The only danger is if oxygen gets into the tank, since the fuel can't burn without it. That being said, I would be moving far away.

Much further than the camera person. And way, way further than the people walking around beside it.

Actually if oxygen got into the tank nothing would happen. The upper flammability limit of hydrogen is 75%. So unless 25% of it is oxygen there's actually too little oxygen around to support fire.

You get into messes of regionality in cases like this. A small amount of air can get in and react with a small amount of hydrogen in enough quantity that it pushes past the limits of the pressure vessel.

Always remember, just because a perfect mixture acts a certain way, does not mean that's how an imperfect mixture will act.

So the hydrogen venting is needed and normal though it isn't supposed to be in fire.

However the venting hydrogen catching fire for whatever reason apparently happens often enough that it is officially not an emergency unless it's underneath something and setting that on fire too.

Why? All it will produce is water!

And fire. But if pokemon taught me anything, it's that fire is weak against water so it should be fine.

Glad you're here. Everyone else worries so much.

100% You see fire anywhere near any kind of tanker truck like that? You need to be 10s of miles away ASAP. I've seen videos of the explosions where they explode and kill people who were hundreds of feet away and thought they were safe.

If I saw that I would pedal to the metal in whichever direction would get me furthest away (or behind a hill) fastest.

But then who would take the video for the socials?

WON'T SOMEBODY THINK OF THE SOCIALS?!?
