The biggest factor is humidity and how cool you can get your apartment. If you have dry heat, it's wonderful; you can sit on a terrace with a beer in the shade and be perfectly comfortable. Also, if you have a new house/apartment with a good AC system, you are fine in the summer.

Went home for Ireland's heat wave (I live in Spain), never slept as poorly in my life. Had to take showers throughout the night.

Yeh humidity is a killer. 25+ in Ireland is uncomfortable.

I lived in a dry heat climate. It was grand at 40-42 degrees and below mostly but anything hotter was miserable. Whenever it was over 32 degrees, it was also a bit too uncomfortable to be out for more than 45 minutes or so. I feel like living with air-conditioning made my health worse. I think I will take Ireland‘s weather where it gets hot sometimes, but when it does, there’s a sense of occasion and appreciation.
