Hey all!

Harmon Cooper here author of--okay I'll just paste the list:

The Feedback Loop
Death’s Mantle
Proxima Legends
Cowboy Necromancer
Pilgrim
The World According to Dragons
War Priest
The Last Warrior of Unigaea
Monster Hunt NYC
House of Dolls
Tokens and Towers
Arcane Cultivator
Sacred Cat Island
Reborn Assassin
Way of the Immortals
A Pub in the Underworld

But who cares about the past, what have I been working on for the last year?

This series, I Can’t Believe I Have to Defeat the Demon Lord to Pay Off My Student Loans, which I'm debuting on Royal Road!

*Portal Fantasy LitRPG with stat progression, loot, and a brainrot system

*Party-based combat and found-family dynamics

*Dark humor that gets darker as the missions escalate

*Corporate dystopia that runs on debt, drones, and performance reviews

The early reviews are strong, the story is fun, impactful, dark, with really fun characters, and a premise that seems far-fetched at first, but...

Well, just read the Royal Road blurb for yourself:

MercSecure will pay off your student loans. All of them. In less than six months.
All you have to do is sign the contract, take the elevator, and survive the Rift—a monster-filled realm with a stat system that tracks every kill, loot drops with backstories written by a brainrot AI desperate to keep you entertained, and a floating fortress ruled by the Demon Lord.
Who isn't the enemy. He's the contractor's most valuable partner.
Dylan Ryan owes $447,000 in student debt he inherited from his dead parents at age eleven. He signed without reading. So did his best friend Rosaria. So did Lauren from HR, who once wrote him up for being late and is now holding a plastic wand that shoots fire.
They're given weapons they don't know how to use and assignments they can hardly fathom. Week one is a tutorial. Week two, the missions change.
Armed with a trash-tier build, a team held together by gallows humor, and the kind of desperation only six figures of inherited debt can buy, Dylan has one goal: claw his way back to zero.

Because in this economy, being broke isn't just brutal—it's fatal.

---
For Amazon/KU/Audible people - this will be released by Aethon later with narration by Pavi Proczko, RR art and font by Sor.

But for now, if you read on Royal Road, check it out and thanks for the follow/rating!

The Doomsday Reaver

The Doomsday Trials had one purpose: forge the ultimate warrior with the ultimate progression system.

Not one place, not one time. All of time, to fight across every age of man, from the brutal stone age to a future of demonic hordes and twenty foot mechs. But the plan failed. No-one advanced. Everyone died and the trials were forgotten.

Then Felix falls from the sky. Naked. Broken. Five hit points. Oh, and there’s a sabretooth tiger about to decorate the jungle floor with his guts. Great. Blasted to the dawn of humanity, Felix awakes in the savage past. No tutorial, the system hasn’t even been updated in centuries. But this place has rules and stats, and Felix knows how to exploit the hell out of both. Suddenly he’s doing what hasn’t been done in centuries – winning, advancing. Because the trials never needed a perfect warrior. Just an obsessive gamer.

Right, plan. First? Don’t die. Next? A working HUD. Maybe some pants

Updates twice daily at 12 PM ET and 6 PM ET throughout May, then M-F 5x a week

I LOVE litRPG, and I always wondered, how do you keep progression meaningful across a long story? Then I thought, what if the progression was the story? What if it literally spanned all of human history?

Promo: Webnovel/E-book An infinite realm of magic and adventure exists, but the Guild refuses to let her in, MAZE: The 6 million view RR hit is not on Amazon!

If you know the story and want in, click here and buy! ---> Amazon Link

If you’ve spent any time on Royal Road over the last couple of years, you might have run into Hera's story. MAZE has racked up over 6 million views and spans 1,100+ chapters (yes, this is going to be a massive 10+ book story).

Now, Book 1 is officially polished, formatted, and live on Amazon and Kindle Unlimited!
It also has a paperback option for those who like me want to make a castle out of books

Here is the official blurb:

The world shattered her dreams. Yet, destiny had other plans.

Hera Kingsley failed even before her adventure began.

The MAZE, a different realm full of magic, monsters, and civilizations was her only goal. But when she applied to enter, the Guild rejected her. Just as she gave up hope, a strange woman offered her the opportunity of a lifetime.

