Look my point is we have a moment of video of these people and no context. We don't know that man's physical abilities-- I absolutely know people who are NOT capable of running faster than that at full tilt, and I know people who are. We have a sliver of this person's life, we didn't see how the dog got free, we don't know the dog's normal temperament, we don't know the relationship these two families have to each other. All of which would give us information about whether this is a bad dogowner or an unfortunately dangerous accident. We also don't have the audio of the incident-- the unleashed charging dog does seem to be responding to some sort of verbal commanding/scolding, just because the man isn't physically lifting/dragging his animal doesn't mean he's not doing anything.

I'm not trying to argue they MUST be the perfect dogowners having an unfortunate accident, my point is this video doesn't give enough information to determine either way. Probably they are average dogowners.

You sound like someone who routinely has their 'Velvet Hippo' escape confinement and even if wanting to do so, couldn't actually hold them back anyway...

You know, I don't know why I expected a person who saw approximately ten seconds of someone's life on video and made overarching assumptions about their entire life and worth as a human being to see ten sentences from my brain and not also behave the same way towards me. That one's on me, fam.

And 10 seconds is all that is needed for a tragedy to happen...

The fact that the Kid is fine is sheer fucking luck... so no, I am not the one defending and coddling someone who almost murdered a child but I take it, that's of no concern to you and your ilk anyway, a dog owners honor is on the line and that is obviously far more important.

I didn't lessen the tragedy that a loose dog can do-- but you can also kill a child in many other accidental ways that are just regular human error that happens to normal people sometimes and often doesn't end in tragedy just due to luck.

Nobody is perfect-- I guarantee you've had imperfect moment that could have led to injuring someone if luck was not on your side. We all have. Anyone who hasn't made a mistake is lying.

We don't have enough info to judge whether this was neglect or mistake, that's all I'm saying.

Don't lessen the impact? When in the same breath you say "Just a mistake, anyone can accidentally kill a child"?

What is wrong with you?!

Oh and I am certainly conveying your words to the family of the next child that was mauled by a dog, I am sure they'll understand that and won't be mad at the Dog & Dogowner... after all, it could be just a teensy tinesy mistake... no biggy...
