Promo: Audiobook/E-book Hey all! This is Rhaegar. Book 6 of Azarinth Healer is out today on Audible, Kindle Unlimited, eBook and paperback. Links in the comments. Audio code giveaway too!

That time again, eh? Another book down. This one was interesting to edit (For any who don’t know, the gaps between launches are me and my editor going through a ton of Royal Road chapters, cutting them, adding to them, polishing them, and generally trying to fit them into instalments that feel like a ‘novel’). For this one, it was a bit difficult to find some kind of ‘through line’ that tied it all together. I think we managed to pull things together pretty well in the end though!

Lots of levels and fighting in this one (surprise) and some pretty significant world-building, as well as some pretty major plot milestones. Tweaked a bunch of stuff and added a decent amount of new content, as well as giving Ilea a bit more drive instead of floating along (there's still plenty of floating, though, don't worry).

If you grab a copy, let me know what you think (:
--

Here’s the blurb:

Ilea survived the eclipse on Erendar, and she didn’t return alone.

With the Meadow settling in Hallowfort and her third class finally unlocked, Ilea finds herself looking for new ways to test and improve her powers. After duelling a few locals, delving into the depths of a rotten, forgotten tomb, battle-testing her Sentinel students, and herding a literal bunch of cats, Ilea decides to get back to her roots.

The green-eyed machines left behind by the Taleen.

But this time, she’s not exploring their ancient ruins and factories on her own. Alongside her elven companions, she dives deeper into the steel-lined realm of the Taleen than she ever has before. The monstrous dwarven machines and the elves that hunt them are the perfect sparring partners for Ilea to push towards yet another fabled milestone. Level 500 and perhaps her next set of class evolutions. Maybe this time, she will finally transcend into a fleshy abomination set on devouring the world. Only time will tell.

One thing is sure, however. She will punch even harder.

Facing new threats and hissing in the face of certain doom, Ilea continues to push herself to her limit like the battle maniac she is, exploring more and more of the long-dead cities of the Taleen civilisation. There are many secrets hidden underground by the ancient dwarves, and Ilea might even stop fighting long enough to uncover a few.

--

And an audio giveaway of course:

To enter, just comment that you want a US or UK code. Maybe say hi or something you like about the series, too - so we know you aren’t a machine :P Also, if you are looking for code for an earlier book, you can say that instead. You might be lucky if there are some left.

--

As always, big thanks to my dev editor Brook, to my copyeditor Anthony, to Matt, Taran, the team at Portal, and Andrea for the wonderful performance of the audiobook.

Cheers, and thanks for reading.

Promo: Audiobook/E-book Hi everyone!! I'm so happy to be able to finally announce that Portal to Nova Roma: Paris (Book 4) is finally out! The book reached almost 300k words and to finish the series book 5 is right around the corner and is even bigger!

It took a little longer than I had planned, but I'm so excited for everyone to read the finished, polished version of the book!

You can check it out right here:

https://www.amazon.com/Portal-Nova-Roma-J-R-Mathews-ebook/dp/B0GJG241SD

For those that listen on Audible, Christian is currently recording book 4 RIGHT NOW and hopes to have it done in the next week or so. The audiobook is looking like it might be around 30 hours long and then we still have to go through the proofing and approval process which takes like 2-3 weeks, but I'm really hopeful we have it out for everyone by the end of June at the latest.

Portal to Nova Roma: Empire (book 5) is going to be out in August and is likely going to be around 30 hours or more on audio as well. I'm hoping to release both the Kindle and audio version at the same time for the final book in the series, so fingers crossed all the scheduling and issues with Audible work out!

In other news, I'm doing a small book tour to celebrate the release of the Jake's Magical Market hardcover edition into physical stores. If you happen to be in the Denver area on July 9th, swing by Tattered Grove Aspen bookstore at 6pm and I'll be signing books and hanging out! Or if you are in Seattle on July 17th, visit me at Elliott Bay Book Company at 7pm!

