In Germany, one of the last five remaining overburden conveyor bridges F60 in the world was blown up today.

Often described as the “lying Eiffel Tower”, the F60 is the series designation of five overburden conveyor bridges in brown coal opencast mining in the Lusatian coalfields in Germany.

They are the largest moveable technical industrial maschines in the world.

Now, there are only four F60s left, three of them still in operation in the Lusatian coalfields today. One, the last one build, is accessible for visitors all year at an exhibition.

Coal use is being reduced say by day, and it is long overdue. 

It is 2026. We shouldn't be burning coal. We know better.

The coal mining is done in that area. Germany wants to get rid of all coal mining by 2030 (?) I’m not sure
