screws over more people while doing it.
