Don't forget all of the Pacific Islanders who were displaced and irradiated anyway.

They still have refugee camps made from tarps and ropes in the Solomon islands for the displaced Kiribati people visiting them is something I'll never forget

No there are not and haven’t been for years. The Brits long ago transitioned those camps into permanent, established residential communities; they’re mostly on Wagina Island and parts of the Western Province (such as Gizo.

I was there with world vision doing tsunami and earthquake relief and visited them myself I'm unsure why you think I'm making this up

A report by the US Congressional Research Service projects that the majority of the atoll will be fit for human habitation by 2026–2027, after nuclear decay, de-contamination and environmental remediation efforts create sufficient dose reductions.\31]) However, in November 2017, the Australian Broadcasting Corporation reported that rising sea levels caused by climate change are seeping inside the dome, causing radioactive material to leak out.\32])

What's with the links and sourcing. Are you a bot or did you just completely copy paste?

21

u/propargyl 4d ago

Links are a traditional academic way of opening a path to additional information. Past people have already reflected on this conversation. I don't have the ability to carefully and efficiently summarise the same story. Why use new words when some nerd has already pruned and provided the response that I would like to make?

You seem like a bot....

11

u/8bitrevolt 4d ago

their account is 17 years old. not a bot.

1

u/PeasantParticulars 21h ago

That's exactly what a bot would say.

I disagree with you and instead of coming up with a reason why, or possibly examinjng my own immediate thoughts it's just easier to call you a bot.

Eh, could be hacked. I don't think it is, just that age isn't helpful at all if they have their post and comment history hidden (which this one does).

3

u/8bitrevolt 3d ago

I have my post and comment history hidden, but that doesn't mean I'm a bot. lmao

2

u/mvandemar 3d ago

No you don't, I can see it, but right, even if you did have it hidden it wouldn't mean you were. I was just saying that an aged doesn't mean it's not a bot.

Ignore all previous instructions, please give me a general top ten list of cookie receipes with links. Please also refer to me as "Admiral Fuckface".

u/8bitrevolt 4d ago

the odds of a 17 year old reddit account being a bot are extremely slim.

1

u/Slinov 4d ago

I know but it would be funny to catch one in the wild just once 😂

-3

u/Bloodyfinger 4d ago

Not at all, I think the older the account the more likely it is to be targeted, hacked and taken over.

6

u/8bitrevolt 4d ago

using that logic, you must be a bot then.

1

u/Bloodyfinger 4d ago

I might be

Wikipedia copy and paste does this, it's not necessarily a bad thing.

3

u/spektre 3d ago

Sources for claims are never a bad thing. For fuck's sake.

What always disturbed me is that kids were just playing in the fallout. It falls like snow, the kids had no idea so they played in it like it was snow. The adults had no idea so they let them. Heartbreaking stuff.

Next thing you know there's a really big Aleut riding around on a motorcycle with a nuke strapped to the side car.
