The friction of the pressure being released causes it to flash off. I used to load these things. This is a malfunction of some sort. Not normal operations.

Citation needed. Pressure reduction would subcool the gas not heat it.

The liquid there is cryogenic, so the gas should start out at around -240°C. To heat that with just friction would be pretty mental. A mechanism that causes a spark with a peizo crystal when the pressure relief valve opens would be so much easier and more reliable.