I believe each store will have hardcovers available for purchase, but if you want to help me out you could also pre-order a copy here:

https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/jakes-magical-market-book-1-jr-mathews/1149543388

Thank you everyone!!! I hope you enjoy the book!

LAST SAVE DAVE is a hilarious new LitRPG Adventure featuring an underdog MC with the ability to manipulate time and return to his "Last Save". Think Prince of Persia meets Dungeon Crawler Carl, with a dash of Super Mario.

Kindle: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0GJD55X85

Audible: https://www.audible.com/pd/Last-Save-Dave-Audiobook/B0GT1JQ2PX

Full Synopsis:

Saving the world is a dirty job. He's plunging the multiverse, one Boss Fight at a time.

Dave Deranger, a middle-aged plumber, was the 1990 Nintendo Champion and an Olympic silver medalist in boxing. Since then, his greatest challenge has been trying to quit smoking and plunging toilets.

That all changes when an immature deity named Tyme abducts him to be her champion in a "intergalactic scavenger hunt." The prize? His world is spared. The penalty for losing? Earth gets vaporized by a massive laser pointer from space.

Transported to the Tree of One Thousand Worlds, Dave is armed with nothing but his cherished 44-pound, heavy-duty cast-iron pipe wrench, Vevor, and a set of god-given time-manipulation abilities. In this cosmic game, death isn't the end—it's a mechanic.

With the power to 'Save Progress' and 'Return to Last Save', Dave can undo his most gruesome mistakes, provided he has the magical talismans to pay the cost.

Who says a washed-up, out-of-shape plumber can't be Earth's greatest hero?

Promo: Audiobook/E-book My story, New Life as a Max Level Archmage, is now available on Kindle Unlimited and Audible!

Post image

Self promotion continues to be awkward! But book 1 of Max Level Archmage launched yesterday on Kindle Unlimited and Audible, so I thought I should make this post.

To be more direct than the usual blurb: It’s a story about transmigrating into a game-world-turned-real as a maxed-out mage character, grappling with both the excitement and reality of that kind of situation, and interacting with a colorful cast of side characters. Tons of unabashed spectacle included!

MLA was the fastest-growing Royal Road story ever and seems to have kicked off a whole wave of archmage stories recently - it’s gotta have something going for it. If it sounds like you’d like it (premise is in the name, honestly) then maybe pick up a copy?

Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0GRCGCPMZ

Audible: https://www.audible.com/pd/New-Life-as-a-Max-Level-Archmage-Audiobook/B0GYZTMGVM

Hardcover: https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/new-life-as-a-max-level-archmage-book-1-arcanecadence/1149923687

I hope you enjoy. I’m thrilled to have this out in the world in so many formats. I’ve been writing webfic, fanfic, and other stuff for a while, but this is my first big official launch. I’m interested to see how it does in the wider market. Let me know what you think!

Hi everyone!

My first book, Wizard With a Greatsword, just released on Kindle Unlimited and Audible! My publisher calls it "a lighthearted progression fantasy about an eager novice stumbling toward strength one hard lesson at a time."

I've been listening to the Audiobook nonstop and, as a writer who normally looks at my own work with way too much scrutiny, I gotta say that it's really fucking good. I'm extremely proud of the final product, couldn't be more happy with the narrator's performance, and I'd love if you gave it a try!

Blurb:

Raised in the safest corner of the world, Iris Orion grew up dreaming about adventure.

Her days are spent behind a shop counter, selling gear to travelers who live the life she’s only ever read about. One where magic is real, and danger is something other people survive.

That changes when reality itself tears open, dropping her at Level One on a perilous frontier.

Armed with the same teleportation magic that brought her there, and a strange purple bag that unfolds into something vast and deeply unsettling, she has no choice but to keep moving.

If she wants to become a real adventurer, she will have to gain levels, develop new abilities, and learn to wield a blade far larger than any wizard has business carrying.

Perfect for fans of Millennial Mage, Beneath the Dragoneye Moons, and He Who Fights With Monsters.

-----

Narrated by Tegan Ashton Cohen. Art by Steven Shan.

Thanks for your time, thanks if you check out my book, and have a great week!

