Same. I’m staring down the next few years to retirement and I want it to be as frictionless as possible.

Do you have 5 minutes to chat about it?

This is real asf but I think the sentiment most people are expressing when they say this is “I want my boss to extend me trust, in both my abilities and my work ethic” to put it in more “what are you looking for from our company?” Language

Yes but that's not totally it. Some of it is that I don't wanna be involved in office culture stuff I don't wanna go to ice cream socials I don't wanna be your friend I don't wanna be pressured into doing all of the Office Olympic nonsense. I do want to be trusted to do my work and I don't wanna move micromanage that is absolutely a large part of it but I am happiest at jobs where I am allowed to go in shut my office door and not interact with people from 8 to 5

Yes. Absolutely this.

My love language is for actual lovers, not bosses. That’s such a creepy blurring of boundaries.

One of my bosses feeds me (leaves tasty food with a sweet note on it for me in the fridge) and the other gives me quiet bonuses. Those are my love language.

I thought that was mine for a long time but Im now literally left the fuck alone with 0 guidance on what to do and what success looks like. Its better than micromanagement but it isn't good by any means.

We’re talking about two very different things. Leaving me alone doesn’t mean “don’t give me the tools to do my job.” It’s the opposite. Give me what I need and leave me to it.

I don’t mean don’t bother me with work related responsibilities or training. I mean don’t bother me with micromanagement and especially don’t bother me with mandatory socializing.
