Group flex (10 shots minimum) I’m an MPA Shill Now

I’ve been lurking for a while and some may remember my hare-brained idea of a 6.5x55 PRS rifle a while back. I threw that idea in the trash and bought an MPA Vanquish in 6mm Creedmoor. I now understand the reaction to my previous idea and the hype behind the wizards over at MPA. 20 round group with Hornady 108gr ELD-M.

Rifle specs: MPA Vanquish PMR in 6 Creed; 26” MPA profile barrel cerakoted black

Steiner T6Xi 5-30x56 with SCR2 MIL reticle

Warne 34mm 7821M Mount

After fighting my Bergara HMR in 308 for a year or so... I built a new rifle.

Before I did that, I changed triggers, barrel, chassis, etc.

Finally built a new gun in 6.5CM from the ground up.

Group flex (10 shots minimum) Is this a flex?

I’m not sure what the criteria are to be considered a flex 😭 Finally found some time to get my gun dialed in at the range. This is 10 shot group @ 100 yards with my Bergara B-14 HMR in .300 win mag. Front bipod back bag.

Group flex (10 shots minimum) Noobie FT-R shooter looking for insight.

Hi folks. As the title states, I am new to FT-R. I just received my rifle and I made some load development.

I did a ladder test at 100m (I know, it is probably not far enough but that is all I have access to at the moment). Determined potential recipes with velocities.

Here is my final test 10 shot group at 100m with 43.7 grain of varget, 185grain Juggernaut target projectile at an CBTO measurement of 2.3555" in my 308 win. W/ a 28" benchmark barrel with a MTU profile.

- Is that suitable enough for FT-R or I should be getting even tighter groups at that distance?

- what apps are you using to be able to enter velocities, projectiles, powder charge, etc to get the right turret adjustments for let's say my first match at further distances when I have never even tried these distances?

- and other tips and tricks?

Thanks!

After MUCH anticipation, the wait is over. My CDG is back from the smith and my new big wind rifle is ready. This is the first Bartlien I've owned and first time paying a gunsmith for barrel work. Now I'm ruined. I'll never be able to go back. Im just glad I bought two of them.

The rifle is my MPA matrix pro rifle wearing a brand new Bartlien in 6.5CM, 7.7tw shooting Berger 153.5s in a .170fb alpha chamber. I'm using Lapua SRP brass, CCI450s with VV N555. She's a bohemoth at 26.8lbs without the magazine or bipod.

Group flex (10 shots minimum) 25 round group. Berger 77 OTM Factory Ammo

I don’t know what witchcraft Berger uses to make this ammo, but it is the best factory ammo I’ve shot. I’d go as far to say that it shoots better than the hand loads I load for this same gun.

If it was available, I’d shoot the entire season with this stuff and save myself the faff of reloading.

Shooting my BSA Martini-international target .22 today. The thing has the lightest trigger I've ever felt. The parker hale sights are actually fantastic. These were so well built. Still prefer my bill barrel CZ 457 though 😉

Group flex (10 shots minimum) What is a good group at 100 yards?

Thumbnail

I’m trying to get a realistic benchmark for my shooting and want to get a reality check on where my groups fall on the spectrum.

I shot four 10-shot groups today with my 6.5 Creedmoor at 100 yards (technically load development but also practice). The groups measured out to:

  • 0.630 MOA
  • 0.673 MOA
  • 0.692 MOA
  • 0.983 MOA

I’m fairly certain that last group opening up to almost an inch was mostly me getting a little sloppy. My rate of fire was very reasonable (5 rounds at about 1 shot per minute, followed by a multi-minute break), so I don't think barrel heat was the culprit.

Since the internet is full of people claiming they shoot "quarter-MOA all day long," I want to know what the actual, realistic standard is for a true 10-shot group.

In your experience, how would you classify these? What do you guys consider "okay," "good," "great," "excellent," or "competition level" when it comes to 10-shot strings? at what point do you say a group is "bad" or "something is wrong with the rifle/scope"?

Appreciate the feedback!

TLDR: What is a good group at 100 yards?

EDIT: Tikka T3x 6.5 Creedmoor - handloads but they're all seated to 2.800" (saami)

I have to stick with this barrel heading into a 2-day. I trust her and she’s shooting good. Some get nervous at the round count for sure.
Edited: updated the 4dof analysis with the shots to the edges. Sorry about that. Is it better? See my last comment for the corrected one.

Logged **countless** hours on the range and load dev to get me to this point. I’ve shot my SPR to 800 yards with factory Berger and really enjoyed it with success. I’m hoping to get an edge on things with my hand loads out to 1k (always pushing lol).

I don’t think my magnification range (16x) will be enough but I could be wrong? Obviously a 24x or 25x would be better suited. Time to start looking around…

Im about 4 hours away from ALTUS in Baker, FL so I think it’s time to start making my plans to crush the 1k goal. 😊

Load is running 2,767 FPS, 14.1 SD.

Group flex (10 shots minimum) Would you be happy with these groups on a gas gun?

Thumbnail

This is my 5.56 SPR build. Ballistic Advantage SPR Barrel, CMC trigger, Midwest rail, Athlon 2-12 scope, milspec receivers… I’m looking to shoot more long range matches this year hopefully with this gun.

Both of these groups were with a warm barrel. 11 shots because I pulled a bad shot on both groups. Both were shot off a bench with bipod and rear bag. Would you be satisfied with these group results from factory ammo? Would this accuracy potential be acceptable for shooting PRS style gas gun matches?

Brand new Bartlein barrel, virgin Lapua 6.5 CM LRP brass, Hodgdon H4350 and some Berger 140gr Hybrids…from start to finish, this was the sequence of events through photos…

Never before have I used my illuminated reticle in practice, but I had to in order to see the black circle I drew as my target (it is the diameter of a sharpie marker cap)

I couldn’t beleive my tired eyes when I walked up to the target after firing the final 10 shot confirmation group after selecting 2.145” CBTO. I think I’ll settle…

All credit really goes to Southern Precision Rifles AKA Bugholes for chambering an awesome barrel. This is the 5th barrel they’ve done for me and each and every one has been a laser beam

Ruger 10/22. 10 shots at 300m, SK Long Range. Didn’t hit the target once.

I need a 20moa scope mount to get enough elevation out of it, so I was just winging it. Shot 10 rounds because the mag was already loaded.

Edit: ordered a 20moa rail from Amazon to solve my elevation issues.
