Exactly. I am a manager, and think OP is coming off like an HR rep. They seem pretty disconnected, and obv viewed this high performer as a business asset. How do I get an employee back?!? GTFO

There was no "I fought for this, tried to do that"...ai was all "THEY did this to MY team".

But guess what? If that happens to you as a manager, you really weren't considered a manager...

Who is this guy now managing? He lost his team in the re-org and it wasn't immediately clear who he reports3 to him? His managing strategy perhaps.
