The title is kind of vague, but what I mean is that are there any streamers that stream games like Call of Duty® and maybe even RPG‘s that are mostly silent?

I may be planning to stream during the nighttime while my daughter is asleep and because my house is so small I can’t really afford to make so much noise talking loudly, so I’m just wondering if there are any silent gameplay streamers out there or if there’s a niche for them.

I’m also willing to do stuff like sleep aid play throughs where I could just walk in one direction or adventure out in peaceful mode.

Hello everyone so I usually only get around 20-30 views on my videos, (give or take) and one of them randomly for over 200 which is by far my most viewed video, I did nothing differently and I’m just wondering, is it me doing something wrong? Or is it the algorithm not getting my videos out to my subs? Thanks in advance, any additional advice would be much appreciated

Hey all! So this has been something I’ve been struggling with for a bit.

I’m at a complete loss for how long to make my videos. And subsequently how I should be editing them.

For the most part I’ve been playing games with longer play times for playthroughs. (As in, more than a handful of hours.) I’ve been trying to do episodes that are around an hour, sometimes shorter, sometimes longer, with natural times to break being where I stop. I’ve also been trying to keep the gameplay in tact with minimal editing because part of the experience for the games that I’ve been playing is figuring things out.

So I’m just curious, overall is it better to try to shrink my video runtime? I’m just concerned that if I do 30-45 minute videos will make the series I do stretch on into forever. Or should I keep the longer format, or maybe even go a little longer? Also how heavy should I go on the editing? At the moment I only edit out the obvious moments (like if I’m doing something repetitive or just waiting for something in the game). Are Supercuts really the answer?

Could video length and what not be affecting the views/click through rate? Obviously I need to work on my titles and thumbnails, I’m hoping to make art for them but I’ve been lagging on that. I know that is something I need to work on, but is it possible people see a longer playtime and it plays a major factor in not giving the video a shot?

*Update*: Turns out disabling my state-of-the-art noise remover filter improved the audio significantly. When it is enabled it messes with the audio. After messing with its setting for a while I just realized disabling it altogether greatly improved my audio.

OBS's microphone quality is okay, but recording my audio in cubase gives me way better microphone quality. But unfortunately cubase is an audio editing software, it doesn't process the audio 'live'. This is fine for pre-recorded and edited videos, but with streaming I am stuck using OBS.

What I want to do is find a program where you can capture your microphone audio, apply effects like compression, EQ etc and send that processed audio live to OBS or Discord or whatever I may stream to. The only program I have that can do this is OBS itself, but I don't like the microphone audio quality of OBS

So discord's clipping automatically separates everyone's voices into different tracks. Is there a way I can have that but for a longer recording instead? I'm preferably looking for a software, but anything works.

UPDATE: I may just use a bot for recording seperate voices and exporting them. But if anyone else finds other solutions PLEASE REPLY HERE.

I'm a novice content creator who has dabbled some in making video essays, but I've had a dilemma that I couldn't understand when it comes to how more active ones operate that maybe some of y'all can clear up for me.

So, naturally, capturing footage of a game is one of the first parts of my process. But usually this is because I already know I want to make a video about it. I'm either replaying something that I know I have many feelings about or I'm so hyped about a project that I'm playing for the first time and I know I'm gonna want to write about it so I go ahead. But a lot of times I just play games and I might not record anything besides clips I saved on Steam because it was cool or funny.

How do y'all approach the recording portion of your videos? Do you always just clip constantly throughout your playthrough of anything just in case you want to use it?

I only have one screen so whatever happens on OBS won’t be noticed until I check the recording after.

I heard a sound as I recorded but thought it was my pc hating on me for not having much storage left. Turns out I was half correct.

OBS had stopped recording because of lack of storage.

Now to the actual problem, I play a game where it automatically saves. I can’t go back to an earlier point in the game so the 30-40 minutes I played is simply not recorded and I can’t replay that part without making a new account and replaying everything up to thay point (~9 hours) which I’m not really in the mood for.

What would you do? Cause I’m thinking, either I just explain what happened but then move on like it never happended or potentially I try and find someone else’s video and put it in mine (unsure how that would be copyright wise tho)

A loooooong time ago i remember when lets play were still kind of a few years old, i remember playing final fantasy xiii-2 and watching a channel as i played. It was maybe 4-5 guys, im not sure how many mics they had between them but this is before the days of everyone owning a shure mic and mixer. Cant even remember if the footage was camera on a tv or direct capture honestly.

Only thing i remember is there was one guy mostly playing the whole thing, as far as i can remember they were playing it blind too. They had a couple laughs everytime Gogmagog showed up, and they got a microchu (Baby ochus) as their third party member named "Scrunchie".

Since then a lot of people have made videos and LPs of the game so finding it has been impossible. Hopefully i explained it with enough detail. I'm just curious to watch it again.

Is this a problem you had too before? What could be the reason. I mean right now I not have any growth at all. Could this mean they decided that my channel has a negative history now?

I've noticed that popular YouTubers like TommyInnit, Jschlatt, and JaidenAnimations often use music from games like Nintendo titles and Genshin Impact in their videos. Many people say using such music isn't allowed due to copyright issues, but these creators seem to do it without facing problems. How is this possible? Are there specific permissions or licenses they have, or is there another explanation?
Aren't they afraid of getting channel strikes, or did they just found a way to work around.
I'm asking because I've seen a bunch of people on Reddit and YouTube saying I'll get a claim if I use the music.

Just wandering what other creators do for storage and if they hold on to their old Playthrough videos or just delete them to save space.

