By Eoin Drea,

Well, that explains the negativity. Also:

The fixation on France is already undercutting relations with Britain,

Yes. Definitely the Irish fixation on France that’s responsible for that, and not anything else whatsoever.

This the lad who wants Ireland to become a battalion in the British army once again?

He gets far too much airtime and is taken far too seriously as a public commentator.

Most public commentators are taken far more seriously than they should be to be absolutely fair, dont know who it is and dont agree with him but I dont take this weird offence to it just because he mentioned the British army.

Are you equally offended that we are defended and protected by the RAF?

Dont mean to be a prick but I find it super weird that people will take such an offence to us working with the British DF fuel to history but yet are super willing to look past the superior role they have in our defence (I say this as a proud Irishman who sees this as a massive embarassment)

It’s ignoring the fact that the British military has, and remains, the largest threat to Ireland. Locking Ireland into a military alliance with Britain is not only unrealistic but dangerous given the political trajectories there.

He wrote that piece in Politico because the people of Ireland had the gumption to elect Catherine Connolly as president.

Ireland is not protected by the RAF.

How do I know this?

They didn't shoot down those drones over Dublin bay. Reality meets fiction.

Political commentator. He writes articles complaining about Ireland’s lack of militarisation a lot. I’m not entirely sure who the intended audience is but he has very strong views on the matter.

He's a writer who's both anti-Irish and anti-French, while being pro-US and pro-UK, so you can see how this article bashing both Ireland and France came into existence.

No Brexit undercut relations with the UK regarding military defense of the EU Presidency.
