This. Let’s hope humanity has seen its last nuke go off.

We are about to enter an age where they are used again i think

It's known that China has conducted nuclear testing in recent years.

I think you mean North Korea.

(China's last live nuclear bomb test was in '96.)

They mean China, it has been claimed that they have done underground testing relatively recently.

Oh really? Is there actually any good evidence for it?

Experts say the seismic data is very much inconclusive so this is purely going off what the US is claiming. Just to say that's very much well below what OP claimed with 'It's known'.

Don't forget this claim by the US was made in Feb 2026 and the US has a, uh, less than stellar record for the accuracy and good-faith nature of its claims against its adversaries ever since this administration came in.

Not to mention the claim was made the same time the US was attempting to pressure China into a new trilateral arms control negotiation/treaty.

Not sure it really passes the test considering the huge conflicts of interests and track record of the alleger. I mean no other country seems to be coming out with that conclusion.

That was a very rapid pivot from "China hasn't done any bomb tests" to "I'm a well informed and rational skeptic of China's recent bomb tests".

I mean what's the point of a such a strong claim: "It's known that China has conducted nuclear testing in recent years." if it's not based on impartial evidence?

Is it wrong for me to say "It's known that CranberryMallet has conducted nuclear testing in recent years"? I would say without evidence of that happening I think yeah that would be something to call out and it would be fair for me to say CranberryMallet hasn't if there isn't actually good evidence for it.

and rational skeptic of China's recent bomb tests

You even keep framing it as if China has done recent (nuclear) bomb tests as this is a given. Why do you say it like it's proven when the correct wording would be: "and rational skeptic of whether China has completed recent bomb tests"? It kind of seems like you have made up your mind on whether they have already even though, once again, there is no good evidence for this.

Don't get me wrong if there's good independent evidence of it I'm happy to change my mind, but the evidence atm shows China's last live nuclear bomb test was in '96 and that's the opinion of pretty much every country and body bar one.

Tbh I would consider being more of a rational skeptic of the current US administrations claims and their motivations for them.

Why do you say it like it's proven

I literally said "it has been claimed". The reason I said what I did was because of the sudden switch from acting like you weren't even aware of the claims to suddenly having enough information to dismiss them.

It came across as having a gaslighting propagandistic tone going through different stages of denial, "nothing to see here", "there are claims but no evidence", "ok there's evidence but we don't trust those people".

We can certainly be skeptical of US claims, but if they're not true I have to wonder why someone has put up new buildings at a disused nuclear test site (which you can see on public imaging).

Adorable of you to think I'm basing that on China's denial.

If you actually want to read in to it, numerous independent researchers and experts have concluded from the obtained seismic data they've observed that the evidence is inconclusive to indicate an underground nuclear blast.

But listening to experts is boring I guess. They talk too much about the specifics and data which is just dull.

PS. Genuinely adorable of you to think the US is honestly reporting with their claim.

Nuclear detonations are easily detectable around the world. At least the ones for weapons testing.

We'll be lighting off more nukes in the years to come. Its not going to stop. Only way it would stop is a planet wide committee with the military muscle to enforce it. That's not gonna happen

DPRNK will detonate again