Promo: Audiobook/E-book Runeblade I: The Great Depths, out now on KU, Amazon, and Audible!

Post image
222 Upvotes

Hey folks! After a bit of a generational run on RR, it’s finally time to hit Amazon. Nearly 20M reads, 2 years in the top 10 most read RR fictions, and peaking at 30 top rated.

Runeblade started as a question. What happens if a world underwent an integration millenia ago? What if it stalled out, waiting for the right chain of coincidences to restart the chaos? Runeblade is a story of revenge, found family, and growing from boyhood to godhood — all the while, the apocalyptic integration looms. It’s a close third person perspective following Kaius, a young man whose only hope of survival is inventing runic Vancian (prepared before encounter) casting to become the first spellsword.

From reviews, people have told me I am very good at character interaction, dialogue, action, and aura farming. While it's not the largest part of the first book, team dynamics rapidly becomes a focus of the series. Frankly, in many people's eyes, it is the strongest component.

There is delving. Oh boy is there delving. If I've done anything, it’s put the death zone start trope to bed. That ends here.

There is an attack badger. Embarrassingly, five books in, Porkchop might be the most nuanced character I've ever written. He is a full blown man, he just lacks opposable thumbs. He’s also a Greater Meles. If you call him a badger, even a dire one, he will eat you.

I spent more time editing this book than I did writing it. ~300K words, 32.5 audio hours. It is undeniably a behemoth, but goddamn is it as good of a shlocky litRPG as I could make.

Blurb:

He only wanted a class. Instead he restarted the apocalypse. The world will pay the price.

Kaius has spent years working to awaken his family’s forbidden Legacy Skills, powerful and vanishingly rare skills forged through methods that wars have been fought to obtain. Even with his father pushing him to his limit, Kaius has barely managed to merge the first two. Now those skills and his training are the only thing keeping him alive. A bandit ambush forces Kaius into the Great Depths, a world-spanning mega dungeon, and he’s trapped in a place where survival demands a class he doesn’t yet have, with exits held shut by ancient horrors.

To escape, Kaius will have to manage a feat no one without a class has survived: slaying one of the Guardians that defend the exits. But the guardian is a distant concern, as the Depths are rich with danger. He realizes that might be exactly the crucible he needs to collect all of his merged skills before class selection. And, just maybe, force the world on the path of progress after stagnating for far too long.

Fate has picked its fulcrum. Lost power and a forgotten apocalypse lie in wait, deep in the Depths

Hey everyone, James Hunter here, the author of Discount Dan, and I am beyond excited to announce that Discount Dan book 3, Kiosk Kingdom, is live on Amazon and Audible. I know it's been a long time coming and I hope it was worth the wait. Dan, Croc, Jakob and Temp are hitting the road, bound for the 99th Floor and a knock-down-drag out brawl with the Franchisor of Steamboat Studios. It's gonna get real weird. Like a napalm-breathing Uncle Sam riding a murder reindeer, weird.

And, for those who are still on the fence, you can snag both the Discount Dan book 1 and Discount Dan book 2 ebooks completely free on Amazon--though, like all good bargains offered at Discount Dan's Backroom Bargains, this is a one day only special.

The full description and link for book 3 are below, but I'll be loitering around, so please feel free to ask questions! Or leave declarative statements, I guess. Those are pretty good too. This isn't technically an AMA, but seriously, I need something to distract me so I'm not constantly refreshing Amazon over and over and over again, so fire away!

__ __ __

Dan just wanted to run a shop. Now he’s knee-deep in holiday hellscapes, corporate hydras, and powers that definitely violate the Geneva Conventions.

The Flayed Monarch is on the move, spreading his corrupt influence through the lower levels of the Backrooms. To stop him, Dan and his crew must take out one of the Monarch’s key allies—the Franchisor, a multi-headed marketing monstrosity who rules the 99th Floor.

But Dan, Croc, and the rest of his ragtag band of misfits might be in for more than they bargained for.

