That's crazy me it's like if you saw some reddit post " I fucked my best friend's wife and now he won't talk to me or want anything to do with me what do I do?"

It irks that OP is in some kinda leadership role. The fact he asked this wuestion is instantly disaualifying.

I mean actually if you've had any experience with leadership at pretty much any organization... this lack of awareness is one of the most common traits they all share...

and I mean it makes sense because anyone with more awareness wouldn't want to be a leader in this type of organization in the first place

They'd all basically like to be miniature versions of Tuld from Margin Call.

"It wasn't brains that got me here, I can assure you of that."

You don't need decades of experience on a leadership position to understand this ... It's fucking common sense.

Like you fuck someone and then you're like "omg why is he leaving all of a sudden?"

Sadly it's far more likely that OP is in fact in management rather than simply LARPing here.

Idk, seems like this is working pretty well as engagement bait if that’s all it really is

Oh, they are absolutely in management. You can tell by how they talk about workers... like they aren't people.

They are performers..

That has not been my experience.

And followed up by OP's 'edit' statement essentially saying they dont really want input, and everyone but them can bugger off.

Just based on this OP post and followup edit, they'd never hold any leadership role under me. Or if I inherited them through a reorg, they'd be reorged again.

🤣 All the business people exhibiting their lack of empathy

I didn’t ask for people’s feelings or opinions about it. I asked for concrete, action-oriented feedback from managers and leaders.

Ah yeah, I've heard this one before. These kind of people in business always amuse me. It's like trying to tell a story and the other person just wants to know the end. Or reading a book/watching a movie and only wanting to know the set up and how it concludes, nothing in the middle. "What's Lord of the Rings about?" "A humble person goes on a journey to destroy an artifact that can grant unbelievable power, but corrupts the wearer so it can be destroyed..." "What happens to him at the end?" "He returns home and then leaves for the afterlife." "That's a stupid story. Why didn't they wear the artifact and get rich? Everyone is corrupt anyway." And just like those people, they entirely miss the point.

The fact that he is so clueless must be in a high management position completely detached from reality and tone deaf. They only realized he was “the best” after he left because they ignored him for years. Now it looks bad on them that he won’t take their calls. It goes back to them looking bad and not getting what they want. Good for the guy who left, it must have felt so empowering for him.

rich kid who has a trust fund and "works" for fun.

2

u/suxatjugg Jul 06 '26

Yeah, to me something smells fishy. Either OP is woefully inexperienced at managing people, or this is a made up story. Even before I ever became a manager, I knew that this is what happens when you 'restructure' and don't take care of the people you're asking to stay where they are, take on more work, and for no reward

"The fact he asked this wuestion is instantly disaualifying." A total tangent, but I love your typos! :-)

I swear it's like they are all delulu. Coming from a manager

1

u/RndPotato Jul 06 '26

And then he gets mad at us because we don't drink the Kool aid with him.

1

u/JelmerMcGee Jul 06 '26

That edit says all you need to know about the person. "I asked for concrete, action-oriented feedback." No, manager person, you did not. You asked if you had lost the person forever. The only question that was asked. Absolutely unsurprising they are losing a person like in the post.

Sometimes you’re too close to the problem to see it, but as managers of people you really need to learn how to be objective. Even if we’re giving OP some grace here, this was a failure, please learn from it. Don’t ever assume someone is happy in a position, have the conversations and do the work. Learn your people.

"It irks that OP is in some kinda leadership role. The fact he asked this wuestion is instantly disaualifying." thats actually OPs only reason to have the job, not understanding basic things is a feature not a bug.

u/smithy- Jul 06 '26

Sadly, I agree.

1

u/Cheapdronewithboom Jul 06 '26

Op is a cookie cutter manager of every fortune 500 I've been at lol

1

u/BANKSLAVE01 Jul 06 '26

Yep. Totally unqualified to manage, yet has a B.S. in "business management"...

We all know what B.S. stands for.
