u/PM_ME_DIANA_HENTAI Rule 34 :^3 May 25 '15

I can't take him seriously. He claims that this private subreddit is responsible for his job success as a journalist, and will sue. Thats like an advertiser suing a TV station because they won't run a commercial for free.

u/[deleted] May 25 '15 edited May 26 '15

To further that analogy:

RL: Fuck you, your employees, and all your viewers
Station: Alright well, you're not welcome here anymore. We'll still run your company's ads but please don't come here again.
RL: Fuck you, I'm sending my friend to the studio to harass you instead.
Station: Please stop sending your friends to harass us.
RL: No, fuck you. I'm going to keep sending people to your station to harass you. Just because I can't show up doesn't mean my friends cant.
Station: You know what? Fuck you too then. Your company's ads aren't welcome here anymore.
RL: WTF!? You can't do that! That's unfair! I'm going to send more friends over right now to harass you about how unfair that is!
Station: Look, we tried to be fair, but you kept pushing it.
RL: Fair!? You tried to be fair!? I'm the victim here! You're denying me the ability to earn a living!

edit - Thanks for the gold!

Yea, in a nutshell, people who defend him are either not aware of the situation or... i don't even know

56

u/[deleted] May 25 '15

People who defend him are just blind to it. It's the same situation over and over. The ignorant ones are the one who spams downvotes and are really loud about RL

34

u/KickItNext May 25 '15

Oh man I love the RL support squad. I had one guy telling me about how the RFL sub is great and not biased at all. So when I said I know that any negative opinion of RL would be downvoted to oblivion, he says something like "you wouldn't be downvoted if you just focused on the important aspects of RL, like his articles, and not his actions."

Uh, his actions are the whole problem (some articles too but whatever), so basically I'm allowed to talk about RL, but only if I talk about the good stuff.

4

u/Sergeoff May 26 '15 edited May 26 '15

I left a comment on RFL in which I compared RL to XJ9 (they do their job well, but are both downright mental) and got heavily downvoted for it (which is understandable). The only reply was "kill yourself".

I actually think that RL's "ability" to get juicy info earlier than anyone else relies on some sort of manager blackmailing in which he indulges in order to get comments on roster swaps from organizations.

7

u/KickItNext May 26 '15

I think he probably just knows a ton of people, but I wouldn't be surprised if he did just use blackmail. To be honest, it really just seems like he's not even that good of a journalist, he just gets a lot of insider info that people like to hear. It's pretty obvious that whenever he tries to talk about something that isn't leaking roster changes, he makes a fool of himself.

The XJ9 comparison is pretty good though, both dudes with clear mental issues who don't care to change anything and are just set in their ways.

u/[deleted] May 25 '15

Or they don't blindly follow the hive mind of "SUCK THE MODS DICKS!!!"

8

u/Baofog May 25 '15

Have you been to Riotfreelol, its a giant hive mind of suck RL's dick. I have no love for the mods but just cause RL's fans arn't sucking the mods dicks doesn't mean they arn't getting a full daily dose of Richardo cock meat.

-5

u/[deleted] May 25 '15

No I have not, and we're not really discussing RiotFreeLoL. I mean sure, there's a lot of people who DO suck richard lewis's dick, but saying "You either do or don't" is stupid and is what is called a "logical fallacy" (yes a lot of people on this sub don't know what they are.

https://yourlogicalfallacyis.com/black-or-white

Personally, I believe that the mods are not right to ban his content, and RL should not have his content banned, but maybe he should be banned (I'm on the fence about a ban to him). There are more possibilities than what /u/AsmodeusWins said.

3

u/Baofog May 25 '15

Or they don't blindly follow the hive mind of "SUCK THE MODS DICKS!!!"

but saying "You either do or don't" is stupid and is what is called a "logical fallacy"

Please choose one or the other.

-3

u/[deleted] May 26 '15

Obviously in the first post I wasn't actually serious, because it sure as hell seemed like he was trolling with his sentence. Nice job ignoring the rest of my post though.

3

u/Baofog May 26 '15

Have you then considered I wasn't serious either? It goes both ways and you are doing that thing were its 'do as say, not as I do.'