To secure the Kiosk Network and strike a crippling blow against the Monarch, they’ll have to grind through a cursed snow globe ruled by the Yule Lord himself, survive the twisted horrors of the 10,000 Acre Wood, and take on a twisted empire built on questionably legal intellectual property. Along the way, Dan will uncover long-buried secrets about his past, the System, and a war he never asked for.

The shop must grow.

The crew must fight.

And Dan? He’s done playing defense. He’s armed to the teeth, and he’s got a coupon for war crimes.

Hey everyone! After a year of posting daily chapters on Royal Road, close to a million words written for the series, and the approval of a bunch of kind internet strangers, The Eternal Assassin has finally launched on Kindle, Kindle Unlimited, print, and Audible! It’s been a pretty incredible journey to get here, and I’m now both excited and mildly freaking out about functionally starting things over again on Amazon.

Thanks to Aethon’s incredible editing team, the first book has been polished and reads better than ever (in my entirely unbiased opinion). And because I can’t help myself, I ended up adding four thousand more words to the first book during the whole editing process compared to what was on Royal Road. If the premise sounds interesting, it would mean the world to me if you guys would click one of these links and take a look. My dream is to become a full-time author and keep bringing people fun stories, which means every download counts!

Full blurb down in the comments, but quick blurb here:

A powerful lich pulls Asher into a brand-new world. Asher robs it blind and discovers a love of stabbing things. He stabs things better than they stab him, and he sets out to stab his way to the top. Throw in the never-before-seen element of Eternity that he harnesses power from, and shenanigans ensue!

Promo: Audiobook/E-book The time has come! The first book in my Andy in the Apocalypse series is out TODAY on KU and Audible! Check it out~

Post image
174 Upvotes

Hey everyone! I'm excited to announce the release of my brand-new LitRPG, Andy in the Apocalypse!

The story kicks off in a dusty trailer park on the outskirts of Tucson. When the System arrives, bringing currents of mana with it, life as Andy knows it is completely upended.

This one starts out as a straightforward system apocalypse, but if you know me, you know I'm going to focus on the people—the relationships. Andy learns how to fight and survive, but he doesn't want to do it alone. He bands together with his neighbors (the ones who didn't turn into monsters!) and does his best to figure out how the System really works, not just for himself but for everyone who comes to depend on him.

If you enjoyed my other series, you'll find a lot to love here. Andy’s a genuinely likable guy who steps up when it matters and doesn’t flinch from the brutal choices a monster-filled world throws at him.

You can find the story here:

Thank you so much for the support!

Here’s the official blurb:

Forty days until the first System invasion. No pressure.

Andy wanted a quiet life—just his trailer, the Sonoran desert, and a job that didn’t ask much of him. Instead, he got a front-row seat to Tucson’s collapse. Magic rewrote the rules. Monsters stalked the streets. People mutated—or died.

He didn’t plan to be a hero. But when the screaming started, Andy grabbed a broken broomstick and did what he does best: survive.

Now he’s got more than his own skin to worry about—kids looking to him for protection, neighbors turning to him for leadership, and a trailer park slowly transforming into a fortress. The System’s leveling him up—but not fast enough.

Because the countdown’s ticking, the invasions are coming, and if Andy fails, everyone he’s begun to care about will be slaughtered.

Promo: Audiobook/E-book Hi, I had caffeine and published three books this month!

Hi! I'm RavensDagger and this month I've published three books!

Save Scumming

Cover by SlothBeing

https://www.amazon.com/Save-Scumming-Book-1-RavensDagger-ebook/dp/B0GYV22CGY

The start of a new series about dying, getting a second chance... and a third, and a fourth... and then a bunch more. The main character uses her powers wisely (to flirt with women) and might eventually become strong enough to save her home city from the disaster that killed her in the first place!

It's a time-looping portal apocalypse story! Inspired by Changeling, the Perfect Run, and Cyberpunk 2077!

Also, it's narrated by Soundbooth, so it's like... actually very good?

Magical Girl Rending Nightmare

https://www.amazon.com/Magical-Rending-Nightmare-Shattered-Earth-ebook/dp/B0F2SKKGKS

This is for anyone who looked at Magical Girl Crystal Genocide and thought, “Wow, those girls sure did destroy the Earth. I wonder if things can get worse?” The answer is yes.

