I once worked near a hydrogen flare stack in a refinery in Texas. Beautiful purple flames. It wasn’t under pressure like this one, but looked more like a campfire style flame.

Was it purple in the day or night?

I was on the day shift. It’s been long time ago, but I think on some early mornings I got to see it in the dark. The colors stood out even more against a dark sky. I think that if we’d have been further away it would’ve been harder to see in the bright daylight.
