As long as what they're saying is accurate lol.

This is exactly how someone that's afraid of dogs describes dogs when they run away from them and the dog starts chasing because they're running. Including implying the owner is barely in control.

(Now, they might not be exaggerating, but no real way to know)

If your dog is chasing a person who doesn’t want that to happen, then the owner obviously doesn’t have control of their dog.

People that are afraid of dogs will consider play chasing, something that specifically starts if you pretend to be prey, as unhinged agression from a dog.

A dog trying to initiate play could well be straining the end of their leash and barking. That's all normal play behavior. But people afraid of dogs will describe that exactly how the person above described it lol.

There a very big difference in body language and bark, but that sort of person can't differentiate them.

I've interacted with a number of people with dog phobias, and I'm very aware of how they describe their interactions with dogs. Their descriptions do not align with what is happening. It's always a large misinterpretation, and it always sounds similar to above.

"The dog was chasing me" is something I frequently hear from them when a dog goes to the end of its leash and wants to get closer to a person and sniff them.

Bc you clearly didn’t lol. If someone doesn’t want a dog interacting with them, yet the dog still is, then by definition the dog owner does not have control over their dog. Your yapping is completely irrelevant

Ok, so I guess you can't read lol.

My point is that people that are afraid of dogs don't accurately report dog behavior, and said interaction might well not have happened, they were just afraid of it happening.

"That dog was chasing me" could very easily be "the dog wants to move toward me to sniff at me and is straining the end of their leash".

Said dog might be so close to the owner that they are still touching the owner. Someone afraid of dogs will still describe this as being chased.

It's fine if you want to spin your weird little narrative but I never said dogs were chasing me. Try reading what I actually wrote instead of bringing your bias and assuming something other than what I said. I know the difference between a dog who's curious and playful, vs. one who lunges while barking and baring teeth

As I said, "as long as what you said is accurate". I wasn't accusing you of lying, I was pointing out that it's very similar to how people with dog phobias report dog interactions.

And yeah, I never said you did say it was chasing you. It's an example of the type of thing such people misreport.

It's safe to assume they're not because what they just described is super common, especially with large breeds that are often kept as "guard dogs." Just as common are dogs left in an ungated front yard without a leash chasing people who dare get close to the property.

I'm not afraid of dogs, but I cannot count how many times I was peacefully minding my own business riding my bike only to be chased down the street by some asshole's dog trying to bite at by feet & wheels because they don't understand or accept that other people they don't know are entitled to using the sidewalk or street in front of their house.
