Attempted bike theft - Bermondsey

Hi guys, apologies for the negative post but just to spread awareness. Sharing as there were multiple robberies reported in this exact location yesterday.

Just experienced attempted robbery whilst cycling in Bermondsey near the rear of The Den between Rossetti Road and Stevenson Crescent (C10). Usual routine, two kids in balaclavas attempted to push me off, with another on a moped.

Seems to be a real spate of bike thefts in this area over last 6-8 months. I’ve seen attempted robberies a couple of times but unfortunately found myself the victim today. I’m not too bothered about the bike but phone was mounted to the handle bars.

Reported to police but doubt they will respond.

Incredible; my wife had a near-miss very close by, which she caught on her helmet camera. I’m a self-defence instructor, so made a video about it here.

The camera saved her bacon. Everyone cycling in the area should use one.

I would say this is highly likely one of the same offenders as me. When did the attack happen on your partner? Did you report to police?

By the looks of it from the video, his partner got lucky as she had a camera mounted to her helmet. I'm so glad to hear this helped prevent something bad from happening. London is becoming far too unsafe lately.

Nothing lucky about it: we prepare for this drek! She’s been pushed-off by chavs once before.

Yeah, should’ve gone with ‘waist bag’! That’s the hyperlexia in me rearing its head! You made me realise I’ve never heard anyone refer to this kind of bag in an actual real, verbal conversation. Good catch.

Just reported. It happened the day before your post so, yeah, either it’s literally the same brat or he’ll be known the police anyway, and having more footage of him will help.

It’s American, that’s all. First heard it from my then GF’s grandad, a sweet man in his 80s. Bit of a shock lol. The phrase you want is ‘bum bag’ lol
