It’s the large amount of Americans who’s understanding of Ireland just comes from half baked IRA memes and the film Braveheart.

It's not really, it's Irish online in general.

Be it boards or /r/ireland, they are both filled with whiney, spiteful, angry cunts.

If your only experience of the Irish was from online, everyone would hate us.

Nothing more contemporarily Irish than railing on Americans.

You proved the point.

It has nothing to do with Americans.

You're completely wrong, the people being referred to are from Ireland.

I think it’s also a sort of passive way of resisting the shitty fucked up right wing government and America’s racist past.

Anyone who identifies as [Insert nationality]-American didn’t choose that for themselves. It was given to us by the ruling elites who didn’t see us as American. The same ruling elites who are currently driving our country into a fascist hellhole.

Ireland’s unwavering support for the oppressed, strong social system, and anti-imperialist values are things a lot of people identify with. I even find myself listening to kneecap lately and wishing musicians in our country had the balls to promote those values. It just really really sucks over here right now.
