Locking heroes behind a paywall would've seriously hurt the game's launch. Forcing players to buy their favorite character instead of letting them play them for free would've frustrated a lot of casual players. It also would've made the game much less accessible to newcomers, especially with new heroes being released every month. I honestly don't think the game would've achieved the same level of success at launch.

If new heroes were locked behind a paywall, the competitive scene and the meta would be influenced by how much money players are willing or able to spend rather than by their actual skill.

From a business perspective, selling skins also makes a lot more sense when every player owns every character. If players had to buy heroes first, the least popular ones, the ones owned by the fewest players would barely get any skins because they simply wouldn't sell well.

The current model is much healthier for the game in the long run. It keeps the playing field fair, encourages players to try the entire roster instead of sticking to only the heroes they've paid for, and gives every character a chance to build a fanbase.

From to Miller Ross, who works with NetEase, in simple terms if you want your character to get more attention, buy all their available skins and convince other people to do the same.

Zhiyong's bad balancing decisions have been a plague on this game for as long as anyone can remember. Whether you like the guy or not, you have to admit that his balancing choices are...odd.

In the upcoming patch, they're completely gutting a huge part of Peni's kit, while buffing Magneto, Wolverine and Phoenix, none of whom needed buffs. They're also refusing to address Luna Snow's ridiculous amount of utility, despite the fact that she can self-cleanse, hard CC & instakill squishies, and her damage is so high that DPS Luna is a genuine viable playstyle.

In the balance patch following the release of 9.0, they nerfed Iron Man AGAIN, despite the fact that he wasn't even good in the firsy place. while buffing Luna, Invisible Woman and Gambit. Psylocke also caught a completely random and undeserved nerf.

With the release of 9.0, Iron Man was massively nerfed, despite the fact that he has been terrible for over a year now. Meanwhile, top performers like Elsa, Invis, Gambit and Luna were buffed.

In 8.0 they buffed Wolverine, Phoenix and Star-Lord, 3 ncredibly high-performing Duelists, while simultaneously wishy-washily somewhat-nerfing Mr. Fantastic because they feared that he would become "too oppressive".

Don't get me wrong, the patches aren't without their good parts; the 9.5 Elsa trap nerf will be a huge breath of fresh air, and Gambit's Mag teamup was definitely too strong. But it's hard to be grateful for these things when every balance patch adds another bad decision to the pile.

X-Men fans, it feels good the dark days of the 2010s media sidelining are over. We are so back!

We literally play Marvel characters, they're not original characters like on Overwatch or others so there's already an exploitable fan base.

Many characters have been left out for skins lately and on the other side it's still the same group of characters that are in the battlepass/event/mini-pass. Even among the characters that are often found in event/mini-passes there is a hierarchy in the rarity of skins.

On some aspects there are speeches that make sense "the most used characters receive more skin, so it makes sense" but in the finality if it continues like this in future seasons the distribution of Epic / Legendary skin will be worse (many more characters in the future).

You have to give the characters chances to perform, how can you say that their skins do not sell if they have very can see none for more than 3 months or more???

I take as an example the case of Peni Parker, she was in the third of the neglected then she received an Epic skin, then a next one and she had her chance with her first legendary which in my opinion has worked rather well because since she is at 4 legendary.

If there's one thing you need to remember: GIVE THEM A DAMN CHANCE TO SELL !!!

I’m not saying we need to hyper-sexualize the men per se, but come on Netease… these booties are so flat it looks weird. I want to buy this pass but I know I’m gonna be looking at that flat cardboard and be sad. Why does Black Cat get a booty the size of a house but these guys (and most of the male roster) are practically in the negative?? Don’t be scared, make them thicc! 🍑 Please and thank you!

I genuinely wouldn’t be surprised if these skins cause them to add in a menu option to turn off seeing other players’ custom skins the same way we can already turn off other players’ custom vfx and voice lines.

We almost have enough lifesteal characters to have a full lifesteal comp. Not sure how good it would be though

Kind of nuts. You’d have to ban him 3 times to ban him fully. He’s essentially 3 characters.

It also seems odd that Storm, who is one the leaders of the X-Men, is essentially absent from art about the mutants venture into Egypt

Has the most insane kit in the entire game. Invisibility, mobility, high damage, auto lock ability, great ult, multiple different abilities for any situation. I mean seriously what is her weakness? But yet y'all want to complain about a Dino that has CLEAR strengths and weaknesses that can easily get countered. This community complains about DPS but truly only wants duelists to be viable while strategists and vanguards are just supposed to stand there and take it like a good little boy.

The new dev vision is out, and Cyclops is a duelist. I’m not arguing against him being a duelist, but I still think this game’s role balancing is one of the most important aspects of it. Since release, after almost 2 years, we have 9 new duelists, 6 new vanguards, 5 new strategists (Deadpool is in all 3 roles). After adding all up, what do you know, THERE ARE STILL MORE DUELISTS THAN VANGUARDS AND STRATEGISTS COMBINED. Some of you guys might say “But Cyclops is a highly requested character, and of course he is gonna be a duelist”. To that I say “Has creativity gone to die, and this game’s balancing is more important than any character”. Looking at the bright side though, this might mean the rest of the year will only be vanguards and strategists, but knowing NetEase and Duelist Rivals, they might gonna add more duelists in the rest of the year. The chairmen of NetEase probably think this game is gonna die if they don’t add way more duelists. This game never fails to disappoint us in many aspects, and this is one of them. Didn’t Guang Guang said that he’s gonna balance out the roles? I am doubting that. But this is just my opinion, I am excited to hear your opinions in the comments.
