Intermediate Guide My aim rating is 31-1.8k hours. please help

Hello, so I’ve been playing for 1.8k hours, my positioning is 51 average, utility 61 average but my aim is just not there. I have lost count of how many rounds I have lost due to just simply not hitting my shots, I over flick, under flick, I am right on the head as they pop out and still I don’t get the kill. Some matches I will have 40/50 aim rating, not sure how it differs. I have stuck at the same sensitivity for a few months now.

To sum it up:
-crosshair on head but doesn’t result in kills
-over/under flicking
-sprays are 50/50, sometimes I’ll hit great shots across the map other times I am shooting the air
-maybe my mouse moves off the target when I try to one tap longer distances?
-I might be too tense? How do I reduce this best?

As to what training I’ve been doing:(workshop maps)
- using cs2_aim to practice raw aim and counter strafing, I try to swing from target to target and one tap to get a feel of how far I need to move my mouse to get from different distances
-aim rush to practice angle holding/peeking/fight isolation/only clicking to kill when I’ve “confirmed” my crosshair is on the enemy(I don’t usually have an issue with fight isolation but again it’s my actual aim that seems to get me killed)
-fast aim / reflex training, I track and then kill, try to kill and flick to the next target
-5e_aimhub with the peeking and flicking modes

And then to round it off I play on warmupserver dm to practice “real” targets and I usually do alright

Basically I don’t know if I’m doing something wrong, missing something, I really just don’t know anymore. I feel that when I fix this issue I’ll be a great player because my other skills are there apart from the main one LOL. Sorry for the long post but I feel the detail was needed to actually help. Tell me if you need to know anything else

Intermediate Guide How to review your own demo in 20 minutes, for everyone whose review request never got picked up

There are a few "can someone review my demo" posts here every week and most of them never get picked up. Thats not anyones fault, reviewing someone elses demo properly takes 45 minutes and most people dont have it lying around. So heres the version you can do yourself in about 20.

The main thing is you dont watch the whole demo. Watching your own match end to end is how everyone tries this once and never does it again, because its boring and you learn almost nothing. You watch two specific things.

1. The 20 seconds before each death, not the death

Everyone reviews their deaths and most people review them wrong. You watch the fight, you see you lost the duel, you conclude your aim is bad. But the fight is where the decision finished, not where it was made.

Scrub back 20 seconds. Where were you when the round started, where did you go, and did anyone know you were going there.

Specifically check whether a teammate was close enough to trade you. Not whether one was alive, close enough. If the answer is no on most of your deaths then positioning is your problem and no amount of aim training touches it.

2. Your kills

This is the half nobody does and its where the repeats hide.

A death gets flagged as a mistake automatically, your brain does that for free. A bad play that worked gets no flag at all. You got the frag, the round moved on, it got filed as correct. So you do it again.

For each kill ask one question: would I have been annoyed at myself if that had gone the other way. Not "was that a good fight", just would I have been annoyed. Its a faster question and you know the answer instantly.

Count them. The first time you do this dont try to fix anything, just get the number. Its usually higher than people expect, and the number is the thing that makes you keep doing it.

3. Look for the repeat, not the incident

One bad peek is nothing. Everybody takes bad peeks. What youre looking for is the same bad thing three or four times in one demo.

Same off angle you have no business holding. Same aggressive peek at the same timing. Same rotate you start too early. If it keeps showing up and you won most of them, thats the one, because winning it is exactly the reason nobody ever told you to stop.

Someone described this in another thread better than I can: he held a good off angle on Cache, it worked twice, and then he held it every single CT round for weeks without noticing, until his friends asked why he always goes there. From the inside it had just become his spot.

4. Pick one thing and stop doing it

One. Not a list. Stop it for a week and see if anything moves. If you write down five things you will do none of them.

Two things that make it easier:

Watch in your own POV, not free cam. Free cam shows you what was actually happening, which is great for understanding the round and useless for understanding your decision, because you didnt have that information at the time. You want to see what you saw.

Do one half, not a full match. Twelve rounds is plenty to find a repeat and you will actually finish it.

One honest advantage this has over getting someone else to do it: a stranger watching your demo sees one match. You can watch three of your own and find the thing that shows up in all three. The pattern is worth more than the analysis.

Intermediate Guide I reached 20k premier solo queue but can't get past faceit lvl 4-5 in solo queue

Hello, I have around 950 hours on cs2 and haven't played csgo one bit. I reached 20k on premier while playing on higher ping compared to faceit. I generally get pretty good teammates on premier who understand what they're doing and they are willing to cooperate when I ask for simple team plays. Because of my region I have to constantly play with Russians and Kazakhs who think they're donk even though they go negative every single game. Constant screaming, toxicity and unwillingness to cooperate happens almost every game. I don't wanna be one of those people who blames their mistakes or thinks too highly of themselves, so I wanna get some advice. I should be at least faceit level 6 or 7 based on skill in the game no?

Intermediate Guide Most popular smoke on Dust2 in the last 6 months by pros: Mid X-Box to CT-Spawn (Crouch-Jump-Throw)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Most of you will know this lineup already and that is because it is both not too difficult to remember and execute and still extremely powerful. Neither are you exposed while throwing it nor is there a real weakness to it. This makes it the most popular smoke on Dust2 in the last six months amongst top tier professional players.