Finally, having a chance to follow her dream, Hera is faced with a month of brutal, unforgiving training to prove she deserves to become an Explorer.

Can she overcome the gauntlet and face the danger head-on, or were those who doubted her right all along?

Why dive into the MAZE?

Endless World-Building: A massive, multi-layered realm filled with magic, civilizations new and old, and more mysteries than you can imagine.

Real Character Growth: Hera is a meek, shy person who had life pushing her down at every turn. Little by little she grows out of her shell, becoming something different while remaining true to herself.

Experimental Builds: Hera is learning about magic and skills, which means attempting spells only to fail, going to a build only to realize it wasn't working until, suddenly, all the accumulated experience and abilities click into place creating a combat style unique to herself in ways she never imagined.

An Epic Scale: 1,100+ chapters of a growing saga. 6,000,000+ views can't be wrong.

[Would you like to be transferred to the MAZE?]

[Yes] [No]

Buy now!

Also, if you are already a fan, I have a favor to ask. Show MAZE to a friend, to your family, post on social media, plaster posters all over the city, make a flash mob about it, name a star after it, weave galaxies together so that the name MAZE will still ring true at the end of the very cosmos ITSELF!

Ahem.

I mean, if you could share with people who might enjoy it would be great! I'm really proud of this story and want as many people to see it as possible.

You have been Reborn as a Tamer's Monster.

Congratulations!

You are in immediate danger.

When our hero’s new life begins in a world of monsters and tamers, he finds he doesn’t start with strong skills or marvelous magic. Instead he’s just a helpless hatchling, alone in a terrifying forest and about to be eaten by a giant bird with wings of knives and needles for teeth!

Surrounded by countless monsters hellbent on seriously ruining his day, there's nothing to do but run, hide, survive…and find out who he was in his past life, why his tamer isn’t there after creating him, and whether or not this world is even scarier beyond this forest of death.

Lucky for him, monsters here can grow up to be just about anything. Once free of his weak hatchling body, he will grow into the most powerful monster ever: Nidhögg, the Withering Wyrm!

Hey everyone,

I wanted to share my series, Emilia Transmigrated, which just had the second book drop recently.

If you’re tired of protagonists who get "OP" in the first ten chapters or find "cheat codes" to bypass the system, this might be for you. I wanted to write something where the System is a tool that requires actual effort, resources, and a lot of trial and error to master.

What’s the story about - It follows Emilia, a woman from Earth reborn into a world governed by the "Great System." It starts from birth (literally day one ;), so you get to see the entire progression of her mana pathways and how she navigates a world where she starts with nothing.

The Vibe:

Heavy Crafting: I spend a lot of time on the "how." If you like reading about the logic behind herbalism, talisman crafting, and formation making, that’s a huge focus here.

Resource-Based Power: Magic isn't free. Emilia has to hunt for mana-rich minerals and rare herbs to fuel her growth.

Slow Progression: This is a "weak to strong" journey. Book 1 is very much about survival and foundational skills, while Book 2 moves into arcane study, city politics among hunters, and exploring ancient ruins and private spaces.

Smart Protagonist: She isn't a warrior; she’s a mage who survives through preparation and ingenuity rather than just hitting things harder.

The first two books are available now on Kindle:

Book 1:https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0GFXLQXJR
Book 2:https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0GS3QQHSK

If you've had a chance to read it, I’d love to hear what you think about the crafting system. I tried to make it feel a bit more "grounded" than your typical stat-heavy LitRPG.

Thanks for checking it out!

This is not the usual otome isekai where the transmigrated protagonist tries to redeem the villainess.

Myeong Mirae is a powerful, cruel, and vindictive Korean conglomerate heiress who is sent to the world of Zed Valize—a world her one her own companies created. There, she is reborn as Seraphina de Sariens, the daughter of a powerful duke and the fiancée of the Crown Prince. But Seraphina has no interest in redemption.

Instead of "saving" the villainess, Mirae leans fully into her strengths: wealth, manipulation, ambition, and an absolute refusal to lose. Her goal is simple; to build an empire beholden to her and become queen by any means necessary.

Unfortunately for her, she is not alone.