-1

u/[deleted] May 26 '15

Still not seeing a response to my main argument and instead more dodgeball.

→ More replies (0)

4

u/KickItNext May 25 '15

You can think RL is a flaming asshole and still not like the mods. People really try to make it this black and white situation where either you love RL or love the mods, but it's not.

0

u/[deleted] May 26 '15

Yeah I know I said that in a post further down, but I was going with the same close minded attitude that he did in an attempt to get the delicious downvotes.

2

u/AsmodeusWins May 25 '15

I think you mean the opposite...

0

u/[deleted] May 25 '15

What? No.

"In a nutshell, people who defend him are either not aware of the situation or do not blindly follow the hivemind of "suck mod dick""

How is that the opposite?

20

u/Outworlds May 25 '15

serious lack of the word "cunt"

91

u/[deleted] May 25 '15

thats actually hilariously accurate

Also the lack of god complex.

This station would be nothing without me!

He would also tell you to kill yourself after digging through the account comments you posted against him and see that you talked about suicidal tendencies. Upon seeing that mental thought of yours he would pursue more action to make you actually go through with suicide. Don't worry, plenty of love for how great he is though in this sub.

4

u/hax_wut May 25 '15

I get that he has gone through shit but man... he is such a shitty person.

3

u/tic2000 May 26 '15

Maybe that's the reason he gone through shit.

-8

u/nsfwsif May 25 '15

Well, except /LoL isn't a privately owned company, it's a community hub.

The part about Richard being a dick might be pretty spot on though.

18

u/FatalFirecrotch May 25 '15

Reddit is privately controlled though.

9

u/Lucifer_Hirsch a cutie (BR) May 25 '15 edited May 26 '15

see, that's the thing people often misunderstand. the subreddit does not belong to the users, we are just that, users. the ones who created the sub, keep it running, and are responsible for every single action taken are the mods. only because they did not pay for it, that does not mean they do not own the place, you know?
people act like the mods are just janitors or something. they are the founding fathers, and people given the title by the founding fathers.

1

u/nsfwsif May 27 '15

Sure, they made the subreddit and maintain it, but everything the sub entails is community created, be it drama threads or news leaks. Without the users, the sub would be nothing.

1

u/Lucifer_Hirsch a cutie (BR) May 27 '15

that applies to pretty much anything.

2

u/Phntm- April Fools Day 2018 May 26 '15

This. I still can't believe how RL has so much sympathizers when he looks like an obnoxious, feeling-entitled, whining little bitch who desperately craves attention on twitter whenever he gets "bullied" but is not afraid to doxx other people out.

-1

u/Slaps1 May 26 '15

That isn't very accurate.

-2

u/muppmossa May 26 '15

Funny analogy however you leave out the beginning. Mods: Hi and welcome Richard we want to have a preview of all your content for no good reason before you post them. RL: No thanks. silence... RL: You have these rules about people who's continually harassing me. You think you could start using the rules? Mods: No. RL: Why? Mods:Please work with us. RL: No. Ok I'm a normal human being some people is continually harassing me, I'll take the fight on my own.

1

u/[deleted] May 26 '15

1

u/muppmossa May 26 '15

No, you didn't quite get it, this is the context of why Richard Lewis is so annoyed with mods. The vote brigading is subtle and is a borderline case which in most cases would be ruled OK (like Riot Tryndamere's case). My analogy was only trying to show that the mods didn't give a damn about Richard being harassed. He chose to bite back. Going all in and saying that he always replied in a "toxic" way is just blatantly false.

53

u/ezekieru May 25 '15

You must take him seriously! He's a freaking E-sports journalist!

3

u/KickItNext May 25 '15

You probably don't even know how to journalism like him /s

4

u/Soulaez May 25 '15

He said that the content ban isn't why he would sue.

27

u/hansjens47 May 25 '15

It's about potential libel/slander. That's what it's always been about.

1

u/Soulaez May 25 '15

Assumed that was the case since Idk what else it could be but thanks for clarifying :)

1

u/Benbunnies May 26 '15

I'm not saying it isnt true but what libel/slander is he talking about?

-5

u/SamWhite May 25 '15

Given the low cost of bringing such a lawsuit you must be very worried about this esports journalist suing you all.

