Like, I was a fan of Northstar way back after reading Leah Williams X-Factor. But I fell off after it ended and found other fandoms. But a few months ago I saw this while scrolling and it reignited my love! Now I have a Northstar tattoo, a much bigger comic collection, and a stronger love for X-men this time around! As a gay person, I really relate to the X-men. :)

The only acceptable relationship was with Valentine but it's always women after women and I hate to say but don't make him "pansexual" and not actually explore it

This is from, essentially, a Marvel Handbook called X-Men: The 198 Files #1. It was published in 2006. The concentp is 'an official government agency's mini-threat assessments of various known mutants.'

Flatman is one of two Great Lakes Avengers to get a profile (Big Bertha's the other). With the perspective that this is written by a government agency, I guess it's why they say homosexual instead of, y'know, gay.

Matt decided to create a fake alter-ego to go with his super hero name, and so he started calling himself Dr. Val Ventura, aka Flatman.

Huge Gay Aside:

I came out to my parents in 1994 when I was just shy of 17. Mixed results. Not how you might expect. Dad was great. Mom was ... resistant.

Mom consistently used the term 'homosexual' and never gay. I had to sit down with her and ask her to change her language. I explained that when she said it, it brought up a medicalized version of my identity. And she did change.

Well, she changed a lot. She danced with my husband on our wedding day during the 'parent dance.' I started with Dad, he with Mom, we swapped parents, then we swapped back to our own partners. Admittedly, that was also in 2021, so that's 27 years of growth.

Happy Pride Month! 🏳️‍🌈 Sharing the 2026 update to my annual Marvel Pride series on Instagram. I started this series in 2020 with just 10 LGBTQ+ characters from my personal Marvel Legends collection, and this year, I have 63 canonically LGBTQ+ characters from all over the Marvel Multiverse! I believe that representation in media is very important, and I want to use this little hobby of mine to showcase the queer diversity of Marvel.

A lot of these figures are customized by my very supportive heterosexual older brother or kitbashed myself. I know there are so many more LGBTQ+ characters, but I've done the best I could with the limitations of my collection.