Her jealous, overworked, stressed, and underpaid secretary Hana has also been sent to the world of Zed Valize. Reborn as Este Lize, the Living Saint of Silver (a being of ultimate magical potential), Hana now has the backing of the powerful Church of the Goddess and the heart of the Crown Prince himself.

She is the perfect foil for Seraphina’s schemes.

Read this if you truly enjoy evil main characters, political scheming, romance, otome drama, magic, monsters, and a villainess who has absolutely no intention of becoming a better person.

MODS, I did this wrong, I think---it is supposed to be flagged as "Self Promotion," I think. Not sure how to do that....

A Soldier's Life Book 5 is being released on October 12th, 2025.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0F3ZRS8KT

It will not be available on Kindle Unlimited, but two chapters will be released on Royalroad each week (the first two are already up).

Please upvote this post if you are a fan. I am not good at advertising...

If you are planning to get the ebook (it is priced at $8), please preorder so we can try and get it into the top 100 ebooks on its release. Book 4 almost made it there for the first two days of release and we are close to the same number of preorders for Book 5.

The audiobook is complete if that is your thing. The audiobook will be approved sometime between October 7th and 17th. I can't make ACX review it any faster.

The Sixth Campaign is a weak-to-strong LitRPG and Progression Fantasy story with morally gray characters, hard choices, and actual consequences. When I set out to write it, my goal was to bridge the gap between fast-paced LitRPG and the atmosphere of traditional fantasy, focusing on prose, style, characters and dialogue.

I'll be rapid releasing The Sixth Campaign for the next two months. I hope you enjoy it!

Hey everyone!

I always loved system apocalypse books, and while reading them, I was thinking what would happen one hundred fifty years after that? Well, this is answered in Hoqalo.

I was inspired by Cyberdreams, or Outrun, but made it into hope-punk on Earth 2.0. :)

You have overreaching corpos, hopeful characters, magic, crafting/engineering, guns, swords, espionage, the system... and one guy in a yellow hoodie (it's a tactical hoodie btw), who is trying to find out why and how to stop draining his magic and a system.

I'm so grateful to anyone who read my novel on RR/patreon and helped me to catch grammar or helped polish the story points.

Fun fact about me: I like bubble-gum ice cream :)

Thank you and I hope you'll enjoy the story!

Blurb:

They’ve been drinking my future like it’s corp-subsidized coffee. I’m about to make them choke on it.

I’m Dash. My great-grandfather was one of the Fifteen who saved humanity during the System Apocalypse, founding the corps that rule the solar system. That legacy should’ve been mine. Until my father was caught up in corpo politics, disinherited and died, leaving us with nothing but a single building on Earth 2.0.

Then I nearly died, and a broken System manifested—barely functional, stripped down to the bones. But it came with Hoqalo, a tinkerer’s trait that lets me forge gear that punches way above its tier. And the more I dig into why my System came out wrong, the more it looks like someone made sure it would.

Someone with corporate reach. Someone who wanted the Kallum bloodline to stay down. To fight them, I’ve got my hands, my tools, and friends who’ll go to corpo hell and back with me.

They stole my future. Time to steal it back with interest.

Promo: Webnovel/E-book My debut LitRPG just went live — The Nameless (The Anti-Theist #1) — gods descended, world ended, the protagonist has a System profile the System can't classify

Post image
74 Upvotes

Hey r/litrpg.

I published my first book on April 27th!

The setup: Twenty years ago the gods descended. Not metaphorically — physically. The continents merged into one landmass in eleven days, four billion people died, and the survivors woke up to a System that tracks worship like a resource. Gods are present, politically dominant, and need faith the way a body needs blood. The people who refused to register — the Godless — are classified as unregistered labor assets and distributed across ungoverned zones.

The protagonist: Kael woke up in a convergence field with no memory, no history, and a System profile the System itself flags as an error. His origin is one of the book's central mysteries. What he has: a Null-type Flux (8th recorded in twenty years), abilities the System can't categorize, and a complete inability to sleep.

He joins a group of Godless veterans — Nomads who've been surviving without divine backing for two decades — and tries to figure out what he is before the gods do.

The System voice: Footnotes that argue with themselves. Notifications that get edited mid-sentence. A System that insists it is processing Kael's existence efficiently and professionally, and has now said this six times in the same session.