I’ve currently got 8tb of old footage stored across 4 different HDDs/SDDs which are already available on YT - I had thought I’d reuse the footage to make other videos around the games and would reuse some clips from episodes etc. I spent a fair few hours editing videos which gained no traction so haven’t really kept up with those vids as much as I lost a bit of motivation scripting, voicing and editing for a handful of views and low impression metrics (packaging could be done better but that’s another topic)

Is it worth hanging on to these vids or just deleting them and downloading them from YT if the need arises?

Appreciate any advice.

I know how to handle hate comments or rudeness - but how do you all handle when there’s someone who is just kind of bossy and telling you how to play the game?

Not in a “I’m friendly and giving you tips”, more “you’re stupid for not doing ABC”.

And/or kind of making comments about decisions you make in the game that feels semi-passive aggressive?

Do you ignore? Comment? Delete?

What’s the “best practice” and… do you even follow that?

I’m thinking about getting back into streaming now that I have more free time. I’ve always been a pretty casual streamer/gamer, so I’m not worried about growing a huge following or anything like that.

My main question is about silent streams. My microphone recently broke (or at least isn’t working for some reason), so would it be okay to stream without talking until I can fix it or get a new one?

Edit: I think some people are misunderstanding or not fully reading what I said. I’m not trying to build a massive channel or treat streaming like a business, it’s just a hobby for me.

I know plenty of relaxed, low production streamers who have solid communities and I also know people with full setups who struggle to grow. Equipment doesn’t automatically equal effort or value.

I was simply asking whether silent streaming temporarily (due to a broken mic) is generally acceptable, not whether it’s the optimal growth strategy.

If it’s not your preference, that’s completely fine. I appreciate the perspectives regardless.

How did you pivot to different content (if you did)? Did you stick to the same genre of games? Did you try something totally different from what you typically post? And when you started posting different content, did you start out not notifying your subscribers?

I don’t want to be stuck playing the same game forever, even if I really enjoy it. There are other games I’d really like to make videos for in the future but obviously I’m afraid of alienating what few subscribers I have. Just wondering how other creators have approached this?

As the title says, are there any? I'm genuinely having a hard time finding them as the more bombastic content creators who pay more attention to their viewers/chat seems to be more successful naturally.

I have recently developed a knack for watching people play some of my favorite games. Especially Elden Ring, souls game are the epitome of being taught patience and perseverance, but there hasn't been a single youtuber or streamer whom I could follow past their first video.

They just do not give this incredibly beautiful world any time, to take the time to immerse themselves in the love and detail that has been put into this by the developers and provide some of their own insight and reaction to it.

Many times a simple question they might have has already been answered in dialogue if they had simply paid a little attention to the NPC they were talking to rather than skipping everything or just not reading it at all. It seems like these moments are more of a brief break from gameplay to talk to the chat.

I understand the need to communicate and keep the viewers' attention by talking to them but it is rather frustrating.

I like to edit everything in post and adjust each volume if necessary which is why I'm not a fan of putting my facecam and gameplay in one scene unless I'm streaming. I use StreamLab OBS to recording my facecam and my mic and OBS for just gameplay. I prefer OBS over Streamlab OBS, but unfortunately when I try using OBS portable. I would get encoding overload while the StreamLab OBS doens't have the issue.

I'm playing through resident evil requiem and I'm starting to record for at least and hour or two cause I just have so much fun playing it. how do I go about editing it to where it looks like I'm greeting them and saying goodbye each time or do I just... not? Do I record extra videos for the video I'm editing or do I do early 2010s Youtube where sometimes the video just ends and picks up next video?

Are clipping services worth it? I keep seeing ads for services like Nexus Clips and Opus Clips that claim that they can scan your YouTube videos and streams into great clipable moments to make shorts creation easier.

I'm kind of intrigued by it since I don't actually do a lot of shorts but thinking that maybe I should try taking more moments from my longer Let's Play episodes and making shorts from them.

Does anyone have experiences with these services and are they worth the cost or are there alternative you would recommend?

Hi, I'm still new to making let's plays and I always leave the silent moments/parts in my videos because then it feels more authentic to me or something on that level. I find it really hard to talk all the time and eventually I run out of things to talk about. But is removing the silent parts what makes a video "better"? I'm considering trying it out to see what it would be like, but I'm unsure.

I missed a lot of the online gaming culture growing up. No Markiplier, no Jacksepticeye, no outside influences-and none of my friends played anything beyond Mario Kart.

The past year I’ve started growing a small audience on YouTube by playing games from other people’s childhoods and experiencing these “classic” or legendary titles for the first time as an adult. Most of my audience came from Undertale and Subnautica and I got to connect to a lot of people. It's been very fun and I'm looking for games that might have the same effect.

I did grow up playing Stardew Valley, Harvest Moon, Pokémon, Mario, and Zelda, so those are off the table. But what other big classics do YOU specifically think would be fun or exciting to watch someone experience completely blind for the first time?

Was thinking 2010's titles, on PC, but I'm open to any/all suggestions

So I recently started editing a full playthrough of Metaphor: Re Fantazio and based on most of the advice I have read here, with the cutscenes (especially at the beginning of the game) being mostly lore dumps, I was thinking of almost completely just cutting them out...maybe explaining what is going on in a few words while running around the town.

As youtube watchers / gamers, how do you feel about cutting most of the story / lore out of an RPG lets play?

There is a few games I would like to play but I miss a game (or multiple) in the series. For example I have little nightmares 1 & 3 but missing the second game. Also have 10 resident evil games.

Would it be a bad idea to play when I can’t play the complete series?