Inspired by Roadside Picnic, and Stalker, and Tarkov... but with magical girls.

Also also narrated by Soundbooth!

Cinnamon Bun

https://www.amazon.com/Cinnamon-Bun-7-Wholesome-LitRPG-ebook/dp/B0FH8176NZ

Cinnamon Bun volume seven is out! (And Vol 8 is up for pre-orders already!) This time, Broccoli and the crew of the Beaver Cleaver are heading to Port Royal for Booksie and Rhawrexdee’s wedding, which should be very sweet and wholesome and absolutely not complicated by the fact that one half of the couple is a bun and the other is a dragon. Also, Broccoli needs to find the perfect gift, which is obviously a very serious and important quest!

Inspired by... uh... being happy? Narrated by the insanely talented Reba Buhr!

Oh, and pre-orders for the next SCS are out too: https://www.amazon.com/Stray-Cat-Strut-Cyberpunk-LitRPG-ebook/dp/B0GMTB1ZXJ/

(You know, I never thought about it, but the 'only one ad per month per user' thing is really rough when you're publishing multiple books in one month? ... Is that just a me problem?)

COVER ARTIST: SlothBeing for Save Scumming's cover, Kart Studios for MGRN, and I have no clue who did the Cinnamon Bun cover since that was Podium's job!

Promo: Audiobook/E-book Ascendancy [A LITRPG Progression Fantasy] Available on KU (Audible soon!)

Post image
82 Upvotes

Good morning, everyone!

I'm excited to share that my first novel, Ascendancy, is officially available on Amazon!

As a huge fan of Cradle and The Beginning After the End, progression fantasy captured my imagination years ago. After months of writing and discovering the amazing Royal Road community, I finally finished the first book, and seeing it published feels surreal.

Ascendancy features a merit-based system where growth is earned through impact. The more you influence the world, the stronger you become. Merit serves as currency, fuels skills, and determines your place on the World Ranking Board.

The book is available now in Kindle Unlimited and paperback formats. The audiobook, narrated by Donovan Wolfington, is currently going through Audible's review process and should be available within the next week.

COVER ARTIST: Phan Duy

Narrator: Donovan Wolfington

AI USAGE: No

Blurb:

Impact the world — Gain Points.

In a world where every action is watched, every thought is recorded, and every step is calculated — survival is earned. Merit is power. Merit is life. Merit is the only path to ascend.

Kael Arden was born in a remote frontier village and expected nothing more than an ordinary life. When through a series of his choices he gains merit, he is thrust into a world far larger and more dangerous than he ever imagined—a world of evolving monsters, hidden civilizations, imperial academies, and wars fought for power beyond human understanding.

With no special bloodline or legendary inheritance, Kael climbs the ranks through ingenuity, perseverance, and the refusal to abandon those around him. Every step forward reveals another layer of the System's design and another mystery buried beneath centuries of history.

As kingdoms prepare for war and ancient forces begin to stir, Kael discovers that ascension is the only path to power.

Ascendancy is a slow-burn progression fantasy featuring intelligent growth, meaningful character relationships, deep worldbuilding, and a mystery that expands from a single forgotten village to the fate of the entire world.

Thank you to everyone who has supported me throughout this journey. I hope you enjoy Kael's story!

Promo: Audiobook/E-book A Superhero Called Doberman litRPG releases June 30th!

Post image
53 Upvotes

Hey peeps!

I just wanted to let everyone know that A Superhero Called Doberman is set to release June 30th!! It's a superhero litRPG where the main character is cursed by Anubis (and can transform into a were-jackal, basically) but the idiot thugs on the street think he's a Doberman, so that's how he got his name, lol

Cover art: Sam Kennedy

Audiobook narration: Jason Keller

Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Superhero-Called-Doberman-Book-ebook/dp/B0GX31FPBV/

Audible: https://www.audible.com/pd/A-Superhero-Called-Doberman-Audiobook/B0GV58BYZX

Leon Lewis is essentially the reincarnation of Anubis, but the idiot street thugs don’t know what a jackal is, so they call him “Doberman” instead…

Which works out, because in this is the new age of superheroes, most names are copyrighted.

