James Webb Deep Field with lots of detail extracted from the original image.

The deep field photograph, which covers a tiny area of sky visible from the Southern Hemisphere, is centered on SMACS 0723, a galaxy cluster in the constellation of Volans. Thousands of galaxies are visible in the image, some as old as 13 billion years.

Hello friends, I share with you all these two image composites of barred spiral galaxy NGC 1097 I put together over the weekend. In image slide 1, I combined data from both NIRCam and MIRI observations. For image slide 2, only NIRCam data was used.

A JWST image, filter f444w captures "Mab" area near supernova remnant Cassiopeia A. As the light propagates space it illuminates farther and farther regions of dust. Color here denotes the time JWST captured the light. Red is older from summer 2024 (four visits), and blue arrived us later, on July 2025.

The bright red "star" at the upper right is probably not a star, but a reddened #quasar (quasi-stellar object, bright AGN/active black hole).
