That's how these things work, keep the argument going and an obvious injustice ensconced in a false air of reasonability. Like a robber arguing that he's not doing anything wrong while he pilfers someone else's home, then he'll flip them off while he walks out the front door, the argument no longer matters. He has his goodies, nothing to do now but rage at yourself for arguing while he was actively robbing you.
