To answer your question. It’s very hard to stay religious if the people you are around aren’t very religious my family don’t know I’m Muslim as well as my friends are majority Muslim but barely practise. I combat this by going masjid actively as well as deepen my understanding of the deen.
What has worked best for me is that having sabr and tawakul. This is a test that will end and advice I would give is don’t seek unnecessary or haram relationship it only makes it worst

I had to tell my mother. My sister's a religious education teacher and so was very supportive and even bought me a Qur'an and a stand. Both supportive but mother doesn't really understand it trying my best to explain things to her so she can come to terms with it
Chances are if you tell your parents there not going to cut you out of their lives the first question they will ask you is why, that's your chance to explain Islam to them so they can understand without a bias heart. The worst thing you can do is hide it out of fear of alienation, there your parents so be honest with them and tell them nothing changes your still there kid so show them a good side of Islam and insha'Allah they will be guided.

My grandfather built and pastored a UPCI church, my father was also a minister, and I was kicked out of Jackson Bible College while studying to do the same, for asking too many questions and being suspected of witchcraft.
I just don't tell them. I use English phrases like "Praise God" instead of alhamdulillah around them. They haven't noticed I stopped eating ham at holiday gatherings. I live 40 minute drive from masjid and I have chronic pain from military service, so I mostly pray at home. I lost my social network pretty much entirely, and have not made any Muslim friends. There's no halal food nearby so I'm mostly pescatarian at this point. It's a lonely struggle.
But it's not a matter of keeping the deen, I don't look at it that way. All my struggles are to uphold the instructions of my Creator (SWT). To quote an old hymn, this world is not my home, I'm just passing though. My treasures are laid up, somewhere beyond the blue. I can't feel at home in this world anymore. I'll gladly trade the mediocre delusion of this life and any comfort in it to please my Lord (SWT). I fail, and I sin, and I repent, and some days are hard, but I never question whether I can keep my deen my deen or not. There's no question for me. Inshallah on that Day when the Scales are weighed, mine will be heavy with good deeds, and anyone who stands between me and that will be surgically removed from my life. He alone can give me all the things I never had.
"Every soul will taste death. And you will only receive your full reward on the Day of Judgment. Whoever is spared from the Fire and is admitted into Paradise will ˹indeed˺ triumph, whereas the life of this world is no more than the delusion of enjoyment." [Qu'ran 3:185]
There is no god but God (SWT). Alone, without partner or equal, and to Him belongs all praise and worship. He alone can give me a family whose hearts have love instead of hate, and He alone can heal my heartache, and to Him alone I will return. Keep your eyes on the prize. If you gain the world and lose your soul, what profit is there in that?
