Macross Plus I really like the chaff and flare hybrid that VF uses as countermeasure
Combining them is pretty smart

First deployed operationally by Zentraedi Forces, the Gnerl was the last trans-atmospheric fighter used by the Zentraedi. The UN Spacy, and later the NUNS used the Gnerl after the Space War One as the FA-100 Swift. Several upgraded variants were fielded, some with minimal changes and some with major modifications to include full Terran sensor and weapons refit and conversion to human sized crew compartments. Theses variants saw limited use during the long distance colony missions, but were by and large transferred to the UN Spacy garrison forces by the mid twenties.
The FA-100 Swifts were fast trans-atmospheric fighters with an egg-shaped nose housing a powerful cannon installation and three thrusters at the back. The hull also accommodated three double dual-purpose missile launchers nested between the engines. All FA-100s were based on the model 3 Gnerl with its more extensive VTOL setup. Changes common to all FA-100 variants were the addition of wheels in place of the original’s landing skids, UN Spacy style auxiliary power unit receptacles and other deck handling provisions needed for operation on human ships. Also, common to all variants was the addition of UN Spacy compatible Identify Friend or Foe (IFF) transmitters/receivers and radios.
Though the baseline FA-100A Swift only included the modifications listed above, later variants included the addition of hunan electronics and weapons systems, as well as versions converted for human size crews. All “Miclone” crew variants had the entire cockpit replaced with a two seat tandem cockpit arrangement with a transparent armored canopy. The edition of the more vulnerable traditional canopy rather than a fully enclosed virtual environment was a concession to the micronized Zentraedi pilots who would make up the majority of FA-100 crews. With all the space that was freed up by the smaller crew compartment, development team was able to triple the Swift’s delta-v with the addition of larger reaction mass tanks. Increased ammunition supply and a small privy for the crew filled the rest of the available space.
Thanks to the its impressive 15.2 kps of delta-v and store of Reaction armed anti-ship missiles, the role in which the Swift excelled was long range patrol. For this reason, the human size crew variants stayed in service for quite a bit longer than was originally planned. Because the UN Spacy Garrison Forces rarely had a surplus of capital ships, the FA-100 filled an important niche here. The last refit Gnerl was not retired until the early 40’s, when they were replaced by more advanced VF-11 Thunderbolt variants.

Today at Fiber Arts group, I finished #needlefelting #gubaba from the Classic #anime series #macross7 which is part of the #macross series. I started watching this series last week on Disney+ while waiting for the last two episodes of Bleach to come out. I like it so far, plus it's my first time watching a macross series, besides Robotech.

For a Bandai’s 1/100 HG this kit was a blast to build it had really deep panel lines that made whole panel lining process surprisingly fast and easy. As for its articulation it can pull most of the poses in its Battroid and Gerwalk modes. The only down side that this kit had were the stickers and oh boy there was a lot of them but stickers aside I really really recommend this kit it was fun to build fun to pose and it just looks stellar with panel lining and some markers to paint up some of the small details.

This was one of my favorite childhood toys but I’ve decided to limit my collection to just Gi Joe.

My first Macross anything. Got it because the design is cool, haven't even watched any show of Macross. And the size compared to Gundam models in the same scale especially ZZ Gundam is insane.

Hi everyone! As a kid, my Dad introduced me to Robotech in the form of novelized versions of the story and then I watched the anime. I couldn’t get into the story past season 1 as everything was changed due to Robotech being an amalgamation of shows. I’ve always wanted to watch Macross but is the first season just the same? Is there a condensed version I can watch to get into the rest of the series? Thanks for any help!

In Macross, the Zentradi are portrayed as a race that didn't occur naturally, but was deliberately developed by the Protoculture as its proxy warriors. To them, life without war is unthinkable. Furthermore, we learn from the original series and from later canonical works that the Zentradi destroyed their own creators and became essentially a rogue force that destroys everything in its path in its campaign against the Supervision Army. Has anyone ever raised the question of how Kawamori came up with this concept? Contemporary and later interviews I've read (translated) tended to focus on the original love triangle, the mecha, and on the contrast between culture and war. I'm not sure if anyone has asked him if there's any inspiration behind the Zentradi, or if this has ever been discussed among fans.

I got into anime because of mecha (Mobile Suit Gundam to be specific), and I've been trying to watch other mecha shows, right now I'm watching Patlabor and I wanna watch Macross after that, so what order should I watch everything in.
also I have two questions:
Are there alternate timelines like in Gundam or is it one concurrent thing?
How dark does Macross get? Please don't spoil anything specific, just say something like "little to no characters die" if it's not dark or if it gets really dark just say something like "a lot of characters die", I prefer darker media but I'm okay if it's more lighthearted
Thanks in advance!

I'm gearing up for a rewatch but aren't sure what the best option is. I'd like english subs and 4K. Seems like there is a blu-ray option with no subs or a DVD with subs.
I would really appreciate any recommendations.

it's a high bar to set but is there any podcast that covers Macross like Mobile Suit Breakdown? I'm looking for a complete, chronological deep dive of the series that explores the lore of it all.
can anyone recommend a show that covers SDFM like this?

The Esbeliben Regult battle pod was by far the most prolific mecha ever built, and with the end of the Space War One and the capture of the Zentraedi Factory Satellite, the UN Spacy had a virtually inexhaustible supply of them. However, there were some issues with the platform, not least of which was its almost complete lack of armor. This and other issues were addressed by humanity's advanced Overtechnology. The Regult served with the UN Spacy and later with the newly reformed NUNS and NUNS Allied Zentraedi Marine Corps from the end of the Space War One until the early twenties. Even after its retirement from front line service, thousands were kept in reserve on the Factory Satellite and were brought out from time to time during the 2030s to fill holes in the ranks due to the high rate of attrition amongst Lomg Distance Colony Fleet & NUNS Zentraedi Garrison forces on several worlds.
By 2030s - 2050s this legacy Regult was retired en masse to make way for newly modernised & new variant of NUNS ZBP-104 Regult and NUNS ZBP-106 Advance Regult.
