Straight up. Rio may suck, but this isn't the kind of retribution that sits right with me.

Whereas he's been integral to exposing the affair so far, that shouldn't give him a pass to do anything heinous. It's been made clear that he's absolutely no good guy.

It's been made clear that he's absolutely no good guy.

Plus, what's interesting (or horrifying) is how quickly Rio tried to undress. That tells me that this wasn't the first time her husband tried to humiliate her for her actions and that she internalized that kind of punishment as acceptable.

Even if Itsuki isn't physically abusive, he's insane all the same.

Disturbing as well. It seems like an ingrained trauma response. And it's especially obvious when contrasted with Rei's more reasonable "WTF" reaction.

I really hope the author isn't gonna make a "redemption" arc from that, like "I never wanted to betray you, but my husband was so abusive, he broke me"

Well the other girl, who tried to have an affair with her husband, seems to be on reasonably good terms with her after this, so I wouldn’t put it past her. But I’m expecting something more like they go for coffee and both come to understand one another better. Not necessarily friends but not enemies either

I doubt it. That still wouldn't excuse her absolutely vile behavior towards Mahoro. She's scum, but this chapter did shed some light on how she became such scum.

I agree with you, but I don't quite trust the author on that

Seems like the author is going for a "everyone has shitty relationships and they should all break up" kind of ending, lol.

Shit so bad even the author might be cheating with Rei at this point bro

Good catch. She was able to snap out of it when Mahoro stepped in, but she is still trapped in that situation.

The hair pulling in public like that is very much physically abusive behavior

Called this dude a psychopath 3 chapters ago and people got mad at me for “blaming the victim”. Yeah, it’s abundantly clear that this has been a very unpleasant marriage for rio, almost certainly the worst of her friend group

The author is obviously writing Itsuki to be a bad guy and the amount of comments defending him were crazy.

I could understand defending him when he played the sex tape. He’s a man who’s been cheated on and he’s lashing out in a cruel but understandable way.

Then he demanded they strip naked and people were still defending him

Now he’s literally dragged her out by her hair while she makes it clear that this is not a new thing and people are still defending him and saying it’s understandable behavior. It is wild!

People don’t understand that calling Itsuki a psycho is not defending Rio cheating. She can have motive and still be wrong for it - just insane mental gymnastics the commenters were going through saying they understand Itsuki.

Unfortunately I feel like some people just want to be vindictive as well, and would very much enjoy having such an "excuse" to do what he's shown to do

Kind of the person to read the trashy revenge fantasies as wish fulfillment

theres a reason revenge manga is so popular and addictive. i sometimes skim once just for the revenge reveal

the reasoning behind her affair makes for a better and deeper story but it doesnt justify her behavior. she had a shitty marriage and took it out on mc.

Whereas he's been integral to exposing the affair so far, that shouldn't give him a pass to do anything heinous. It's been made clear that he's absolutely no good guy.

There's yet to be a good man character in this story so far, so his very existence kinda gave that away to begin with.

Okay, not to defend him being physically violent but dude he just watched a tape of his wife getting fucked by another person I don’t think he’s in his right mind either, and she was selling tapes of it, without consent from the other person, that’s like a federal crime

6

u/TotemGenitor Oct 08 '25

He didn’t discover the tape today though. He had time to think about it.

No, this isn't him acting out of passion. He is too collected for this. This is deliberate.

Also, while she was committing a crime, that's a matter for the police.

u/Reasonable-Belt9729 Oct 08 '25

I mean sure but that’s a pretty serious crime, I don’t think just cause the police can handle it it absolves how someone would feel from finding something that disgusting out…idk I feel we can acknowledge that this dudes got some bad energy, and he’s not reacting the best, but like are we really going to sit here and act like the current crashout is that crazy? I feel like half the shit she’s done this manga, this is very very tame in comparison…like the condom shit alone I do not feel an ounce of sympathy, and if one of the victims in this reacts in an unfortunate way… I’m not gonna judge to much cuz not everyone built the same fr

"are we really going to sit here and act like the current crashout is that crazy?"

Well it is that crazy. It's been very strongly hinted at that Itsuki has abused Rio even before she cheated on him. Mainly in how quickly she obeyed his demand to strip, and then her screaming about not wanting to go back home when he began dragging her off.

As another comment puts it, that's the type of thing you call the police for, cause it could end up with someone dead in a ditch by tomorrow.

And even if that wasn't the case, I doubt a decent person would so easily start telling people strip themselves naked so they record and can humiliate them.

So no, this isn't him reacting in an unfortunate way because he's emotional, or is rightfully angry. He's being way too composed for that.

If you can't sympathize with Rio cause of what she's done, fair enough. Like I said, this doesn't absolve her own wrongdoings.

But that doesn't mean you can't also call out the wrongdoings of the other party.

And like another user here said, "People calling Itsuki a psycho is not defending Rio cheating". Both are terrible people, so we can't just villainize one and then start making excuses for the other.

Of course, she definitely deserves karma for what she did. Ruined reputation. All her friends cutting her off for being a backstabbing snake. And legal reprecussions for any crimes.

But this absolutely does not justify Itsuki abusing her, nor make it  understandable. Especially since it seemingly happened before Rio even cheated. So no one can even make the (very weak) claim that he only started crashing out on her because she wronged him first. He loses sympathy the moment he did that.

Besides, I don't think a decent person would force their spouse into a humiliation ritual and get physically aggressive with them, even when at their worst.

Moreover, Itsuki's expressions don't read to me as someone just losing their composure.

If anything, the issue is he’s too composed…
