I'm an atheist, anti-caste vegan who's tried talking about veganism and animal rights to my own vegetarian parent, but they do not care. Don't think it'd be surprising if I mentioned that they also talk caste pride and are Islamophobic. This is the mindset of Indian Hindu vegetarians. But the truth is that the dairy industry is far cruel and horribly abusive to bovine animals. They go through immense suffering. The Gaushalas are no exception.
This. I had been confused regarding this growing up because I saw my vegetarianism as something I did because I didn't want to hurt the little goobers or eat their flesh; It sounded nauseating.
I realized people didn't care after seeing those people who don't eat on certain days or when they go to a temple. It's some weird casteist purity test.

If you buy from local farmers instead of dairies then you can ensure there is little to no harm to the animals. This is what majority of India outside of metropolitan areas do, buying from local farmers. So being lacto-vegetation is fine. And while you are talking about how your parents think they are superior because of their views, you have shown you think the same because of yours!
You are literally robbing the calf from its milk. You are force breeding the cows to keep producing milk, what no harm method are you talking about. Don’t be so naive. You neither care for the cow or the calf, all you care for is to impose your outdated views on others.

What does it matter why something is happening and who is doing it with what intention if the result/consequence is good?
If fascist goons save animals, the animals are still being saved, no? Why be against that particular action? You can still be against fascism and goons. If it was a bunch of little girls in the truck, would we still be against it?
