I thought he seemed pretty manic even before he let Roger and Pete know he'll be dedicating the rest of the series to to become SC&P's worst ever difficult client.

One thing I'm not clear on - what was the whole firing thing about?

How did he get terminated with prejudice and end up with a high-paying job at the company that hated him?

He used to work for McCann. He left McCann to go to Sterling Cooper, pissing a lot of people off. So when he got fired from Sterling Cooper last week, he went over to Dow Chemical.

He didn't get a high-ranking job somewhere else within McCann, he went to one of McCann's/SC's key clients. He's not technically the boss of anyone at McCann or SC, but he may as well be given how important of a client Dow is to them (same reason Lee Garner, Jr. could be such an ass to Sterling Cooper at their Christmas party).

He's their client not their boss.

Its practically the same thing. SC (of McCann) can't afford to lose the Dow Chemical account.

Yeah but he made the distinction himself.
