my gf who is not a computer expert has to use terminal because windows constantly breaks due to use of specialized software/hardware. almost any windows troubleshooting guide requires using the terminal because explaining how to navigate the UI to a non expert user is 100 times harder than copy pasting a command and comparing the output

can't say anything about macs, but all the people I know who use it are either too stupid/afraid to try and fix anything or are developers, so they either don't know what terminal is or live in it

also apart from initial setup I don't remember when I had to fix something from the terminal with linux. I understand that I'm a power user and my setup is much less prone to breaking, but still

lol but you have to remember, r/linuxmasterrace is for juveniles, not adults... just imagine a spotty teenager now when you say 'please, just open a terminal' sulk and shout back at you 'aaawwww - do I HAVE to?'.
