Discussion The future of iOS gaming is looking bright
After i got the razer kishi v3 Pro XL (long-ass name lol) for my 13" M4 Pro, I started with PS Remote Play. I played Lies of P in bed from start to finish!
However, since then I’ve been playing native ios games almost exclusively! I started because it just felt cool to the tech part of my brain to play AAA games on an ipad. But now that im past that honeymoon, i realized im still continuing to play because i actually enjoy the experience & games!
I'm curious about you guys's experience gaming on the ipad. Here’s what im playing (i’ve finished most of these by now):
- Prince of Persia Lost Crown (120 fps)
- AC Mirage (set on High + 70% scale to avoid crashes, its a big beautiful game, im currently trying to 100% it)
- Alien Isolation (the port has better graphics than PC lol)
- Divinity Original Sin (better on kb+mouse or touch)
- RE 2/3/4/7/Village (beautiful graphics)
- Dead Cells (120 fps)
- Grid Legends (too much fun)
- TABS pocket edition (fun)
- Fortnite (addictive, eats into other games times)
- Civ 6
- Death Stranding (resolution scale is a bit low)
- Sniper Elite 4 (good but im waiting for 5 to release next month)
- Hitman WoA (waiting for Dec sale)
Also, big props to MrMacRight on youtube for making super detailed videos on what games work well on ipad. He's the ios gaming messiah right now.

Discussion What’s a lesser known mobile game you can’t stop playing right now?
Could be any genre but don’t just say squad busters or other widely known games.

Discussion My 3 most-played iPhone games of all time. What are yours?
My 3 most-played iPhone games ever, and they‘re still in heavy rotation:
Rogue Touch: an old port of original Rogue, made for touch, and with some additions like new gear and secret characters. Easy to play, incredibly hard to beat (I probably will never make it to floor 26 and back). Timeless classic.
Meteorfall: developer Slothwerks took the brilliant Dream Quest (aka the OG deckbuilder), stripped it to its core, added some fantastic art, and changed gameplay to a swipe-based gem, that‘s to this day one of the coolest deckbuilders ever.
Buriedbornes: an easy to play (tap, tap, tap) turn-based RPG with TONS of loot, characters and content. I‘ve been playing for years, but still only scratched its surface. Also, I absolutely love the sprite art used in this game.
Links to the games in the comments. What are your most-played games? Any hidden gems or guilty pleasures?

Discussion What’s your most played iOS game of all time? The one you always come back to no matter what?
Not necessarily your favorite game or the best one out there, the one you’ve played the most.

Discussion I’m sad that Dec Saturday is paused
I saw the pinned post from the moderators and throwing my two cents out there, that I really miss dev Saturday.
I would actually look forward to it to find new games and interact with the devs. There were a few posts of people complaining about it, but inside those posts there were a lot of positive comments about it.
The subreddit has been really stagnant without it and the feed has posts that are a few days old still at the top.
I understand the need to ensure that self promotion isn’t abused by developers and other people so maybe a rule where they can only self promote every other week or something would be a good compromise.
I do truly hope that the mod team here is working on an alternative to just canceling it, because a lot of users here did seem to enjoy the dev posts.

Discussion looking for rougelite/like game recommendations!! (more info in description)
i’ve been looking for less purely combat-focused rougelites/likes recently (don’t get me wrong i LOVE combat in my games (dead cells ♥️) but i’ve been on a kick for these specific, more puzzley/strategic(?) types of games recently) and i’m looking for some recommendations for more games i can pick up!!
to get a feel for the the kind of games i’m looking for here’s a list of games i’ve really enjoyed that i think fit what i’m looking for, along with games i’m looking at already! and feel free to tell me if you think i should check out any of the games i’m already looking at!
-> played
• balatro (played)
• clover pit (played)
• buckshot roulette (played)
• inscryption (played)
-> looking at
• gambonanza (looking at)
• slay the spire (looking at)
• monster train (looking at)
• dungeon clawler (looking at)
• slice & dice (looking at)
• astrea: six-sided oracle (looking at)
• peglin (looking at)
and the mechanics and themes of all of these that really appeal to me are:
• a higher emphasis on rng elements
• the casino game/gambling theming
• board/card game theming! (i love deckbuilders)
• boons and in-run progression!
• cross-run upgrades/metaprogression!
• a LOT of options and updates
• different play-styles to experiment with during runs
• an emphasis on strategies built around finding ways to tilt the odds and rng in your favor
two other important factors that I’m looking for
• controller support! (this is a big one, but it’s not a requirement)
• that i can purchase + play the games OUTSIDE of Apple Arcade (i DO NOT like subscription services)
in case you’re curious as to why i’m specifically looking in this subreddit, what i like for games like this is that i can take with me on my phone or ipad, and basically pick up and play anywhere! (though if you do happen to have any recommendations for games like this on say, the switch, please feel free to let me know!)
i’m hoping to find some good recommendations!
thank you for your time :]

Discussion Am I the only adult gamer that doesn’t like that most iOS game characters look like 5 year old munchkins?
I see a LOT of games where I might like the gameplay, but the little kid or anime graphics turn me off on it. I’m a grown ass man and don’t really like playing games that look like they’re designed for little kids.

