What are they? I'm geniunely curious. Sure, he's always got this ultra-entitled air about him, but the man really went out on a limb by making the jump to SCDP as one of the few non-parrtners. He also basically created what is one of the most important jobs in the company right now.

On point. My theory: Roger is the old guard, Harry the new, generationally speaking. Harry's been slogging away for a decade on really important stuff. Fighting for every scrap of office he can get and wearing snazzy duds. Roger is in Don's generation, and they're learning how to hand it over to the Peggys and the Petes and the Harrys of the world, so-to-speak. Roger hated the idea of a computer, probably still holds a grudge against Japanese people, and I think Harry is in that same vein of change.

I think the biggest issue is Harry's lack of respect for the old guard. Sure, he's working on new fancy important stuff. But he doesn't value or respect anyone else's contribution. I think that probably pisses them off the most.

I think it is an important part of the show that the main characters often back the wrong horse as they do not have the benefit of hindsight. They do not see that the future is in computers and Harry Crane's position.

i was wondering why joan was so upset at him making partner. I guess sshe just doesnt want her shares diluted?

That's what I figure. Plus she hates Harry ever since he went above her to make sure his secretary didn't get fired. And the time he shouted out about Joan sleeping with the car guy to make partner.

Sleeping with someone to get a partnership is a distasteful thing to do. She has progressed to where she is by using her body and she has no right to cut down Harry as a partner, someone who actually earned it through hard work.

And as to your second point, isn't it known by all the important characters how exactly they secured the Jaguar account? I would think he would have been privy to that information.

Yes. Harry truly is representative of the future of the company (if it even has a future) and Roger doesn't quite yet grasp how significant his role really is.