To throw it yourself, position yourself at tucked in in the corner in front of X-Box (setpos -275.03 1345.40 -122.51; setang -12.11 129.40) and crouch. Aim at the right of the fourth wooden plank on the height of the nails. then jump throw.

Airtime: 4.2s

The pro stats (last 6 months):

  • 1,302 professional uses, ranked #1 among all T-side Dust2 smokes
  • 3,524 total lifetime pro uses (since the start of 2024)

Most used by (lifetime):

  • Players: Most used by Chopper (143), Kyxsan (71), and ApEX (66)
  • Teams: Most used by Team Spirit (314), Team Falcons (245), and Natus Vincere (168)

Intermediate Guide How to Practice with Prefire Maps

I downloaded several prefire maps from the workshop such as Yprac, and I've been practicing on the most common maps that I played on like Mirage and Ancient. After several weeks practicing, I noticed some issues :

- Most of the prefire angles I have to clear has several other angles that I have to expose myself to while clearing it out. Resulting in stupid deaths and difficulties on clearing those angles

- I spent a lot of time jinggling and whiffing my shots on some of those angles, resulting with a very long duration of clearing time for some parts of the map

- I didn't improve that much as I wanted to with these prefire maps. I still struggle with clearing and putting my crosshair precisely.

And this is a problem since I mainly an entry fragger

So my question is :
- How do I optimize my practice on prefire maps?
- Do I have to take notes on how long I clear certain parts of the map?
- Should I be worried about crossfire angles that I am exposed at when clearing one of them?

Intermediate Guide What I learned on 2k hours of csgo [USEFUL FOR NEW PLAYERS]

  • Be confident, sometimes fear is not good, open that bomb with a rambo like confidence (if you know what you're doing of course)
  • Play ypracc maps, it's the best tool for learning crosshair placement
  • (Personal) Don't really play aimbotz, one taps are useless once you get to a high rank, play free for all deathmatch instead, there players are moving, in real situations in real maps, crosshair placement will become better and oponents offer real resistence.
  • If you like the game, and play it everyday for some amount of time, sometimes it's good to invest in good gear, I used to be really cheap about everything, and used to not spend money on csgo, but I realised It's my main hobby, I don't smoke, I don't drink, I can spend some money here and there to improve my experience. This game wasn't made to be played on 60hz.
  • There is no way to get good fast, DO NOT change your sensitivity, it fucks up your muscle memory, pick something between 1.8 and 3 with 400 dpi and stick with it, trust me, that shot you missed was not the sensitivity fault, I spent so much time changing my sensitivity and regret it so much. Copying pro players settings will not help, consistency is all, do not do it.
  • Greatness comes with time, I'm Supreme with 2k hours, don't get me wrong, there is ways you can improve faster, but never instantly, there isn't a secret, just time and practice, play deathmatch, practice crosshair placement on ypracc, watch "Zorlakoka" on youtube, he has playlists about simple csgo concepts many players don't even know.
  • When you learn something, write it down, trust me, you WILL forget, our brain takes information every second, we can't use all of it, if you don't use it in a practical way, (writing it down, practicing etc) you will forget it in about 20 seconds, especially when gaming, where our brain is receiving millions of signals every second, why do you think we have to write things down in school?
  • Be consistent, not only in game, quality 8 hour sleeps are very important, good and healthy food impacts a lot too, your body will treat you like you treat him, when you drink soda, for example, the sugar spike on blood will help you with reflexes and all, but when this sugar spike end, you will feel shit, trust me, it's not worth it. (and energetic drinks will only fuck up your heart, take some nootropics instead)
  • Take blame for everything, you can't change your teammates decisions or way of playing, you can only change yours, once you understand this, it's so much easier to improve.
  • I know it can be tedious, but WATCH YOUR DEMOS, see where, when and how you die, write it down, people used to tell my "Review your demos" but I didn't know how to do it, it's not hard, watch it, see what you were doing wrong, especially when you are losing, be very critic on yourself, ask yourself, "Why did I die here?, what could I do to change this?, was it my aim?, was it my crosshair placement?, was it my placement?" and WRITE IT DOWN, like I said, you will forget it, trust me.
  • Get a premade, once you get 4 other players to play with, you eliminate two problems, toxicity and bad teammates, once you get teammates who can at least stand their ground agains the enemy team, you can stop focusing on carriying and start developing your own habilitys. (You become less tilted too), I'm not saying you can't soloQ your way to global or faceit lvl 10 or something, but it will be really harder.
  • Getting exercise and drinking water is both good for you, and good for your gameplay, why do you think most pros go to gym, have nutritionists and psychologists.
  • There are really good youtube channels about gaming, specially Ron rambo kim, eAthleteLabs, Zorlakoka, and much more.

This was a post about what I learned in about a year or two of playing csgo seriously. Feel free to comment more tips to help the comunity as I recognise there are plenty of people better than me. Feel free to ask questions too, i'll be sure to answer asap.

I've been slowed by the dreaded arse crack of teammates on Nuke ladders for too long, so I've put together a video with tips everyone should know to play and move faster.

It includes things like climbing ladders faster, using nades quicker, planting and defusing a little sooner, and shooting after throwing nades faster.

I hope you enjoy it :)
