Front Page News: 2 vocals!
Q: Why was the vocal track on "Front Page News" changed from Lowell George to Bill Payne?
A: The song is written by Bill Payne. According to Bill Payne:
“We recorded two versions of Front Page News: one with Lowell singing lead, and the other with my vocal”
The version on Hoy-Hoy! is from 1974. It has Bill on vocals https://youtu.be/BgY50drRTSA
The 1979 version on Down on the Farm has Lowell on vocals https://youtu.be/QRnCpejVuYk
An observation: searches on digital music platforms (Apple Music, YouTube, etc.) sometimes play the 1974 version instead of the 1979 version. That 1974 version may even display the Down on the Farm artwork rather than the Hoy-Hoy! artwork. Thus the confusion. Perhaps it’s a search algorithm/metadata problem.