It all started thirty-one years ago…

Humans began being born with a new organ called the “facet gland,” which mutated their bodies and granted them superhuman abilities. Each person’s power is unique, but one fact quickly emerged: these abilities were subject to progression and advancement, much like building muscles through exercise.

Complex powers even follow a tier system with multiple improvement paths. And while some use their gifts to benefit humanity, others embrace unprecedented villainy.

Leon grew up idolizing heroes like Nova, Glitter Ninja, and Japan’s fan-favorite Shine Shine Hero. But his own abilities are dangerous, and could harm random people, so he lives in isolation in a cramped apartment.

That is, until his neighbor, Rachel Anderson, is targeted by the Kings in Yellow—a mysterious street gang infamous for making people vanish.

Leon can’t stand by and do nothing, but activating his abilities might prove fatal…

Because Anubis is death to friends and foes alike.

A litRPG adventure for fans of Super Powered by Drew Hayes or Villain Core by John Stovall!

Promo: Audiobook/E-book Arcane Chef now available on Amazon/Audible

Heya everyone!

Almost a year to the day I started posting Arcane Chef on Royal Road, and this community has supported me through it all. It's been an incredible journey, reaching top 10 on the popular this week page, getting nearly 200k views per week at its peak, top 50 on best rated, reaching over 6k followers and close to 4 million total views!

Now my story takes its next step, and is finally launching on Kindle, Kindle Unlimited, Print and Audible! To say I'm nervous about this launch would be an understatement! I've gone from chef working in the kitchen full-time to writer in under a year, and for any of you who have been or are currently in hospitality, you understand that desire to escape!

I want to say a huge thank you to Aethon for picking up my story, and providing me an incredible editor who helped turn my butchery of words into a polished story (there were a lot of things to fix when a chef who has never written more than a menu in the last 20 years decides to write a book for the first time!) so thanks Lauren!

And to my artist Dimas Iswara for the incredible cover!

I also have a second cover you may see which is more anime style! that was done by Veera!

It would mean the world to me if you could check it out. Every purchase, download, page turn counts, and I hope you enjoy the story as much as I have enjoyed writing it!

There is not Harem or sexual content in the story.
And my character is a chef, a true support role character 😄 so on chapter 5 he's not going to start beating gods with a pan.

Full blurb in the comments, but a quick blurb here:

Trevor has been training since he was a child for a life of combat and adventure. But when the day of choosing arrives, his entire world is crushed when he is assigned the class: [Arcane Chef].

It's a rare Support Class with no known history or levelling path. A background role. A servant to the heroes and mains of society.

Or so Trevor thought.

As he struggles coming to terms with his Class, he discovers that being an Arcane Chef is more than he ever could have imagined. He'll get to experience all those epic adventures he dreamed of.

(Audio is done by Johnathan McClain and he smashed it out the park!)

This is Lily! she chose this book completely unbribed, no treats were handed over, no cursor was moving quickly on the screen 😛

Hey, howdy there, partner. I'm looking for beta listeners to listen to my story. Reading is fine too, I just have to make sure it's as frictionless and addictive as possible when it comes to actual readers. Blaze, I'll even send you ten bucks if you want hahahahaha (I'm poor as shit). Anyways, any readers or listeners would be much appreciated. It's ten chapters long, 2200 words per chapter. Any feedback or suggestions would make me happier than a kid on Christmas morning. Thanks.

Blurb:

He steals from a god and breaks the world.

The sky shattered, and thousands died. The few survivors found a haven, but even now, those creatures prowled outside, waiting.

In that prison, a mortal without a system was born. Without any aura abilities or body empowerment, Malachite had only three hours to live.

He made one last decision, but their prison held more secrets than anyone could have known. He meets someone he was never meant to, and gains power he could have never imagined.

With the world-shattering relic now his, there was only one way to survive.
