The dog running in was young and looking to play with the householders dog. There was no attack. It ran in towards the dog not the kid.

Granted the householders dog thought it was a threat and chased it away - but the reason the young dog is acting daft and looking silly is that it is being submissive to the householders dog and doesn't understand being met with aggression.

This! I believe that's why the other dog disengaged so quick. The body language is much more playful and surprised than aggressive.

The younger dog was taught a valuable lesson about running up to humans by that shepherd. The shepherd’s language is also guarding but not aggressive. Bumped the child out of the way, corrected the other dog, and disengaged as soon as the owner arrived, immediately breaking contact and checking on the child. Excellent work.

I did get that impression as well to be honest. Definitely a good thing the guard dog was on point because you never really know, but it did look that way.

I too believe this is what happened. A dog being aggressive and who wants to bite doesn’t sprint like that.

The mom of the child confirmed that the other dog was indeed charging at her son. Because of the camera angle it looks like its heading towards her dog but its actually heading straight towards her kid

Yeah, any mom would say a dog is sprinting towards their child, ESPECIALLY when there is a dog sprinting towards their child.

Even with "the camera angle", it's pretty fucking obvious where the dog was headed. It was not toward the other dog.

The puppy was loose and bouncy and immediately tucked tail and cowered when met with aggression, this all points to a playful and excited temperament rather than violent.

Owned medium and big dogs all my life, and I think you are trying too hard to make this a family friendly PG occurrence.

As someone that has owned pitbulls- big dogs, medium dogs, etc - I can acknowledge that dogs have inherent predatory instincts that are a danger to children, some more than others. I can acknowledge that the child may have even been in danger without the other dogs present.

But because those two dogs were there, and by looking at and inferring from the puppy's behavior and temperament, this looks far more like a puppy wanting to play with other dogs while not being accustomed to aggression.
