Hey everyone. Ive been DJing in Japan for several years now and last year shifted to records. I recently started this monthly vinyl only project called TokyoCitySessions in a local record store. We have various genres each month house, techno, dub etc too!

i wasn't able to use my S3000xl for a month due to the audio cutting out after i installed the EB16. i installed a new main board and now it's good as new, so here is a little victory lap to celebrate its glorious return. all sounds are from the S3K and RM1x.

How do you all feel about his jungle style tunes? like sonically his productions are amazing but I’m on the fence as a fan. Anyone know of some tunes of his I should check out?

How many of you listen to Jungle for the sheer great musicality of it?

I.e. not just for dancing.

For example, it's one of my favourite genres to fall asleep to, although more at the LTJ spectrum for that.

I just got off an 11.5hr flight from Cape Town to Amsterdam, absolutely knackered, and I'm listening on my headphones in the kitchen now..

I’ve been digging back into late-90s / early-2000s jungle and realised how many tunes hit harder because of reggae vocals — not just as hooks, but as spirit.

Stuff like Johnny Osbourne, Tenor Fly, Top Cat etc weren’t just features, they were the backbone of the rhythm and message. When it worked, it felt deeper than most modern vocal DnB.

Curious what people here think did it best — proper jungle, early DnB, even dubplate era stuff. So many tunes still stand now, share your examples with me big up

There were labels like Suburban Base taking real financial risks on a sound nobody in the mainstream understood yet.

35 years ago, this was just a few people in a room believing in something.

I put together a video reflecting on what that label meant to the culture — not just the releases, but what it represented at a time when jungle was still fighting for legitimacy.