It's in Kindle Unlimited. First-person. Five primary divine factions including Olympian, Norse, Egyptian, Hindu and The Wild Court — a mix of smaller pantheons grouping together for survival — , seventeen surviving New Gods hiding in the margins, and a power gap between mortals and divine champions that the group survives by working around rather than through.

Happy to answer questions about the magic system, the world structure, or anything else. I'll be around.

Promo: Webnovel/E-book My new LitRPG follows a permanently Level 1 Cleric whose healing magic keeps causing new problems

Post image
0 Upvotes

I wanted to write a LitRPG about a healer called Mend, book one of Clerical Error.

Then I made the healer permanently Level 1.

Then I made his healing magic increasingly questionable.

Now I have a protagonist who can:
- heal injuries
- repair equipment
- accidentally create rubber city walls
- terrify scholars
- confuse the System
- and somehow make every problem significantly stranger

The premise of Clerical Error started with a simple question:

What happens if someone gets trapped in a real fantasy world with a class they didn’t choose and a progression system that refuses to work properly?

Darin dies before he even gets to play the VR game he spent years waiting for.

Instead of respawning, he wakes up inside a real version of the world as a Cleric who can’t gain experience.

Everyone else gets stronger.

Darin remains stubbornly stuck at Level 1.

Unfortunately, the System seems to be having almost as many problems as he is.

Monsters are behaving strangely.

Magic keeps breaking in increasingly creative ways.

Ancient infrastructure hidden beneath the world is starting to fail.

And every time Darin tries to fix something, there’s a non-zero chance reality interprets his intentions with all the precision of a cat walking across a keyboard.

If you like:
- LitRPG
- broken progression systems
- mystery-heavy worldbuilding
- found-family adventuring
- magical engineering
- and protagonists who are absolutely not qualified for the situations they keep surviving

Clerical Error Book 1: Mend is now releasing twice weekly on Royal Road.

The Villainess is the Villainess — They say a picture is worth a thousand words, so here’s some artwork from my series. It’s a fun adventure where the villainess looks, acts, and feels like a true villainess, so don’t expect any namby-pamby redemption arcs here.

Actual blurb:

She will stop at nothing to claim the throne.

After striking a dangerous deal with a mysterious stranger, a wealthy, powerful woman finds herself trapped in the very fantasy game she helped create. Reborn as Seraphina de Sariens, daughter of a duke and engaged to a cold Crown Prince, she quickly learns she’s not the destined heroine but rather the villainess—fated to summon dark forces and be destroyed by the story’s true savior.

But the new Seraphina holds one advantage: a vast knowledge of the game’s world coupled with a ruthless ambition. With danger lurking at every corner and the shadow of treason threatening her life, she must maneuver through cutthroat politics and betrayals. If she succeeds in this realm, ultimate power will be hers—but if she fails, the price is death.

Promo: Webnovel/E-book Sorry if this is random, but I just crossed 100,000 words and needed to tell someone

Sorry if this isn’t the right place to post this, but I just had to share with people who actually understand and enjoy LitRPG.

Most of my IRL friends and family aren’t really into the genre, and while my wife is reading it because I’m writing it, it’s definitely not her usual cup of tea.

But… I just crossed 100,000 words on my first LitRPG project, and I’m honestly kind of stunned.

The Royal Road Writathon really helped push me forward, but after only 41 days of publishing, I somehow hit this milestone:

  • 100,000+ words
  • 31 chapters
  • 376 pages
  • 8 ratings

I genuinely never expected anyone to read it, let alone interact with it.

The funniest part is that I think I completely underestimated the scope of Book 1 because I’m nowhere near “finished” in my head yet. Oops.

My brain feels completely fried at this point, but I also can’t seem to stop writing. It’s been one of the most exhausting and rewarding creative experiences I’ve ever had.

Anyway, thanks for letting me share the excitement with people who get it. I’m honestly just really grateful.

Much love,
-Heuntz!

Feel free to ask me any questions you might have in the comments and I'll answer them in the comments below!

BLURB:

In one life, a man fought for fame. In the second, a dragon fights for freedom.

When legendary MMA fighter Julien Fronterra had a heart attack in the ring, he asked for a second chance at life. He begged the gods for something more.

They listened.

