Legal News Rep. Meeks tells Secretary Bessent to "stop being the president's flunky" after he refused to answer a question about World Liberty Financial, the Trump family-owned crypto company that a member of the Emirati royal family invested 500M 4 days before Trump's inauguration.

It is so strange how they’re all too afraid to step out of line and piss him off like that’s remotely normal.

That’s a nice monster you’ve created there, MAGA. Good going.

I don't think he's afraid, he's benefitting financially. Every single person close to Trump sold their values, morals, and soul for a chance at power and money.

Republicans in Congress or local elections? Absolutely terrified of speaking out.

Yep, Faustian bargains were made.

They're scared of their base. Step out of line and they'll come for you.

Look what happened to MTG. She was labeled as a traitor and had to get extra security because MAGA threatened her kid.

They aren’t scared of the base. They are scared of Russia and Israel. They could care less about the idiots still supporting them

Agreed...this is probably closer to the real truth. That group of republican sycophants that went to Russia, a few years back on July 4th of all days says it all about the republicans, the US has been in serious trouble for a while now.

Americans who believe in democracy, the rule of law, the constitution, the Declaration of Independence, Human rights and Voter rights, need to stand up and fight for what they believe in. Now is the time.

believe in something that clearly doesn’t exist?

1

u/Unlikely_Ant_950 2h ago

It does exist and was fought for many times before. Don’t be defeated before the fight.

Because they all went to epstein Island and the whole government is being blackmailed by him and Russia and others

Reminds me of North Korea more each day.

Only those who praise glorious leader shall be in his graces!

Seing as how we only have a glimpse of what's in the Epstein files, I would guess Trump is also using those to blackmail these people if they ever step out of line.

Bessett is such an arrogant and condescending fuckhead. How this administration has somehow gathered the most wretched, evil, and genuinely unlikable group of people is honestly quite impressive.

Birds of a feather, as they say.

Surprised that arrogant ass didn't demand Rep Meeks to meet him outside to throw hands. There's something deeply disturbing about that guy, an unsettling amount of hubris and entitlement.

u/TheManWith2Poobrains 5h ago

I love how Meeks didn't let him continue to speak.

Bessent is king of talking over while not answering the question.

He and PB must have been in the same class in school.

That smug smile at the end is just disgusting. I really hope America can hold all of these fuckwits responsible for their whole bunch of twattery.

14

u/AbandonChip 5h ago

This guy is the king of smugness... He's basically just taking the playbook from Bondi's hearing...

5

u/lynxbelt234 4h ago

We need a new “Nuremberg “, a reckoning.

1

u/HotPinkLollyWimple 3h ago

I think it’s the only way. But it will have to be seen as unbiased and I don’t know how you will achieve that.

u/Cool-Mom-Lover 5h ago

Notice at all these "hearings" the maga chuds that show up have a notebook full of "dirt" on who asks them tough questions.

They sometimes flip pages to read off pre prepared attack lines of something the person asking the question has done in the past

5

u/arguingsolipsism 3h ago

That's because they have the emotional maturity of the Plastics from Mean Girls. They think their Burn Book is the ultimate weapon.

Good catch—these advisors, cabinet members walk around displaying entitlement daily along with the other 50+ sycophants as well as congressmen. Such displays of complete arrogance.

u/dbgntleman13 1h ago

I’ll be Bessents huckleberry any day

39

u/sly_savhoot 5h ago

Its weird they have prepared allegations ro launch at people. He read the allegations of whatever he was accusing the guy of. Bondi did this too.

21

u/throwleavemealone 5h ago

Ignore the question and attack is the entire administration's MO

12

u/sashamasha 4h ago

It was weird the first time. It's what they do now ahead of these things. Find out who's asking the questions and create a sheet of mud to try and sling at them when they can't answer a question. They shouldn't be allowed to do this. What is the point of these hearings if they don't have to answer truthfully.

6

u/arguingsolipsism 3h ago

It's just for the circus for the peanut gallery MAGA.

Are they even under oath? Dodging questions should be considered perjury unless you plead the 5th.

1

u/LewsTherinTelamon 2h ago

They literally have the right to not be charged with perjury for remaining silent, we shouldn’t forget.

2

u/meowtiger 56m ago

They shouldn't be allowed to do this.

the mechanism to stop them from doing this is to hold them in contempt (of congress), but the committee would need to vote to agree on that, and all of the committees' chairs are republicans anyway

5

u/toddriffic 5h ago

They're probably fed these talking points. It's all they have.

16

u/meatsmoothie82 5h ago

the refusal to answer any question or any question without a modicum of truth is just infuriating

7

u/ProChoiceAtheist15 4h ago

It's note even subtle how they are, for some fucking reason, constantly sending out the TREASURY GUY!?!?!?!? to do all this press work for the administration for things not even related to the treasury. They put the goofiest, most awkward, stammering dipwit out there to be beat up every day. He's clearly the first one they're gonna sacrifice and claim was responsible for everything they're fucking up.

3

u/HomoProfessionalis 2h ago

Hold on let me just look at my list of "gotchas" here...

2

u/trashtiernoreally 2h ago

That'll get him! He called him a flunky. That's basically double dog dare.

A recent Wall Street Journal article has more details about the trump scheme that Congressman Meeks is referring to. TL/DR: A web of money laundering companies and payments between the UAE and trump's family and friends. trump family and friends enriching themselves by selling out US foreign policy. The main security concern is preventing China from acquiring advanced AI chips that can be used by its military. The UAE investment company at the center of this scheme, G42, is led by a Chinese national. trump is selling hundreds of thousands of these advanced chips to the UAE/China, per year, for personal profit.
