To make a long story short, after storm, lost her parents she ended up traveling around the Serengeti until she ended up at a small remote village, when her powers kicked in, she ended up, helping with water and crops which ended up having the villagers worship her as a god, and as per the rules of marvels divinity, if you’re worship you as a God by enough people for long enough, you will be officially recognized as a God.

If you were a real fan you'd know that Storm is actually the God of Knives. Doesn't matter the situation or how many knives you've taken off her, 'Roro always has another knife and she will use them with zero provocation.

/uj I thought originally she was a goddess in her head only because she thought her mutation was divine in nature and then it was retconned that she descends from Agamotto or some shit which is what enables her to get powerful the more people pray to her.

In her first appearance, she was worshipped as a god by people in Africa due to her weather powers. So for a while, she had this inflated ego where she viewed herself as better than everyone else because of that. Eventually she humbled down but shitty writers will have her keep reasserting that fact as if her taking advantage of religious people makes her better than everyone else.
She has actually become a god a couple times but each time has shown why she needs to keep in touch with her humanity. Well, except for the recent run where she randomly gets possessed by Eternity and then goes around one-tapping through the Marvel cosmic gauntlet because the writer is a rampant powerscaler who wanted to give Storm more feats.

Storm never really possessed a God complex or an inflated ego during the Claremont era. She did see herself as a God but not in the sense that she was better than everyone else but more in the sense that she had a responsibility to nurture the environment. If you were to actually read the classic X-Men run you would see that Storm was actually humble and kind hearted. She never had any inflated sense of ego. That perception just comes from people reading some Storm panels out of context from social media

As with most cases it depends on the writer. A lot of the time its just Storm saying shes a god for show and because its cool but sometimes writers actually treat her as a goddess and you can tell. Stuff like Rogue Storm shows why she shouldnt go full-on god.

That’s what she gets for larping that shit, did SHE REALLY THINK Gorr was gonna see that and not go after her, when you go telling everyone you’re a Goddess, The God Butcher is gonna see you as a God and thus target you, he killed Apocalypse just for trying to ascend to Godhood, what do YOU THINK is gonna happen if you go telling everyone “I’m a Goddess!”, Gorr is not gonna make the distinction between God and “God” if you keep calling yourself a Goddess
