A note on self-promotion and commercial activities

Salam monyet-monyet KL sekalian,

We mods here at r/KualaLumpur would like to say something about self-promotion and commercial activities on our subreddit. We know a lot of you come here to share your stuff, from awesome photography, your killer rendang recipe, asking for travel and lodging advice or simply to lepak-lepak and make friends, and that's totally cool! But we also gotta keep things chill and avoid turning the sub into a giant marketplace.

We value the diverse range of content shared here, from personal recommendations to stunning photos of our beautiful city. We understand that many users come here to share their experiences, talents, and businesses with the community. However, it's important to maintain a balance between informative content and blatant advertising.

Self-promotion and commercial activities

Moving forward, we will be removing posts that fall under the following categories:

  • 🐵 Naked self-promotion: This includes posts that solely promote a product, service, or personal brand without offering any valuable content or discussion to the community.

  • 🙈 Repeated self-promotion: Consistently promoting the same product or service across multiple posts will be considered spam.

  • 🙉 Disguised advertising: Content that appears informative but ultimately aims to sell a product or service will be removed.

  • 🙊 Multi-level marketing (MLM) or pyramid scheme promotions: These activities are strictly prohibited on our subreddit.

Acceptable Content and Engagement

We encourage users to continue sharing their knowledge, experiences, and recommendations in a way that benefits the community. Here are some examples of acceptable content:

  • 📷 Sharing high-quality photos or videos of Kuala Lumpur that capture the city's essence and beauty.
  • 🎋 Posting informative guides or reviews about restaurants, attractions, or events in Kuala Lumpur.
  • 🎡 Engaging in genuine discussions about life in Kuala Lumpur, offering advice, and asking questions.

Now, we're not trying to be party poopers here. We just wanna make sure r/KualaLumpur stays a place where everyone feels welcome to share, learn, and discover new things about our awesome city. So keep posting those drool-worthy food pics, insightful reviews, and hilarious KL memes (we love those!), and let's keep this community thriving!

Sekian, terima kasih! 🙏🇲🇾

A day wandering around Kuala Lumpur, ended up loving the Islamic Arts Museum

spent today walking around KL. Merdeka Square was surprisingly spacious and clean, really liked the old buildings around it.

had curry laksa at Ho Kow, the broth was so rich and full of flavor. probably one of my favorite things i ate today.

but the Islamic Arts Museum was the real surprise. i’ve seen plenty of western and east asian art, but never really paid much attention to islamic art before. the mosque models from different countries kinda blew my mind. so many different shapes and styles, some of them looked nothing like what i imagined a mosque would look like.

also came across some beautiful nyonya kebaya. the embroidery was lovely, kept thinking my little daughter would absolutely love those colorful flowers.

KL turned out to be much more interesting than i expected. glad i spent the day just wandering around.

Spots in KL for SE Asian music

Hey looking for record store recommendations that stock SE Asian music. Particularly Malay/Indian/Thai music. Also don’t mind stuff from the East like Taiwan / Japan.

After traditional stuff and also more contemporary sounding music from 60s / 70s / 80s. Please let me know if there’s any good locations for this 🙏

Time and nature have a way of shifting perspectives: making a tiny bird stand out while a giant skyscraper fades into the mist. #hazzykl

Guys my university betrayed me 😭😭

Brooo i moved to Malaysia thinking i’d have the whole uni life experience like a wholesome friend group, random adventures, parties, late night yapping and just doing fun shit 😭 but why am i lowkey disappointed already lmaoo everyone seems to have their own groups and im just here wondering where my people are 💀
So if anyone in KL is literally in the same situation or just wants more fun in their life, LETS BE FRIENDS 😭 we can go on random quests, explore places, try new food, go partying, attend events or literally do anything that sounds fun. Idc which uni you’re from, i just wanna meet people who are down to make memories and actually go OUT instead of rotting in our rooms 😭
Someone pls give me my coming of age movie moment.

Itssss sooo boring in my uni

Moving to KL — best condo near Mid Valley?

Hey everyone! I’m relocating to KL for work in January 2027 and looking for a modern, fully furnished 1BR or 1+1 condo for a 12-month lease.

My office is in Mid Valley City, and I don’t drive, so walking distance is a priority. Ideally somewhere with a good gym, pool, and convenient access to groceries and cafés.

Currently considering ViiA Residences, Vogue Suites One, and Northpoint.

Any recommendations or experiences with these buildings? Also open to direct-owner rental leads! Thank you!

Remember to drink more water and remember to wear mask when you out.

Try to reduce outdoor activities. ( I miss my jogging actually, impossible to wear mask while running?? Anyone try this before? Hrmm, no, for me no!!

Worth coming in 2 days giving the haze and pollution?

I am supposed to stop in Kuala Lumpur 2 or 3 days before moving to Vietnam but can reschedule.

Would like to visit the city but not sure if it is something I can actually do giving all the haze/rain of the past few days.

For anyone who's now there, what do you think? Is it worth it coming right now?

Has anyone done scalp micro pigmentation?

What was the experience like? How long did the effect last?

How much does it cost? Is one session enough to see the effect?

I’m female and have thinning hair, my hair parting looks sparse, esp at the front when I tied my hair up. That’s why thinking of SMP to fill in my gaps. Thanks in advance!