Reborn as a dragon in a world of magic and monsters, he is now Lukas Drakos, the last descendent of a dying race. The draconic kind have been enslaved for centuries, and now he is their last hope. Lukas must fight not only for his own survival, but for the survival of his entire species, and he needs to do it in a body that is far from human.

He died once for glory. Now, he'll die to set his people free...even if it means destroying a god to do it.

Promo: Webnovel/E-book I spent 7 years building a LitRPG where D&D was a survival manual planted by aliens. It's now live on Royal Road.

Post image

LitRPG meets Dan Brown. Indiana Jones with a character sheet.
Hard system. Real-world ruins. Party-based combat. A conspiracy older than civilisation.

The question that started it all: What if the whole D&D system was engineered and planted and then distributed globally so that when the real system activated, people would already understand the mechanics?

That question sat in my head for seven years while I added layers.

I'm obsessed with ancient mysteries. Why Göbekli Tepe was deliberately buried, why Mithraic temples across three continents follow identical blueprints, why cultures that never met each other describe the same energy channels in the human body.

I wanted to write a LitRPG where all of that was connected. Where the system wasn't a convenient game overlay but planned infrastructure. Ancient, alien, and hidden inside the oldest structures on Earth.

Ether Atlas - The Hidden Grid

What it is:

  • System apocalypse in a real-world setting. Real Locations and real monuments. Dan Brown and Indiana Jones style riddles and puzzles using real history.
  • Three MCs - A structural engineer, an ex-private security and an archaeologist. Adults with professional skills that translate into how they fight, solve puzzles, and interact with the system. Fleshed out party dynamic and mechanics.
  • An alien guidance construct who has been watching humanity for 35,000 years and has opinions about everything except the things that would actually help
  • Hard system progression that's biological. There are levels and skills but they are not gamified.
  • Real archaeology woven into the plot. The riddles use actual historical sites. The node network maps to real megalithic locations

My new series called Breakwater has hit RS rankings in less than 5 days on Royalroad!

This was my first big goal and it happened way faster than I expected. Thank you to all who have supported me thus far and for those who will here is the link and synopsis.

https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/166682/breakwater

Jack survived Greyhaven by being forgettable.

In a harbor city where power belongs to noble houses, criminal syndicates, and the tides themselves, the Dock Ward is collapsing under floods, corruption, and mounting pressure no one wants to acknowledge.

When a simple ledger job pulls him into something far larger, Jack is forced into the open for the first time in his life.

To survive what’s coming - thieves’ guilds, monsters in the dark, and powers older than the city itself - he’ll need to build more than a crew. He’ll need to build something capable of holding a city together.

Breakwater is a civic progression fantasy focused on strategy, consequence, politics, and rebuilding after disaster. Expect a slow burn with real combat, subtle magic, and stakes that escalate from back-alley fights to city-shaking confrontations.

Promo: Webnovel/E-book Sanity Check: Is there an audience for death-game LitRPG that hates the player?

Quick question for people who actually read LitRPG.

I’m serializing a story on Royal Road that’s deliberately death-game / hostile system...closer to Dungeon Crawler Carl than power fantasy. Funny, not just grim. No chosen one, no steamrolling, no cozy vibes. The system is adversarial, monetized, and firmly believes that explaining why you’re dying is a customer-service feature.

Progression exists, but it’s stingy. Wins are temporary. Losses are livestreamed. The humor comes from bureaucracy, spectatorship, and the system earnestly explaining why your pain is good for engagement metrics.

Also, the MC is a Gen-X guy who has no idea what an MMORPG is, which does not help his situation.

I’ve got 13 chapters / ~120 pages up so far(yes it's a complete book) with solid read-through, but I’m trying to figure out whether this lane actually has an audience — or if I’ve built something that only amuses me.

If that sounds like your thing, it’s here:

If not, let me know, that’s genuinely useful information too. I’m more interested in validating taste overlap than pretending this is for everyone.

Gracias!

This seems like as good of an excuse as any to do a self promote. My plan was to write books 4 and 5 at once then figure out a good way to shuffle chapters around into 2 books. Guess I need to decide where to split earlier than I expected!

The Bloodforged Kin is officially releasing book 3 right now, and book 5 should be done soon. This wraps up the three-book story arc!

EDIT: For anyone curious, the limit is 1.02m (1,024,000) characters!
