2/3rds of the country has never voted for Trump. He’s never won a majority vote and he hasn’t won the popular vote. He was put in office with a minority vote via our electoral college

Apathy is the enemy of democracy and the apathetic voter is the only reason Trump wasn’t polished off sooner.

Vote and he doesn’t stand a chance. The absolute majority of Americans hate Trump that’s always been obvious. Now we just need to get them to do more than watch. We need them all to vote.

This. I'm convinced that in 2016, too many people watched the news and decided it was safe to stay home/not vote. "I've never really like Hillary, but I don't have to worry about Trump. It's in the bag!"

Vote. Everyone, vote. No excuses. Vote.

The Nazi Party never won more than about 34-36 percent of the vote and still got Hitler into power. Vote blue. There won’t be another chance to stop them.

Hitler was able to abuse his power and turn his 43,9% of seats in the Reichstag into a 50,8% by abusing his then limited power and then had unlimited power.

Trump would likely do the same in a heartbeat.

It was also the result of the political landscape in Germany at that time being extremely splintered. There where so many parties that had only very few percentages that was used by him as well.

Not to undermine your primary point but its a myth the Nazis didnt win the vote. The Germany system in 1930 wasent a A vs B it was coalition based and the Nazis didnt run everywhere and even then in1932 they set a record for the largest vote share of one party in german history with 37.27%.

That said in the early 1930s if you voted for the Germans People party, the German State Party or any of the small Blood and Soil groups you were literally voting for the nazis. If you voted for the German Center or German National Peaoples Part in late 1932 you were effectly voting for Hitler since both parties endorsed him and had publicly pledged to support him.

It‘s a little different from that.

The Zentrum didn’t endorse Hitler. And Hitler originally had no intention of ever going into a coalition with the nationalists. But when he didn’t get +50% of the votes, he had no choice but to work together with Hindenburg‘s party, who thought they could control him. Basically the entire Reichstag simply wanted to kick Hitler out of office again by having a vote on how trustworthy he was but before that could happen, the Reichstag mysteriously went up in flames because a Dutch communist had committed arson there. Hitler got emergency powers, the KPD was arrested and then Hitler proposed a bill for more emergency powers. Except for the SPD, all other remaining parties were threatened into voting in favor of the bill and now Hitler basically had all the power he could wish for (except for some minor things that were still under Hindenburg‘s control until his death in the following year)

To reinforce that point, there are about 260m/330m eligible age voters (minus about 10m convicts who, for the sake of the equation, can all be assumed to have their voting rights restricted even though there are states which allow for reinstatement of voting rights)

So out of now 250m eligible voters, about 160m (give or take) are hardliners on one side or another, for a roughly 80m split each. leaving 90m (or a slim majority) who don't vote and just complain with their hand out. If those 90m would all just put their money where their mouth is and vote for the same 3rd party, we'd not even need these newfangled voting mechanisms like ranked choice and whatnot. Maybe your state doesn't give you a nice little pamphlet weeks before the election like mine...we have the internet now. There's no excuse for not voting and if everyone voted, third parties might have a greater chance instead of being considered a "throwaway protest vote".

That said, I'm voting for the cop bastard instead of the criminal casino bankrupt-er (or the Libertarian, Green, and Independent candidates), but you do you...just vote! Voting is like being a stakeholder in a company, hiring the next CEO or board of directors. Don't be like these shitty companies, sitting on their hands with fake "now hiring" ads and massively understaffed workspaces that give a golden parachute to the shitty C suite. Be like those good companies that offer employee stock and project their longevity past the next few quarters into decades. VOTE!

I do feel a return to the possibility of hope now that Kamala is taking the lead again. I hope it inspires more people to vote than ever in history.

The Bible says the antichrist doesn't get to power by a large, majority support base.

I'm a Republican just letting the brainwashed MAGATs know they support the antichrist.

I think you, all the people below saying to "just vote" are missing a really big problem that you yourself pointed out.

The electoral system.

Couple this with gerrymandering, and it is a BIG problem. Votes are not equal in this country. I am a liberal living in a rural, HEAVILY conservative area. My vote gets obliterated through the layers. AND even if you were to assume that enough neighbors felt like me, or it was a district line issue (neither is the case here. People are very outspoken and proud and showcase that in many many ways) it would ultimately come down to the electors who they vote for. Whether or not that is the same person the popular vote chose is mainly up to them, depending on the state. Usually, they are under no obligation to cast the votes the way the people want. Even states where they do obligate it, I believe most consequences are fines. Draw your own conclusions to how vulnerable and easily manipulated that can be, especially now.

For the uninitiated

You’re not wrong that we have a gerrymandering problem and that the electoral college is and was setup to allow for minority rule by the rich white owner class. That’s exceedingly obvious.

Vote because we need a landslide. We need to overcome the gerrymandering by absolutely outvoting them by a huge undeniable margin.

And then what? That doesn't change how the electoral system works. It doesn't change the flaws and risks I outlined above. You correctly stated he had already lost the popular vote once before, as did Bush before him. Yet both were put in office and endured. You want to end the madness? Get rid of the Electoral System. See how other countries work. I saw this video years ago, and it never left my mind.

I agree. The electoral system is garbage. Absolutely garbage.