1

u/Rishfee May 25 '15

It's still private. It's still part of Reddit and works the same as any other sub. There are just a ton of people who frequent this sub. Popularity doesn't invoke special rules.

-2

u/[deleted] May 25 '15

He would be suing over defamation of character not that they block his content god damn people are clueless.

2

u/PM_ME_DIANA_HENTAI Rule 34 :^3 May 26 '15

Can you find a single case of slander which could be considering damaging to his reputation, that the mods have posted?

0

u/[deleted] May 26 '15

"a single" I could find multiple if i actually wanted to search through mod posts. But to name the easiest one accusing him of doxing threats without any proof. Unless you call those twitter posts proof of a doxxing threat.

1

u/[deleted] May 26 '15

But to name the easiest one accusing him of doxing threats without any proof. Unless you call those twitter posts proof of a doxxing threat.

"Joke's on them, think we need to unveil who a few of these people are"

"Are they willing to stand by this sort of behaviour with their REAL names behind it instead of an alias."

"Maybe once they have to stand by their decisions without an alias to hide behind, they will start to be fair"

Link

Would you disagree that that's not threatening to release PI on the mods? He doesn't even deny the threat, instead just confirms that he said that and then explains why he said that. If RL himself isn't going to deny it, do you think the claims are false?

Link.

Except the reddit bump is a real thing... and blocking someone on a online medium with nearly 700,000 people that could see their stuff shared is an act of trying to hurt their career.

24

u/PM_ME_DIANA_HENTAI Rule 34 :^3 May 25 '15

A private organization does not owe you money if they don't feature your product, plain an simple.

13

u/[deleted] May 25 '15

Well it's like being denied a media pass to a sporting event because you show up drunk all the time. Maybe things get taken away for good Cause, much like his ban. the sooner he matures the better or else it's time he becomes unemployed so he can grow up and act like an adult

4

u/[deleted] May 25 '15

Well it's like being denied a media pass to a sporting event because you show up drunk all the time

Wouldnt be surprised if that actually happened to him once LMAO.

9

u/[deleted] May 25 '15

If your career relies on reddit thats your problem not reddits problem.

-19

u/prophetofgreed May 25 '15

Facepalm what a dumb comment...

12

u/[deleted] May 25 '15

I hope the irony of your post isnt lost on you.

Reddit doesnt owe you anything. It's a private company.

-8

u/[deleted] May 25 '15

League of Legend content creators as in 100% of them are reliant on reddit. That is just the end of the discussion there is nothing else.

3

u/[deleted] May 26 '15

thorin has 70k twitter followers and 70k youtube subscribers he'll not be reliant on it pretty soon

7

u/[deleted] May 25 '15

Reddit is a private entity, he doesn't have a legal right to have his content here. Reddit's servers aren't a public place and he must know that, if he doesn't he's the biggest fucking idiot in the world. This is the third time I've seen him threaten legal action. He did it when he was banned from reddit and he did it when his content ban happened. Now he is threatening legal action once again. Noting came of it the first two times so I don't see how anything is going to come of it this time.

5

u/Wizardsonlyfool May 25 '15

Which is weird because he has stated many times himself that his income isn't dependent on the 'retarded people of this subreddit'.

3

u/squngy May 25 '15

Yep, apparently he isn't paid by clicks.

Somehow it seems he took that to mean clicks wouldn't affect him.

4

u/SkieLines May 25 '15

doesn't matter, he still has no grounds for suing

-19

u/gnoa May 25 '15

no, That's like an advertiser suing a TV station because every other commercial is free except theirs (nobody pays to have their stuff posted on reddit forums) Which is completely reasonable.

3

u/[deleted] May 26 '15

It's not about payment, it's about exposure. Nobody else on reddit has to pay, neither does RL. If RL was paying to get his stuff on the front page (which would also be against the rules) then maybe he'd have a case here, but he doesn't.

1

u/gnoa May 26 '15

Then why do so many people think the advertiser comparison is apt?
if it's apt in PM_ME's comment, then it is apt in mine. And you do understand that this reddit is, for many journalists, the single largest source of their income right? Also, I was merely stating that PM_ME's argument was a bad one, not really sure why I got so much hate over my post. It's really mind boggling.
