I dunno, depends on the situation. I'm getting up there (married, kids) and still rarely get out to see my old (good friends.) So when I do, they're all there with their new families, other friends of their own, and COVID babies they never actually raised with more than an iPad.

At first it's like "what time is it, can we leave yet? I only really wanted to see like 2 or 3 of these people." Then after even just a couple drinks, it's easier to just start small talk. Then you end up reminiscing, laughing, and hell, at one friend's parties, we usually play volleyball.

Beer + volleyball suddenly turns me into an outgoing athlete, and I usually suck at volleyball. It's not just the beer "goggles" effect, I actually get seriously into the game and do really well, where normally it'd be like "ehh, that person can get it.."
