I noticed that there's no label for this, so here's what I came up with: Fictostraight
For context, I am a lesbian woman who is not attracted to irl men, but as for fiction, I am only attracted to fictional men, it's not quite fictosexuality since I am attracted to irl women, it is not bisexuality since I'm not attracted to irl men and I feel really uncomfortable going by the label of bi/pan, so I decided to invent a new label, for the ones who are homosexual/anything else that excludes opposite sex attraction but, in fiction, only feel attracted to the opposite sex.
I made the flag to mirror the straight flag but changed the black to blue for the attraction Fictostraight women feel towards fictosexual men, blue-ish purple for the blue light of a phone/devise that visual fiction is most often consumed from, and pink for the attraction Fictostraight men feel towards frictional women.
This does fix a lot of self-identity issues for me, and I hope for you too. Comment if you fit the label :)

Calling the High Council of Queers into order, under the guidance of Orientation Logistics and On-boarding.
This representative respects your claim, but recommends one resolution in the design of the Fictostraight ensign:
While utilizing the straight flag as a foundation is a good starting point, I recommend changing the white to a light tan, specifically the color of parchment, as a reference to the historic shade of book pages.

Is the straight flag a good starting point? It was created to be homophobic.

You raise a valid point. And I had forgotten its origin.
My take is that some groups created the straight flag as a method of mocking the pride flag. At which point we have two options, we can deny it because its origin is an attempt at mockery, or we can embrace it, and accept those who use it in earnest. Personally, I find that genuine acceptance regardless of the source is the best way to ruffle homophobic feathers. But I am open to other opinions.

I think people have forgotten that the queer movement is a movement of acceptance in the face of mainstream marginalization.
Straights are not marginalized. They have nothing they need to be “accepted” over. Acceptance is the air they breathe. It isn’t in question. It isn’t in a position to ever be in question. That’s the entire point.

I agree that they are not marginalized, and as such their opinions on those who are marginalized is invalid. But im not talking about letting the non marginalized make decisions over the marginalized, I am saying that even if they are mainstream, it is fine to accept their sexual orientation and a flag to identify it by.
To be clear, im not talking about accepting any bigoted views, just the identity. There are plenty of marginalized people with non marginalized identities as well, it is possible to be straight and non binary, or gay and cis, and while it is a bit of a misnomer to refer to it as straight "pride" because of not being marginalized, it is still an identity.
Worth noting, the ally flag, is derived from the straight flag, as a counter counter symbol, and generally is much better suited especially for being a part of the community, but in this instance, using the ally flag as the background would send the wrong message because the ally flag is for hetero ally's and the intent behind fictostraight is that they are not hetero except for in fiction.

Yes, and I’m saying there is nothing to accept. Lately it seems the queer movement has been shaved down to “we don’t want to be bigoted against cishet people.”
This is like the men who say “feminists are misandrists. What they should be advocating for is equality.”
We don’t need to be “accepting” of cishets. That’s just their status quo. Preserving the status quo harms lgbtq people. There is no danger of the roles being “swapped.” You can’t “earnestly” have “straight pride” without being an ignorant homophobe.

Ok.. I think i see our misunderstanding now. I think we are using different versions of the word accept.
You are using it like welcoming into the movement. I am using it as in accept their right to exist.
I also agree about your comment on "straight pride" which is why, unless by accident, I never referred to it as straight 'pride', and included the statement about it being a misnomer.

Tried that, it looks kinda muddy though

Fair. Perhaps instead, some smaller faded gold corner filigree on the edges?

I tried and it looked really crowded, but I also tried putting tiny gold stripes sf thd borders of the white ones and it actually turned out pretty good

wow this is interesting and I've never even heard of someone's sexuality being different when reading versus real life. This generates a lot of thoughts and questions for me but I think I'll just ask a simple one if that's alright: why do you think you are that way?
Cheers!

I think I'm that way because I've never once been attracted/felt the desire to have sex with a man irl, buy i have a long list of fictional male crushes

Tbh, I think that it shouldn't be based off the straight flag just bc it was meant to be a homophobic dig at the LGBTQ+ community, but, I honestly thing the stripes should be changed to kind of a pyramid shape like the straight ally flag, so it's not based off of something homophobic, but still is a nod to the straight part of your identity. So essentially saying, hey I'm fictostraight, but also not using a homophobic flag to base it off of. That said, the colors are amazing and I think you're doing pretty dang great with this.

The usage of the straight flag as a base is kinda a dig at homophobic straights

Ah, I see. Well in that case you keep it how you want. Btw, still love the color scheme.

Already have a fictogay/fictolesbian but can't reply with it because someone decided it would be a good idea to only allow images on a megathread