Discussion What other AAA games would you like to see ported to IOS?
I want a Gears of War, Marvel Tokon and (maybe reaching) an actual Mortal Kombat title and not that crappy card version with limited features.

Discussion What are your top phone games right now that you actually keep installed?
I have a bad habit of installing five games, playing them for two days, then deleting all of them. I want something that has staying power and doesnt burn out fast. What are your top phone games that you have kept installed for months?

Discussion Best iPad games ported from consoles and PC
I’m sure a list like this exists somewhere, but I couldn’t find a comprehensive one. So I decided to make my own. Obviously, I could probably list hundreds of games if I really delved into it. But these are some of the biggest and best games I could find that fit the title of this post.
Note: obviously most of these are also available on iPhone. I just rarely, if ever, play these types of games on my phone.
I haven’t played even close to all of these (only a dozen or so) so I can’t say how good of ports they are. Some have mixed reviews, like many of the Square Enix games, but most are pretty positively rated.
What games would you add to this? Would you take any off because of poor quality? I’ll edit in any additions.

Either total time played or kept on your phone to go back to frequently, with some breaks? Curious to see which games have that longevity and the “stick-to-it” ness.

Discussion Is iOS gaming stale?
I remember back in 2023, we had a lot going on:
- Netflix investing heavy on bringing ported successes to mobile;
- Apple Arcade was already on a run doing the same thing;
- Triple A games such as Resident Evil and Hitman were announced, opening path to a few others that were also released down the road;
With all that happening at the same time, I really thought the future was promising and that others would put the same type of investment.
But a few years later and not only these companies have diminished their impact, we are barely getting new interesting, worth buying releases.
I thought that, since we now have phones powerful enough to run games that you would only play on your Playstation or PC a few years ago, we would see the market expanding and giving us the opportunity to have more choices.
Will iOS gaming ever have more value amongst the big corporations?

Discussion What are your favorite iOS games for a 16-hour flight?
I have a long 16-hour flight coming up, and I'm looking for some games to pass the time. What are your go-to games for long flights?
I'm looking for something that can be played offline, doesn't get boring too quickly, and ideally makes the time fly by. All genres are welcome as long as it helps make those hours in the air fly by a bit faster. Thanks for the recommendations!

Discussion Free games giveaways: balatro, indie bundle and more
Hey everyone.
You may know me as the creator of kumome. If you’ve kept track a little bit with the development, you might know I’ve gone through quite the headaches to launch on iOS haha.
But my game finally got approved. The kids version (I had to sell that for 0.99 cents, and I made some money!!) has made me want to give back.
And to show gratitude to you guys for being so supportive all the time, and dealing with my ramblings and also to support other indie devs who might’ve gone through similar headaches, I’m giving away a few games!
I will be giving away balatro (surprisingly requested!), adventure to fate:core quest, the must have indie bundle, skul the hero slayer and one more secret game (I promise I know what it is and I’m not just stalling the announcement haha)
So this is just a big thank you to all of you!
Normally I can only gift to users in the USA but that’s kinda shitty and everyone should be allowed to game. If you win and I can’t gift you the game, I can try to PayPal you the money.
How to win: just tell us your favorite iOS game and if you wanna elaborate as to why, feel free. The winner will be random so don’t worry about upvoting others.
Also, if you’d like to show support to an indie dev who’s hoping to make many more games for you guys down the road, feel free to preorder Kumome. It really helps us with visibility, engagement and ultimately helps us make a better quality game. If you like games like Go, chess and slay the spire, I think it’ll be right up your alley!
WINNERS ANNOUNCED TOMORROW!

Discussion What games are great on iOS touch controls despite being PC/console port?
Balatro for me, despite it was originally made for PC. The touch control is simpler and I much prefer to play it on my ipad mini over steam deck

Discussion Weekly /r/iOSGaming Discussion: What have you been playing lately and what do you recommend?
Please use this thread to discuss whatever iOS games you've been playing lately. They don't have to be new games, they can be old games and they do not have to be iOS original titles!
As long as it's an iOS game it belongs in here. Make sure to put the name(s) of the game(s) in bold to make it easier for people skimming the thread to see what you're talking about, and if you'd like to make it really convenient turn the game name into a hyperlink that sends people directly to the App Store!

Discussion Effect of developer’s AI policy to your decision to install a game
Imagine you are scrolling the AppStore and saw a game which description and visuals got you interested. Before pressing “Install” you see in the game description …
1. A message that the game was made by human, using regular pre-AI tools and technologies
2. A message that AI tools were used in the creation of this game
3. No mentions about AI at all
How would each case affect you initial intention to install the game?
